ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਾਣਸ ਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਅਚੇਤ ਚੰਗੇਰੇ ।

manamukh maanas deh te pasoo paret achet changere |

Animals and ghosts said to be without wisdom are better than manmukh the mind-orientated.

ਹੋਇ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਅਚੇਤ ਹੋਇ ਮਾਣਸੁ ਮਾਣਸ ਦੇ ਵਲਿ ਹੇਰੇ ।

hoe suchet achet hoe maanas maanas de val here |

Even being wise the man becomes fool and goes on looking towards men (to meet his selfish ends).

ਪਸੂ ਨ ਮੰਗੈ ਪਸੂ ਤੇ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ਘੇਰੇ ।

pasoo na mangai pasoo te pankheroo pankheroo ghere |

An animal from animals and a bird from birds never ask for anything.

ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਲਖ ਜੂਨਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਉਤਮ ਮਾਣਸ ਜੂਨਿ ਭਲੇਰੇ ।

chauraaseeh lakh joon vich utam maanas joon bhalere |

Among eighty-four lakh species of life, the human life is the best one.

ਉਤਮ ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਮਰਣ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਲਖ ਫੇਰੇ ।

autam man bach karam kar janam maran bhavajal lakh fere |

Having even the best mind, speech and actions, man goes on transmigtraing in the ocean of life and death.

ਰਾਜਾ ਪਰਜਾ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਭਲੇ ਭਲੇਰੇ ।

raajaa parajaa hoe kai sukh vich dukh hoe bhale bhalere |

Whether it is a king or the people, even the good persons suffer the fear (of going away) from pleasure.

ਕੁਤਾ ਰਾਜ ਬਹਾਲੀਐ ਚਕੀ ਚਟਣ ਜਾਇ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰੇ ।

kutaa raaj bahaaleeai chakee chattan jaae anhere |

Dog, even if enthroned, according to its basic nature goes on to lick the flourmill at the fall of darkness.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਗਰਭ ਵਸੇਰੇ ।੧੯।

Without the perfect Guru one has to stay in the abode of womb i.e. the transmigration never ends.
