ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਛਡਿ ਕੈ ਭਵਜਲ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭੰਭਲਭੂਸੇ ।

sukh saagar gur chhadd kai bhavajal andar bhanbhalabhoose |

Leaving the Guru, the Pleasure Ocean, one tosses up and down in the world-ocean of delusions and deceptions.

ਲਹਰੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਛਾੜੀਅਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਗਨੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਲੂਸੇ ।

laharee naal pachhaarreean haumai aganee andar loose |

The stroke of the waves of the world-ocean tosses and the fire of ego continuously burns the inner self.

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਨਿ ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਕੇ ਧੂਸੇ ।

jam dar badhe maareean jamadootaan de dhake dhoose |

Tied and beaten at the door of death, one receives the kicks of the messengers of death.

ਗੋਇਲਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਚਾਰਿ ਦਿਨ ਨਾਉ ਧਰਾਇਨਿ ਈਸੇ ਮੂਸੇ ।

goeil vaasaa chaar din naau dharaaein eese moose |

May be some one has named himself after Christ or Moses, but in this world all are to stay for a few days.

ਘਟਿ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਅਖਾਇਦਾ ਆਪੋ ਧਾਪੀ ਹੈਰਤ ਹੂਸੇ ।

ghatt na koe akhaaeidaa aapo dhaapee hairat hoose |

Here none deems himself lesser one and all are engrossed in the rat race for selfish ends to find themselves shocked ultimately.

ਸਾਇਰ ਦੇ ਮਰਜੀਵੜੇ ਕਰਨਿ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਖੇਚਲ ਖੂਸੇ ।

saaeir de marajeevarre karan majooree khechal khoose |

Those who are divers of the pleasure-ocean existing in the form of Guru, only they remain happy in the labour (of spiritual discipline).

ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਡਾਂਗ ਡੰਗੂਸੇ ।੧੩।

Without the true Guru, all are always at loggerheads.
