ੴ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਹ ॥
ik oankaar vaahiguroo jee kee fatah |
The Lord is One and the Victory is of the True Guru.
ਗ਼ਫ਼ੂਰੋ ਗ਼ੁਨਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਲ ਕੁਸ਼ ਅਸਤ ॥
gafooro gunah bakhash gaafal kush asat |
You are the benevolent, pardoner of sins, and destroyer,
ਜਹਾ ਰਾ ਤੁਈਂ ਬਸਤੁ ਈਂ ਬੰਦੁਬਸਤ ॥੧॥
jahaa raa tueen basat een bandubasat |1|
Whatever is there in the universe, is all your creation.(1)
ਨ ਪਿਸਰੋ ਨ ਮਾਦਰ ਬਿਰਾਦਰ ਪਿਦਰ ॥
n pisaro na maadar biraadar pidar |
Neither you favour sons, nor brothers,
ਨ ਦਾਮਾਦੁ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਨ ਯਾਰੇ ਦਿਗਰ ॥੨॥
n daamaad dushaman na yaare digar |2|
Neither son-in-laws, nor enemies, nor friends,(2)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦਮ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਮਾਯੰਦਰਾ ॥
shuneedam sukhan shaeh maayandaraa |
Listen to the tale of the King of Mayindra,
ਕਿ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਦਿਲੋ ਨਾਮ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਜ਼ਮਾ ॥੩॥
ki rauashan dilo naam rauashan zamaa |3|
Who was knowledgeable and was renown all over the world.(3)
ਕਿ ਨਾਮਸ਼ ਵਜ਼ੀਰਸਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸ਼ਊਰ ॥
ki naamash vazeerasat saahib shaoor |
He had a very intelligent person as his minister.
ਕਿ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਅਸਤ ਜ਼ਾਹਰ ਜ਼ਹੂਰ ॥੪॥
ki saahib dimaag asat zaahar zahoor |4|
Who was very shrewd and impressive.(4)
ਕਿ ਪਿਸਰੇ ਅਜ਼ਾ ਬੂਦ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਜ਼ਮੀਰ ॥
ki pisare azaa bood rauashan zameer |
He (the Minister?) was blessed with a son, whose thinking was logical too,
ਕਿ ਹੁਸਨਲ ਜਮਾਲ ਅਸਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਮੀਰ ॥੫॥
ki husanal jamaal asat saahib ameer |5|
Not only handsome, (his son) possessed brilliant qualities.(5)
ਕਿ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਦਿਲੇ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਓ ਨਾਮ ਬੂਦ ॥
ki rauashan dile shaeh o naam bood |
He was known as a person with courageous heart,
ਅਦੂਰਾ ਜ਼ਿਮਰਦੀ ਬਰ ਆਵੁਰਦ ਦੂਦ ॥੬॥
adooraa zimaradee bar aavurad dood |6|
Through his manliness, he had blown up the enemies.(6)
ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਯਕੇ ਬੂਦ ਓ ਹੋਸ਼ਮੰਦ ॥
vazeer yake bood o hoshamand |
(Another) one of the King's ministers was very shrewd,
ਰਈਯਤ ਨਿਵਾਜ਼ ਅਸਤ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਗਜ਼ੰਦ ॥੭॥
reeyat nivaaz asat dushaman gazand |7|
Who inspired the subject but perpetrated the enemies.(7)
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਹਸਤ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਚਰਾਗ਼ ॥
vazaa dukhatare hasat rauashan charaag |
That minister had a daughter, who was as illuminated as light,
ਕਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਅਜ਼ਾ ਬੂਦ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ॥੮॥
ki naame azaa bood rauashan dimaag |8|
And her name was named 'Roshan Dimaagh' (lit. Enlightened Intellect).(8)
ਬ ਮਕਤਬ ਸਪੁਰਦੰਦ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਤਿਫ਼ਲ ॥
b makatab sapuradand har do tifal |
The King admitted two of his children,
ਕਿ ਤਿਫ਼ਲਸ਼ ਬਸੇ ਰੋਜ਼ ਗਸ਼ਤੰਦ ਖ਼ਿਜ਼ਲ ॥੯॥
ki tifalash base roz gashatand khizal |9|
Who had been sauntering too long, in school.(9)
ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤੰਦ ਦਾਨਾਇ ਮੌਲਾਇ ਰੂਮ ॥
nishasatand daanaae maualaae room |
They were admitted with a wise Maulana (religious priest) of Rome,
ਕਿ ਦਿਰਮਸ਼ ਬਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦ ਆਂ ਮਰਜ਼ ਬੂਮ ॥੧੦॥
ki diramash babakhasheed aan maraz boom |10|
Who had been endowed with wealth and land.(10)
ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤੰਦ ਦਰ ਆਂ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਫ਼ਲੇ ਬਸੇ ॥
nishasatand dar aan jaae tifale base |
Other children were present there too,
ਬੁਖ਼ਾਦੇ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਅਜ਼ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਹਰ ਕਸੇ ॥੧੧॥
bukhaade sukhan az kitaab har kase |11|
Who used to read their lessons from the books.(11)
ਬ ਬਗ਼ਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਰੰਦ ਹਰ ਯਕ ਕਿਤਾਬ ॥
b bagal andar aarand har yak kitaab |
They all would bring their books tucked under their arms,
ਜ਼ਿ ਤਉਰੇਤ ਅੰਜੀਲ ਵਜਹੇ ਅਦਾਬ ॥੧੨॥
zi tauret anjeel vajahe adaab |12|
Often there were discussions on Tohra and Anjeel.(12)
ਦੁ ਮਕਤਬ ਕੁਨਾਨੀਦ ਹਫ਼ਤ ਅਜ਼ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ॥
du makatab kunaaneed hafat az zubaa |
For the teaching of seven languages, two schools were established.
