Nat, Fourth Mehl:

ਰਾਮ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥

raam kar kirapaa lehu ubaare |

Grant Your Grace, Lord, and save me,

ਜਿਉ ਪਕਰਿ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਦੁਸਟਾਂ ਆਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਜ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jiau pakar dropatee dusattaan aanee har har laaj nivaare |1| rahaau |

as You saved Dropadi from shame when she was seized and brought before the court by the evil villians. ||1||Pause||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਇਕੁ ਮਾਗਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

kar kirapaa jaachik jan tere ik maagau daan piaare |

Bless me with Your Grace - I am just a humble beggar of Yours; I beg for a single blessing, O my Beloved.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਨਿਤ ਸਰਧਾ ਲਾਗੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

satigur kee nit saradhaa laagee mo kau har gur mel savaare |1|

I long constantly for the True Guru. Lead me to meet the Guru, O Lord, that I may be exalted and embellished. ||1||

ਸਾਕਤ ਕਰਮ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਿਉ ਮਥੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਪਾਣੀ ਝੋਲ ਝੁਲਾਰੇ ॥

saakat karam paanee jiau matheeai nit paanee jhol jhulaare |

The actions of the faithless cynic are like the churning of water; he churns, constantly churning only water.

ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਢਿ ਮਾਖਨ ਕੇ ਗਟਕਾਰੇ ॥੨॥

mil satasangat param pad paaeaa kadt maakhan ke gattakaare |2|

Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, the supreme status is obtained; the butter is produced, and eaten with delight. ||2||

ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਕਾਇਆ ਮਜਨੁ ਕੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਦੇਹ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥

nit nit kaaeaa majan keea nit mal mal deh savaare |

He may constantly and continually wash his body; he may constantly rub, clean and polish his body.

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਨਿ ਬਚਨ ਨ ਭਾਏ ਸਭ ਫੋਕਟ ਚਾਰ ਸੀਗਾਰੇ ॥੩॥

mere satigur ke man bachan na bhaae sabh fokatt chaar seegaare |3|

But if the Word of my True Guru is not pleasing to his mind, then all his preparations and beautiful decorations are useless. ||3||

ਮਟਕਿ ਮਟਕਿ ਚਲੁ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਸਾਰੇ ॥

mattak mattak chal sakhee sahelee mere tthaakur ke gun saare |

Walk playfully and carefree, O my friends and companions; cherish the Glorious Virtues of my Lord and Master.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਰੇ ॥੪॥

guramukh sevaa mere prabh bhaaee mai satigur alakh lakhaare |4|

To serve, as Gurmukh, is pleasing to my God. Through the True Guru, the unknown is known. ||4||

ਨਾਰੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਭ ਨਾਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥

naaree purakh purakh sabh naaree sabh eko purakh muraare |

Women and men, all the men and women, all came from the One Primal Lord God.

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੫॥

sant janaa kee ren man bhaaee mil har jan har nisataare |5|

My mind loves the dust of the feet of the humble; the Lord emancipates those who meet with the Lord's humble servants. ||5||

ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਗਰ ਸਭ ਫਿਰਿਆ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਭਾਰੇ ॥

graam graam nagar sabh firiaa rid antar har jan bhaare |

From village to village, throughout all the cities I wandered; and then, inspired by the Lord's humble servants, I found Him deep within the nucleus of my heart.

ਸਰਧਾ ਸਰਧਾ ਉਪਾਇ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੬॥

saradhaa saradhaa upaae milaae mo kau har gur gur nisataare |6|

Faith and longing have welled up within me, and I have been blended with the Lord; the Guru, the Guru, has saved me. ||6||

ਪਵਨ ਸੂਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥

pavan soot sabh neekaa kariaa satigur sabad veechaare |

The thread of my breath has been made totally sublime and pure; I contemplate the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru.

ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੈਨਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੭॥

nij ghar jaae amrit ras peea bin nainaa jagat nihaare |7|

I came back to the home of my own inner self; drinking in the ambrosial essence, I see the world, without my eyes. ||7||

ਤਉ ਗੁਨ ਈਸ ਬਰਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਮੰਦਰ ਹਮ ਨਿਕ ਕੀਰੇ ॥

tau gun ees baran nahee saakau tum mandar ham nik keere |

I cannot describe Your Glorious Virtues, Lord; You are the temple, and I am just a tiny worm.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਮੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰੇ ॥੮॥੫॥

naanak kripaa karahu gur melahu mai raam japat man dheere |8|5|

Bless Nanak with Your Mercy, and unite him with the Guru; meditating on my Lord, my mind is comforted and consoled. ||8||5||
