ਸਾਹੁਰੁ ਪੀਹਰੁ ਪਖ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਘਰੁ ਨਾਨੇਹਾਲਾ ।

saahur peehar pakh trai ghar naanehaalaa |

There are three types of relationship - first those of father, mother, sister, brother and their offspring and alliances;

ਸਹੁਰਾ ਸਸੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ਸਾਲੀ ਤੈ ਸਾਲਾ ।

sahuraa sas vakhaaneeai saalee tai saalaa |

Second, mother's father, mother's mother, mother's sisters, mother's brothers;

ਮਾ ਪਿਉ ਭੈਣਾ ਭਾਇਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ਦੁਰਾਲਾ ।

maa piau bhainaa bhaaeiraa paravaar duraalaa |

Third, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law.

ਨਾਨਾ ਨਾਨੀ ਮਾਸੀਆ ਮਾਮੇ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ।

naanaa naanee maaseea maame janjaalaa |

For them, gold, silver, diamonds, and corals are amassed.

ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਸੰਜੀਐ ਹੀਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਲਾ ।

sueinaa rupaa sanjeeai heeraa paravaalaa |

But dearer than all is the love of the Guru's Sikhs for the Guru,

ਪੀਰ ਮੁਰੀਦਾਂ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਏਹੁ ਸਾਕੁ ਸੁਖਾਲਾ ।੭।

peer mureedaan piraharree ehu saak sukhaalaa |7|

And, this is the relationship which brings happiness.