ਯਕੇ ਮਰਦ ਬੁਖ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਦੀਗਰ ਜ਼ਨਾ ॥੧੩॥
yake marad bukhaadand deegar zanaa |13|
One for the males; the other for the females.(13)
ਕਿ ਤਿਫ਼ਲਾ ਬੁਖ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਮੁਲਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਸ਼ ॥
ki tifalaa bukhaadand mulaa khushash |
The boys were taught by a Maulana, (A male Islamic scholar),
ਜ਼ਨਾਰਾ ਬੁਖ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਜ਼ਨੇ ਫ਼ਾਜ਼ਲਸ਼ ॥੧੪॥
zanaaraa bukhaadand zane faazalash |14|
A knowledgeable lady instructed the girls.(14)
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਦਰਮਿਯਾ ਬੂਦ ਦੀਵਾਰ ਜ਼ੀਂ ॥
vazaa daramiyaa bood deevaar zeen |
A wall was built between the two sections,
ਯਕੇ ਆਂ ਤਰਫ਼ ਬੂਦ ਯਕੇ ਤਰਫ਼ ਈਂ ॥੧੫॥
yake aan taraf bood yake taraf een |15|
The boys were kept on the one side and girls on the other.(15)
ਸਬਕ ਬੁਰਦ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਜ਼ਿ ਹਰ ਯਕ ਹੁਨਰ ॥
sabak burad har do zi har yak hunar |
Both sides were endeavouring hard,
ਇਲਮ ਕਸ਼ਮਕਸ਼ ਕਰਦ ਬਾ ਯਕ ਦਿਗਰ ॥੧੬॥
eilam kashamakash karad baa yak digar |16|
To learn and excel over the other side,(16)
ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਹਰ ਯਕੇ ਰਾਦ ਹਰ ਯਕ ਕਿਤਾਬ ॥
sukhan har yake raad har yak kitaab |
Everyone read all the books,
ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਫ਼ਰਸ਼ ਅਰਬੀ ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਜਵਾਬ ॥੧੭॥
zubaa farash arabee bigoyad javaab |17|
Which were written both in Persian and Arabic.(17)
ਇਲਮ ਰਾ ਸੁਖਨ ਰਾਦ ਬਾ ਯਕ ਦਿਗਰ ॥
eilam raa sukhan raad baa yak digar |
They discussed education among themselves,
ਜ਼ਿ ਕਾਮਲ ਜ਼ਿ ਜ਼ਾਯਲ ਜ਼ਿ ਨਾਰਦ ਸਿਯਰ ॥੧੮॥
zi kaamal zi zaayal zi naarad siyar |18|
Irrespective of the fact whether they were intelligent or irrational.(18)
ਕਿ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੇਰ ਇਲਮੋ ਅਲਮਬਰ ਕਸ਼ੀਦ ॥
ki shamasher ilamo alamabar kasheed |
They raised the flags to acquire education for the swordsmanship,
ਬਹਾਰੇ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਬ ਹਰਦੋ ਰਸ਼ੀਦ ॥੧੯॥
bahaare javaanee b harado rasheed |19|
As soon as they reached the ages of maturity.(19)
ਬਹਾਰਸ਼ ਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਗੁਲੇ ਦੋਸਤਾ ॥
bahaarash dar aamad gule dosataa |
As the spring season approached,
ਬਜੁੰਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਸਹੇ ਚੀਸਤਾ ॥੨੦॥
bajunbash daraamad sahe cheesataa |20|
In both the factions, the China syndrome sprung up.(20)
ਬਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਸ਼ਹਿਨਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਚੀਂ ॥
barakhash andar aamad shahinashaeh cheen |
Like the King of kings of China, their desires rose,
ਬਖ਼ੂਬੀ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਤਨੇ ਨਾਜ਼ਨੀਂ ॥੨੧॥
bakhoobee daraamad tane naazaneen |21|
Particularly, the ladies achieved the beauteous treats.(21)
ਬ ਖ਼ੂਬੀ ਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਗੁਲੇ ਬੋਸਤਾ ॥
b khoobee dar aamad gule bosataa |
All of them blossomed like garden,
ਬ ਐਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਦਿਲੇ ਦੋਸਤਾ ॥੨੨॥
b aish andar aamad dile dosataa |22|
And all the friends indulged in merriment.(22)
ਜ਼ਿ ਦੇਵਾਰ ਜੋ ਅੰਦਰੂੰ ਮੂਸ ਹਸਤ ॥
zi devaar jo andaroon moos hasat |
Inside that wall, a mouse used to live,
