ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Basant, Third Mehl:

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਚੜਿਆ ਫੂਲੀ ਬਨਰਾਇ ॥

basant charriaa foolee banaraae |

Spring has come, and all the plants are flowering.

ਏਹਿ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਫੂਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥

ehi jeea jant fooleh har chit laae |1|

These beings and creatures blossom forth when they focus their consciousness on the Lord. ||1||

ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥

ein bidh ihu man hariaa hoe |

In this way, this mind is rejuvenated.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਢੈ ਧੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

har har naam japai din raatee guramukh haumai kadtai dhoe |1| rahaau |

Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, day and night, egotism is removed and washed away from the Gurmukhs. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥

satigur baanee sabad sunaae |

The True Guru speaks the Bani of the Word, and the Shabad, the Word of God.

ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਏ ॥੨॥

eihu jag hariaa satigur bhaae |2|

This world blossoms forth in its greenery, through the love of the True Guru. ||2||

ਫਲ ਫੂਲ ਲਾਗੇ ਜਾਂ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥

fal fool laage jaan aape laae |

The mortal blossoms forth in flower and fruit, when the Lord Himself so wills.

ਮੂਲਿ ਲਗੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥

mool lagai taan satigur paae |3|

He is attached to the Lord, the Primal Root of all, when he finds the True Guru. ||3||

ਆਪਿ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਵਾੜੀ ॥

aap basant jagat sabh vaarree |

The Lord Himself is the season of spring; the whole world is His Garden.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੭॥

naanak poorai bhaag bhagat niraalee |4|5|17|

O Nanak, this most unique devotional worship comes only by perfect destiny. ||4||5||17||
