ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਰਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥

deen deaal damodar raaeaa jeeo |

O Merciful to the meek, O Dear Lord King,

ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥

kott janaa kar sev lagaaeaa jeeo |

You have engaged millions of people in Your Service.

ਭਗਤ ਵਛਲੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਰਖਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥

bhagat vachhal teraa birad rakhaaeaa jeeo |

You are the Lover of Your devotees; this is Your Nature.

ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਨੀ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

pooran sabhanee jaaee jeeo |1|

You are totally pervading all places. ||1||

ਕਿਉ ਪੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਕਵਣ ਸੁਕਰਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

kiau pekhaa preetam kavan sukaranee jeeo |

How can I behold my Beloved? What is that way of life?

ਸੰਤਾ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਰਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

santaa daasee sevaa charanee jeeo |

Become the slave of the Saints, and serve at their feet.

ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਵਤਾਈ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

eihu jeeo vataaee bal bal jaaee jeeo |

I dedicate this soul; I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them.

ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

tis niv niv laagau paaee jeeo |2|

Bowing low, I fall at the Feet of the Lord. ||2||

ਪੋਥੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬੇਦ ਖੋਜੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

pothee panddit bed khojantaa jeeo |

The Pandits, the religious scholars, study the books of the Vedas.

ਹੋਇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

hoe bairaagee teerath naavantaa jeeo |

Some become renunciates, and bathe at sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

geet naad keeratan gaavantaa jeeo |

Some sing tunes and melodies and songs.

ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

har nirbhau naam dhiaaee jeeo |3|

But I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Fearless Lord. ||3||

ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥

bhe kripaal suaamee mere jeeo |

My Lord and Master has become merciful to me.

ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ ਲਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥

patit pavit lag gur ke paire jeeo |

I was a sinner, and I have been sanctified, taking to the Guru's Feet.

ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥

bhram bhau kaatt kee niravaire jeeo |

Dispelling my doubts and fears, the Guru has rid me of hatred.

ਗੁਰ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥

gur man kee aas pooraaee jeeo |4|

The Guru has fulfilled the desires of my mind. ||4||

ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

jin naau paaeaa so dhanavantaa jeeo |

One who has obtained the Name is wealthy.

ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸੁ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

jin prabh dhiaaeaa su sobhaavantaa jeeo |

One who meditates on God is glorified.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭ ਸੁਕਰਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

jis saadhoo sangat tis sabh sukaranee jeeo |

Sublime are all the actions of those who join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੬੬॥

jan naanak sehaj samaaee jeeo |5|1|166|

Servant Nanak is intuitively absorbed into the Lord. ||5||1||166||