ਜ਼ਿ ਦੇਵਾਰ ਓ ਹਮ ਚੂੰ ਸੂਰਾਖ ਗਸ਼ਤ ॥੨੩॥
zi devaar o ham choon sooraakh gashat |23|
Which had caused holes to appear in the wall.(23)
ਬ ਦੀਦਨ ਅਜ਼ਾ ਅੰਦਰੂੰ ਹਰ ਦੁ ਤਨ ॥
b deedan azaa andaroon har du tan |
Through them two (people) used to observe each other,
ਚਰਾਗ਼ੇ ਜਹਾ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬੇ ਯਮਨ ॥੨੪॥
charaage jahaa aafataabe yaman |24|
One was the light of the universe and the other sun of the Yamanee Skies.(24)
ਚੁਨਾ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਆਵੇਖ਼ਤ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਨਿਹਾ ॥
chunaa ishak aavekhat har do nihaa |
Thus those two were trapped in the love affair,
ਕਿ ਇਲਮਸ਼ ਰਵਦ ਦਸਤ ਹੋਸ਼ ਅਜ਼ ਜਹਾ ॥੨੫॥
ki ilamash ravad dasat hosh az jahaa |25|
And they neglected their education and the worldly awareness.(25)
ਚੁਨਾ ਹਰ ਦੁ ਆਵੇਖ਼ਤ ਬਾਹਮ ਰਗ਼ੇਬ ॥
chunaa har du aavekhat baaham rageb |
Their entanglement in the love was so intense,
ਕਿ ਦਸਤ ਅਜ਼ ਇਨਾਰਫ਼ਤ ਪਾ ਅਜ਼ ਰਕੇਬ ॥੨੬॥
ki dasat az inaarafat paa az rakeb |26|
That both of them lost the senses of managing the stirrups of their horses.(26)
ਬ ਪੁਰਸ਼ੀਦ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਕਿ ਏ ਨੇਕ ਖ਼ੋਇ ॥
b purasheed har do ki e nek khoe |
They both asked each other, ‘Oh the cherished one, you are like the sun,
ਕਿ ਏ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬੇ ਜਹਾ ਮਾਹ ਰੋਇ ॥੨੭॥
ki e aafataabe jahaa maah roe |27|
‘And you, the Enlightener of the universe, and taking after the moon, how are you?’(27)
ਕਿ ਈਂ ਹਾਲ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦ ਬ ਆਂ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਤਨ ॥
ki een haal guzarad b aan har do tan |
When both of them were passing through such a state,
ਬਿ ਪੁਰਸ਼ੀਦ ਅਖ਼ਵੰਦ ਵ ਅਖ਼ਵੰਦ ਜ਼ਨ ॥੨੮॥
bi purasheed akhavand v akhavand zan |28|
Both, the male and female teachers, asked,(28)
ਚਰਾਗ਼ੇ ਫ਼ਲਕ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬੇ ਜਹਾ ॥
charaage falak aafataabe jahaa |
‘O, you the lamp of the skies and the Enlightener of the universe,
ਚਰਾ ਲਾਗਰੀ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਵਜਹੇ ਨੁਮਾ ॥੨੯॥
charaa laagaree gashat vajahe numaa |29|
‘Why do you seem to be languishing?(29)
ਚਿ ਆਜ਼ਾਰ ਗਸ਼ਤਹ ਬੁਗੋ ਜਾਨ ਮਾ ॥
chi aazaar gashatah bugo jaan maa |
‘Tell us, our loved ones, what has distressed you?
ਕਿ ਲਾਗ਼ਰ ਚਰਾ ਗਸ਼ਤੀ ਏ ਜਾਨ ਮਾ ॥੩੦॥
ki laagar charaa gashatee e jaan maa |30|
Facially you look so weak?(30)
ਅਜ਼ਾਰਸ਼ ਬੁਗੋ ਤਾ ਇਲਾਜੇ ਕੁਨਮ ॥
azaarash bugo taa ilaaje kunam |
‘Tell us about your afflictions so that we can suggest you remedies.
ਕਿ ਮਰਜ਼ੇ ਸ਼ੁਮਾ ਰਾ ਖ਼ਿਰਾਜ਼ੇ ਕੁਨਮ ॥੩੧॥
ki maraze shumaa raa khiraaze kunam |31|
‘We may be able to prescribe some medicine.’(31)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦ ਈਂ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਰਾ ਨ ਦਾਦਸ਼ ਜਵਾਬ ॥
shuneed een sukhan raa na daadash javaab |
Both listened but did not try to respond,
ਫ਼ਰੋ ਬੁਰਦ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਤਨੇ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਤਾਬ ॥੩੨॥
faro burad har do tane ishak taab |32|
And hung their heads under the stress of love.(32)
ਚੁ ਗੁਜ਼ਰੀਦ ਬਰਵੈ ਦੁ ਸੇ ਚਾਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ॥
chu guzareed baravai du se chaar roz |
When two, three or four days had lapsed,
