ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥

bhujang prayaat chhand |

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਉਧਿਤ ਸਟਾਯੰ ਉਤੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

audhit sattaayan utai singh dhaayo |

With elevated tail and full of rage the lion ran forward.

ਇਤੇ ਸੰਖ ਲੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਦੇਵੀ ਬਜਾਯੋ ॥

eite sankh lai haath devee bajaayo |

There the goddess holding the conch in her hand, blew it.

ਪੁਰੀ ਚਉਦਹੂੰਯੰ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਨਾਦ ਪੂਰੰ ॥

puree chaudahoonyan rahiyo naad pooran |

Its sound reverberated in all the fourteen regions.

ਚਮਕਿਯੋ ਮੁਖੰ ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਮਧਿ ਨੂਰੰ ॥੧੭॥੫੫॥

chamakiyo mukhan judh ke madh nooran |17|55|

The face of the goddess was filled with brightness in the battlefield.17.55.

ਤਬੈ ਧੂਮ੍ਰ ਨੈਣੰ ਮਚਿਯੋ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

tabai dhoomr nainan machiyo sasatr dhaaree |

Then Dhumar Nain, the weapon-wielder, was greatly excited.

ਲਏ ਸੰਗ ਜੋਧਾ ਬਡੇ ਬੀਰ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

le sang jodhaa badde beer bhaaree |

He took many brave warriors with him.

ਲਯੋ ਬੇੜਿ ਪਬੰ ਕੀਯੋ ਨਾਦ ਉਚੰ ॥

layo berr paban keeyo naad uchan |

They besieged the mountain and began to shout at the top of their voice.

ਸੁਣੇ ਗਰਭਣੀਆਨਿ ਕੇ ਗਰਭ ਮੁਚੰ ॥੧੮॥੫੬॥

sune garabhaneeaan ke garabh muchan |18|56|

Which when heard could destroy the pregnancy of women.18.56.

ਸੁਣਿਯੋ ਨਾਦ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੰ ਕੀਯੋ ਦੇਵਿ ਕੋਪੰ ॥

suniyo naad sravanan keeyo dev kopan |

When the goddess heard voice of the demon-chief, she was greatly enraged.

ਸਜੇ ਚਰਮ ਬਰਮੰ ਧਰੇ ਸੀਸਿ ਟੋਪੰ ॥

saje charam baraman dhare sees ttopan |

She bedecked herself with shield and armour and wore the steel-helmet on her head.

ਭਈ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਆਰੰ ਕੀਯੋ ਨਾਦ ਉਚੰ ॥

bhee singh suaaran keeyo naad uchan |

She mounted the lion and shouted loudly.

ਸੁਨੇ ਦੀਹ ਦਾਨਵਾਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਨ ਮੁਚੰ ॥੧੯॥੫੭॥

sune deeh daanavaan ke maan muchan |19|57|

Hearing her shouts, the pride of the demons was destroyed.19.57.

ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪਿ ਦੇਵੀ ਧਸੀ ਸੈਨ ਮਧੰ ॥

mahaa kop devee dhasee sain madhan |

In great ire, the goddess penetrated into the demon-army.

ਕਰੇ ਬੀਰ ਬੰਕੇ ਤਹਾ ਅਧੁ ਅਧੰ ॥

kare beer banke tahaa adh adhan |

She chopped into halves the great heroes.

ਜਿਸੈ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ਸੂਲ ਸੈਥੀ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

jisai dhaae kai sool saithee prahaariyo |

On whomsoever the goddess struck her blow with her trident and the destructive weapon (Saihathi)

ਤਿਨੇ ਫੇਰਿ ਪਾਣੰ ਨ ਬਾਣੰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੦॥੫੮॥

tine fer paanan na baanan sanbhaariyo |20|58|

He could not hold again his bow and arrows in his hands.20.58.