ਬਰਾਮਦ ਦੁ ਤਨ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਗੇਤੀ ਫ਼ਰੋਜ਼ ॥੩੩॥
baraamad du tan har do getee faroz |33|
Both the bodies became conspicuous in love.(33)
ਬਰੋ ਦੂਰ ਗਸ਼ਤੰਦ ਤਿਫ਼ਲੀ ਗ਼ੁਬਾਰ ॥
baro door gashatand tifalee gubaar |
The innocent childhood emotions were decimated,
ਕਿ ਮੁਹਰਸ਼ ਬਰ ਆਵੁਰਦ ਚੂੰ ਨੌਬਹਾਰ ॥੩੪॥
ki muharash bar aavurad choon nauabahaar |34|
And the new sun came out with fresh inception.(34)
ਵਜ਼ਾ ਫ਼ਾਜ਼ਲਸ਼ ਬੂਦ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਯਕੇ ॥
vazaa faazalash bood dukhatar yake |
She (the girl) was the daughter of a very genius,
ਕਿ ਸੂਰਤ ਜਮਾਲ ਅਸਤ ਦਾਨਸ਼ ਬਸ਼ੇ ॥੩੫॥
ki soorat jamaal asat daanash bashe |35|
And she was extremely pretty and intelligent.(35)
ਸ਼ਨਾਸੀਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਜ਼ਿ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਜ਼ਾ ॥
shanaaseed o raa zi haalat vazaa |
He (the boy) had recognised her from her apparent condition,
ਬਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਸ਼ ਦਰੂੰ ਖ਼ਿਲਵਤਸ਼ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ॥੩੬॥
bagafatash daroon khilavatash khush zubaa |36|
He took her in seclusion and cordially said,(36)
ਕਿ ਏ ਸਰਵ ਕਦ ਮਾਹ ਰੋ ਸੀਮ ਤਨ ॥
ki e sarav kad maah ro seem tan |
‘O you, the one as tall as cypress tree, moon-faced and silvery body,
ਚਰਾਗ਼ੇ ਫ਼ਲਕ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬੇ ਯਮਨ ॥੩੭॥
charaage falak aafataabe yaman |37|
‘You the light of the skies and sun of Yaman,(37)
ਜੁਦਾਈ ਮਰਾ ਅਜ਼ ਤੁਰਾ ਕਤਰਹ ਨੇਸਤ ॥
judaaee maraa az turaa katarah nesat |
‘I cannot live without you, even for a moment.
ਬ ਦੀਦਨ ਦੁ ਕਾਲਬ ਬ ਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਮ ਯਕੇਸਤ ॥੩੮॥
b deedan du kaalab b gufatam yakesat |38|
‘May be we seem to be two bodies but we are one.(38)
ਬ ਮਨ ਹਾਲ ਗੋ ਤਾ ਚਿ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦ ਤੁਰਾ ॥
b man haal go taa chi guzarad turaa |
‘You tell me, how are you savouring?
ਕਿ ਸੋਜ਼ਦ ਹਮਹ ਜਾਨ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਮਰਾ ॥੩੯॥
ki sozad hamah jaan jigare maraa |39|
‘My mind and body are always yearning for you.(39)
ਕਿ ਪਿਨਹਾ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਕਰਦ ਯਾਰਾ ਖ਼ਤਾਸਤ ॥
ki pinahaa sukhan karad yaaraa khataasat |
‘To hide the fact from friends is erroneous.
ਅਗਰ ਰਾਸ ਗੋਈ ਤੁ ਬਰ ਮਨ ਰਵਾਸਤ ॥੪੦॥
agar raas goee tu bar man ravaasat |40|
‘To reveal the truth will be congenial for you and me.(40)
ਕਿ ਦੀਗਰ ਬਗੋਯਮ ਮਰਾ ਰਾਸਤ ਗੋ ॥
ki deegar bagoyam maraa raasat go |
‘If you reveal the truth to me, I will never betray,
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਮਰਾ ਤੋ ਬਿਸ਼ੋ ॥੪੧॥
ki az khoon jigare maraa to bisho |41|
‘And I swear this on my life.(41)
ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਦੁਜ਼ਦਗੀ ਕਰਦ ਯਾਰਾ ਖ਼ਤਾਸਤ ॥
sukhan duzadagee karad yaaraa khataasat |
‘To hide the fact from the friends is a sin,
ਅਮੀਰਾਨ ਦੁਜ਼ਦੀ ਵਜ਼ੀਰਾ ਖ਼ਤਾਸਤ ॥੪੨॥
ameeraan duzadee vazeeraa khataasat |42|
‘Like the minister keeping secret from the king.(42)
ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਨੇ ਰਾਸਤ ਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਨ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਅਸਤ ॥
sukhan gufatane raasat gufatan khush asat |
‘It is always beneficial to reveal and tell the fact.
ਕਿ ਹਕ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਨੋ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਸਾਫ਼ੀ ਦਿਲ ਅਸਤ ॥੪੩॥
ki hak gufatano ham chu saafee dil asat |43|
‘Speaking the truth is the norm of a truthful mind.’(43)
ਬਸੇ ਬਾਰ ਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਸ਼ ਜਵਾਬੋ ਨ ਦਾਦ ॥
base baar gufatash javaabo na daad |
He asked repeatedly but there was no reply,
ਜਵਾਬੇ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਸ਼ੀਰੀ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਦ ॥੪੪॥
javaabe zubaa sukhan sheeree kushaad |44|
Although she had expressed to seek truth.(44)
ਯਕੇ ਮਜਲਿਸ ਆਰਾਸਤ ਬਾ ਰੋਦ ਜਾਮ ॥
yake majalis aaraasat baa rod jaam |
Then he arranged a social gathering with so much music, and a drinking spree,
ਕਿ ਹਮ ਮਸਤ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਮਜਲਸੇ ਓ ਤਮਾਮ ॥੪੫॥
ki ham masat shud majalase o tamaam |45|
In which every one present in the assembly got drunk.(45)
ਬ ਕੈਫ਼ਸ਼ ਹਮਹ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਆਵੇਖ਼ਤੰਦ ॥
b kaifash hamah ham chu aavekhatand |
They all were getting so much intoxicated,
ਕਿ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੇ ਜਿਗਰ ਬਾਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਰੇਖ਼ਤੰਦ ॥੪੬॥
ki zakhame jigar baazubaa rekhatand |46|
That what ever there was in their hearts, they were blabbing out.(46)
ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਬਾ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਗੋਯਦ ਮੁਦਾਮ ॥
sukhan baa zubaa ham chu goyad mudaam |
Their tongues were constantly reiterating,
ਨ ਗੋਯਦ ਬਜੁਜ਼ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਮਹਬੂਬ ਨਾਮ ॥੪੭॥
n goyad bajuz sukhan mahaboob naam |47|
And except their lovers’ names, they were uttering nothing.(47)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਮਜਲਿਸ ਆਰਾਸਤ ਬਾ ਰੋਦ ਚੰਗ ॥
digar majalis aaraasat baa rod chang |
Then the daughter of Maulana, arranged another social,
ਜਵਾਨਾਨ ਸ਼ਾਇਸਤਹੇ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਰੰਗ ॥੪੮॥
javaanaan shaaeisatahe khoob rang |48|
Which was just for the colourful young and handsome.(48)
ਹਮਹ ਮਸਤ ਖ਼ੋ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਹਮਹ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਮਸਤ ॥
hamah masat kho shud hamah khoob masat |
All of them became tipsy and inebriated,
ਇਨਾਨੇ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੀਲਤ ਬਰੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਦਸਤ ॥੪੯॥
einaane fazeelat baroon shud zi dasat |49|
And passed over the limits if intellectuals.(49)
ਹਰਾ ਕਸ ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਇਲਮ ਸੁਖ਼ਨਸ਼ ਬਿਰਾਦ ॥
haraa kas ki az ilam sukhanash biraad |
Any one who wanted to talk to them about education,
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਬੇਖ਼ੁਦੀ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਦੋ ਬੁਖਾਦ ॥੫੦॥
ki az bekhudee naam harado bukhaad |50|
They, being drunk, kept on repeating their lovers’ names.(50)
ਚੁ ਇਲਮੋ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੀਲਤ ਫਰਾਮੋਸ਼ ਗਸ਼ਤ ॥
chu ilamo fazeelat faraamosh gashat |
As the intellect and the presence of mind flew away,
ਬੁਖ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਬਾ ਯਕ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਨਾਮ ਮਸਤ ॥੫੧॥
bukhaadand baa yak digar naam masat |51|
They kept on reciting each other’s names only.(51)
ਹਰਾ ਕਸ ਕਿ ਦੇਰੀਨਹ ਰਾ ਹਸਤ ਦੋਸਤ ॥
haraa kas ki dereenah raa hasat dosat |
Every one who had some old friend,
ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਯਿੰਦਹ ਅਜ਼ ਨਾਮ ਓਸਤ ॥੫੨॥
zubaa khud kushaayindah az naam osat |52|
Would keep on repeating friends name again and again.(52)
ਸ਼ਨਾਸ਼ਿਦ ਕਿ ਈਂ ਗੁਲ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਆਸ਼ਕ ਅਸਤ ॥
shanaashid ki een gul sukhan aashak asat |
As with such an action one was acknowledged as the lover,
ਬ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਨ ਹੁਮਾਯੂੰ ਸੁਬਕ ਤਨ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਅਸਤ ॥੫੩॥
b gufatan humaayoon subak tan khush asat |53|
Who could speak cordially and looked handsome and happy.(53)
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਵ ਅਜ਼ ਮੁਸ਼ਕ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ਮਰ ਖ਼ੂੰ ॥
ki az ishak v az mushak az khamar khoon |
Those, who were imbued in love and smelled liquor,
ਕਿ ਪਿਨਹਾ ਨ ਮਾਦ ਅਸਤ ਆਮਦ ਬਰੂੰ ॥੫੪॥
ki pinahaa na maad asat aamad baroon |54|
Could not remain hidden and, in due course, were revealed.(54)
ਬ ਸ਼ਹਰ ਅੰਦਰੂੰ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਸ਼ੁਹਰਤ ਪਜ਼ੀਰ ॥
b shehar andaroon gashat shuharat pazeer |
The news spread in the city like a wild fire,
ਕਿ ਆਜ਼ਾਦਹੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੁ ਵ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ॥੫੫॥
ki aazaadahe shaahu v dukhatar vazeer |55|
That the son of the king and the daughter of the minister are openly in love.(55)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦ ਈਂ ਸੁਖ਼ਨ ਸ਼ਹਿ ਦੁ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬੁਖਾਦ ॥
shuneed een sukhan sheh du kishatee bukhaad |
When the King heard this news, he asked for two boats.
ਜੁਦਾ ਬਰ ਜੁਦਾ ਹਰ ਦੁ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਦ ॥੫੬॥
judaa bar judaa har du kishatee nishaad |56|
He put them both in separate ferries.(56)
ਰਵਾ ਕਰਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਬ ਦਰੀਯਾ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥
ravaa karad o raa b dareeyaa azeem |
He let loose both of them in the deep river,
ਦੁ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਯਕੇ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਹਮਹ ਮੌਜ ਬੀਮ ॥੫੭॥
du kishatee yake shud hamah mauaj beem |57|
But through the waves both the vessels joined together.(57)
ਦੁ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਯਕੇ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਬ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅਲਾਹ ॥
du kishatee yake gashat b hukame alaah |
By the grace of God, both were reunited,
ਬ ਯਕ ਜਾ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਹੁਮਾ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ ਮਾਹ ॥੫੮॥
b yak jaa daraamad humaa shamash maah |58|
And both, like the sun and the moon, were amalgamated.(58)
ਬੁਬੀਂ ਕੁਦਰਤੇ ਕਿਰਦਗਾਰੇ ਅਲਾਹ ॥
bubeen kudarate kiradagaare alaah |
Look at the creation of Allah, the God Almighty,
ਦੁ ਤਨ ਰਾ ਯਕੇ ਕਰਦ ਅਜ਼ ਹੁਕਮ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ॥੫੯॥
du tan raa yake karad az hukam shaeh |59|
Through His order He merges the two bodies into one.(59)
ਦੁ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬ ਯਕ ਜਾ ਦੁ ਤਨ ॥
du kishatee daraamad b yak jaa du tan |
United into one from two boats were two bodies,
ਚਰਾਗ਼ੇ ਜਹਾ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬੇ ਯਮਨ ॥੬੦॥
charaage jahaa aafataabe yaman |60|
Of which one was light of Arabia and the other the moon of Yaman.(60)
ਬਿ ਰਫ਼ਤੰਦ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬ ਦਰੀਯਾਇ ਗਾਰ ॥
bi rafatand kishatee b dareeyaae gaar |
The boats had floated and entered into the deep waters.
ਬ ਮੌਜ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਬਰਗੇ ਬਹਾਰ ॥੬੧॥
b mauaj andar aamad chu barage bahaar |61|
And in the water they came floating like the spring leaves.(61)
ਯਕੇ ਅਜ਼ਦਹਾ ਬੂਦ ਆਂ ਜਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤ ॥
yake azadahaa bood aan jaa nishasat |
There, sat a huge snake,
ਬ ਖ਼ੁਰਦਨ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਵਜ਼ਾ ਕਰਦ ਜਸਤ ॥੬੨॥
b khuradan daraamad vazaa karad jasat |62|
Which pounced forward to eat them.(62)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਤਰ ਬੂਦ ਕਹਰੇ ਬਲਾ ॥
digar pesh tar bood kahare balaa |
From the other end appeared a ghost,
ਦੁ ਦਸਤਸ਼ ਸਤੂੰ ਕਰਦ ਬੇ ਸਰ ਨੁਮਾ ॥੬੩॥
du dasatash satoon karad be sar numaa |63|
Who raised her hands, which looked like headless pillars.(63)
ਮਿਯਾ ਰਫ਼ਤ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਏ ਹਰ ਦੁ ਦਸਤ ॥
miyaa rafat shud kishatee har du dasat |
The boat slipped through under the protection of the hands,
ਬਨੇਸ੍ਵੇ ਦਮਾਨਦ ਅਜ਼ੋ ਮਾਰ ਮਸਤ ॥੬੪॥
banesve damaanad azo maar masat |64|
And they both escaped the hidden intention of the snake,(64)
ਗਰਿਫ਼ਤੰਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਬਦਸਤ ਅੰਦਰੂੰ ॥
garafatand o raa badasat andaroon |
Which (the snake) had intended to catch them to suck (them).
ਬ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਨ ਖ਼ੁਰਦੰਦ ਖ਼ੂੰ ॥੬੫॥
b bakhasheed o raa na khuradand khoon |65|
But the All Benevolent saved their blood.(65)
ਚੁਨਾ ਜੰਗ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਅਜ਼ਦਹਾ ਬਾ ਬਲਾ ॥
chunaa jang shud azadahaa baa balaa |
A war between snake and ghost was imminent,
ਕਿ ਬੇਰੂੰ ਨਿਆਮਦ ਬ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ॥੬੬॥
ki beroon niaamad b hukame khudaa |66|
But, by God’s grace, it did not occur.(66)
ਚੁਨਾ ਮੌਜ ਖ਼ੇਜ਼ਦ ਜਿ ਦਰੀਯਾ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥
chunaa mauaj khezad ji dareeyaa azeem |
High waves sprung from the great river,
ਕਿ ਦੀਗਰ ਨ ਦਾਨਿਸਤ ਜੁਜ਼ ਯਕ ਕਰੀਮ ॥੬੭॥
ki deegar na daanisat juz yak kareem |67|
And this secret, except God, no body could acquiesce.(67)
ਰਵਾ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬ ਮੌਜੇ ਬਲਾ ॥
ravaa gashat kishatee b mauaje balaa |
The rowing boat was struck with the high waves,
ਬਰਾਹੇ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਜ਼ਿ ਰਹਮਤ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ॥੬੮॥
baraahe khalaasee zi rahamat khudaa |68|
And the incumbents prayed for escape.(68)
ਬ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਹਮ ਅਜ਼ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਰਵਰਦਿਗਾਰ ॥
b aakhar ham az hukam paravaradigaar |
At the end with the will of God, the Almighty,
ਕਿ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬਰ ਆਮਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਦਰੀਯਾ ਕਿਨਾਰ ॥੬੯॥
ki kishatee bar aamad zi dareeyaa kinaar |69|
The boat reached the safety of the bank.(69)
ਕਿ ਬੇਰੂੰ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਅਜ਼ਾ ਹਰ ਦੁ ਤਨ ॥
ki beroon baraamad azaa har du tan |
ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤਹ ਲਬੇ ਆਬ ਦਰੀਯਾ ਯਮਨ ॥੭੦॥
nishasatah labe aab dareeyaa yaman |70|
ਬਰਾਮਦ ਯਕੇ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੀਦਨ ਸ਼ਿਤਾਬ ॥
baraamad yake sher deedan shitaab |
Both of them came out of the boat,
ਬ ਖ਼ੁਰਦਨ ਅਜ਼ਾ ਹਰ ਦੁ ਤਨ ਰਾ ਕਬਾਬ ॥੭੧॥
b khuradan azaa har du tan raa kabaab |71|
And sat down on the banks of the river.(71)
ਜ਼ਿ ਦਰੀਯਾ ਬਰ ਆਮਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਮਗਰੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥
zi dareeyaa bar aamad zi magare azeem |
Suddenly an alligator jumped out,
ਖ਼ੁਰਮ ਹਰ ਦੁ ਤਨ ਰਾ ਬ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਰੀਮ ॥੭੨॥
khuram har du tan raa b hukame kareem |72|
To eat them both as if it was God’s will.(72)
ਬਜਾਇਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਿਤਾਬ ॥
bajaaeish daraamad zi shere shitaab |
Suddenly a lion appeared and it jumped ahead,
ਗਜ਼ੰਦਸ਼ ਹਮੀ ਬੁਰਦ ਬਰ ਰੋਦ ਆਬ ॥੭੩॥
gazandash hamee burad bar rod aab |73|
It lunged over the water of the stream.(73)
ਬ ਪੇਚੀਦ ਸਰ ਓ ਖ਼ਤਾ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਸ਼ੇਰ ॥
b pecheed sar o khataa gashat sher |
They turned their heads, lion’s attack was deflected,
ਬ ਦਹਨੇ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਅਫ਼ਤਦ ਦਲੇਰ ॥੭੪॥
b dahane digar dushaman afatad daler |74|
And its futile bravery put (lion) in other’s (alligator’s) mouth.(74)
ਬ ਗੀਰਦ ਮਗਰ ਦਸਤ ਸ਼ੇਰੋ ਸ਼ਿਤਾਬ ॥
b geerad magar dasat shero shitaab |
The alligator caught half of lion with its paw,
ਬ ਬੁਰਦੰਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਕਸ਼ੀਦਹ ਦਰ ਆਬ ॥੭੫॥
b buradand o raa kasheedah dar aab |75|
And dragged him into the deep water.(75)
ਬੁਬੀਂ ਕੁਦਰਤੇ ਕਿਰਦਗਾਰੇ ਜਹਾ ॥
bubeen kudarate kiradagaare jahaa |
Look at the creations of the Creator of the Universe,
ਕਿ ਈਂ ਰਾ ਬ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦ ਕੁਸਤਸ਼ ਅਜ਼ਾ ॥੭੬॥
ki een raa b bakhasheed kusatash azaa |76|
(He) endowed them life and annihilated the lion.(76)
ਬਿ ਰਫ਼ਤੰਦ ਹਰਦੋ ਬ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅਮੀਰ ॥
bi rafatand harado b hukame ameer |
Both embarked to act according the will of God,
ਯਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਹਜ਼ਾਦਹ ਬ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ॥੭੭॥
yake shaahazaadah b dukhatar vazeer |77|
One was King’s son and the other Minister’s daughter.(77)
ਬਿ ਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਬ ਦਸਤੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥
bi afataad har do b dasate azeem |
They both occupied a derelict place to relax,
ਨ ਸ਼ਾਯਦ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਦੀਦ ਜੁਜ਼ ਯਕ ਕਰੀਮ ॥੭੮॥
n shaayad digar deed juz yak kareem |78|
So that they could not be noticed by any body,(78)
ਬ ਮੁਲਕੇ ਹਬਸ਼ ਆਮਦ ਆਂ ਨੇਕ ਖ਼ੋਇ ॥
b mulake habash aamad aan nek khoe |
They both had reached a congenial and amicable country,
ਯਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਹਜ਼ਾਦਹ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਰੋਇ ॥੭੯॥
yake shaahazaadah digar khoob roe |79|
And one was the son of the king and other the daughter of the minister.(79)
ਦਰ ਆਂ ਜਾ ਬਿਆਮਦ ਕਿ ਬਿਨਸ਼ਸਤਹ ਸ਼ਾਹ ॥
dar aan jaa biaamad ki binashasatah shaah |
Then they reached the place where a king was seated,
ਨਸ਼ਸਤੰਦ ਸ਼ਬ ਰੰਗ ਜ਼ਰਰੀਂ ਕੁਲਾਹ ॥੮੦॥
nashasatand shab rang zarareen kulaah |80|
The king was as dark as night, and that black-ruler had a golden cap on.(80)
ਬ ਦੀਦੰਦ ਓਰਾ ਬੁਖ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਪੇਸ਼ ॥
b deedand oraa bukhaadand pesh |
He saw them and called them nearer him,
ਬ ਗੁਫ਼ਤੰਦ ਕਿ ਏ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕੇਸ਼ ॥੮੧॥
b gufatand ki e sher aazaad kesh |81|
And said, ‘Oh my lion hearted ones and the ones of independent will,(81)
ਜ਼ਿ ਮੁਲਕੇ ਕਦਾਮੀ ਤੁ ਬ ਮਨ ਬਗੋ ॥
zi mulake kadaamee tu b man bago |
‘What country you belong to and what is your name?
ਚਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਕਿਰਾ ਤੋ ਬ ਈਂ ਤਰਫ਼ ਜੋ ॥੮੨॥
chi naame kiraa to b een taraf jo |82|
‘And who are you trying to find in this part of the world?’(82)
ਵਗਰਨਹ ਮਰਾ ਤੋ ਨ ਗੋਈਂ ਚੁ ਰਾਸਤ ॥
vagaranah maraa to na goeen chu raasat |
‘If you don’t tell me the truth,
ਕਿ ਮੁਰਦਨ ਸ਼ਿਤਾਬ ਅਸਤ ਏਜ਼ਦ ਗਵਾਹਸਤ ॥੮੩॥
ki muradan shitaab asat ezad gavaahasat |83|
‘Then, God witness, your death is certain.’(83)
ਸ਼ਹਿਨਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਪਿਸਰੇ ਮਮਾਯੰਦਰਾ ॥
shahinashaeh pisare mamaayandaraa |
‘I am the son of the ruler of the country of Mayindra,
ਕਿ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਅਸਤ ਈਂ ਨੌਜਵਾ ॥੮੪॥
ki dukhatar vazeer asat een nauajavaa |84|
‘And she is the daughter of the Minister.’(84)
ਹਕੀਕਤ ਬ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਸ਼ ਜ਼ਿ ਪੇਸ਼ੀਨਹ ਹਾਲ ॥
hakeekat b gufatash zi pesheenah haal |
He narrated all what had happened previously,
ਕਿ ਬਰਵੈ ਚੁ ਬੁਗਜ਼ਸ਼ਤ ਚੰਦੀਂ ਜ਼ਵਾਲ ॥੮੫॥
ki baravai chu bugazashat chandeen zavaal |85|
And explained all the afflictions they had passed through.(85)
ਬ ਮਿਹਰਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤ ਅਜ਼ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ॥
b miharash daraamad bagafat az zubaa |
He (King) was overwhelmed with their affection,
ਮਰਾ ਖ਼ਾਨਹ ਜਾਏ ਜ਼ਿ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਖ਼ਾਨਹ ਦਾ ॥੮੬॥
maraa khaanah jaae zi khud khaanah daa |86|
And said, ‘Consider my house as your own.’(86)
ਵਜ਼ਾਰਤ ਖ਼ੁਦਸ਼ ਰਾ ਤੁਰਾ ਮੇ ਦਿਹਮ ॥
vazaarat khudash raa turaa me diham |
‘I hand over to you my ministerial affairs,
ਕੁਲਾਹੇ ਮੁਮਾਲਕ ਤੁ ਬਰ ਸਰ ਨਿਹਮ ॥੮੭॥
kulaahe mumaalak tu bar sar niham |87|
‘Along with that I will put several countries under your jurisdiction.’(87)
ਬ ਗੁਫ਼ਤੰਦ ਈਂ ਰਾ ਵ ਕਰਦੰਦ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ॥
b gufatand een raa v karadand vazeer |
With this pronouncement he was appointed the Minister,
ਕਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਵਜਾ ਬੂਦ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਜ਼ਮੀਰ ॥੮੮॥
ki naame vajaa bood rauashan zameer |88|
And given the title of Roshan Zameer, the enlightened consciousness.(88)
ਬ ਹਰ ਜਾ ਕਿ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਸ਼ਨਾਸਦ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥
b har jaa ki dushaman shanaasad azeem |
(After taking over,) Whenever he encountered an enemy,
ਦਵੀਦੰਦ ਬਰਵੈ ਬ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਰੀਮ ॥੮੯॥
daveedand baravai b hukame kareem |89|
With God’s benevolence, he raided the adversary.(89)
ਕਿ ਖ਼ੂਨਸ਼ ਬਰੇਜ਼ੀਦ ਕਰਦੰਦ ਜ਼ੇਰ ॥
ki khoonash barezeed karadand zer |
He would not hesitate to spill his own blood,
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਜਾ ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦੇ ਦਵੀਦੇ ਦਲੇਰ ॥੯੦॥
digar jaa shuneede daveede daler |90|
And would do the same at any other rebellious place.(90)
ਬ ਹਰ ਜਾ ਕਿ ਤਰਕਸ਼ ਬਰੇਜ਼ੰਦ ਤੀਰ ॥
b har jaa ki tarakash barezand teer |
Whenever he would shoot an arrow from his quiver,
ਬ ਕੁਸ਼ਤੇ ਅਦੂਰਾ ਬ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਸੀਰ ॥੯੧॥
b kushate adooraa b karade aseer |91|
He would annihilate the enemy there and then.(91)
ਬ ਮੁਦਤ ਯਕੇ ਸਾਲ ਤਾ ਚਾਰ ਮਾਹ ॥
b mudat yake saal taa chaar maah |
When a period of one year and four months had lapsed,
ਦਰਿਖ਼ਸ਼ਿੰਦਹ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ਿੰਦਹ ਮਾਹ ॥੯੨॥
darakhashindah aamad chu rakhashindah maah |92|
He became as famous in the country as the moon in the sky,(92)
ਬਦੋਜ਼ੰਦ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਬਸੋਜ਼ੰਦ ਤਨ ॥
badozand dushaman basozand tan |
After stringing them through arrows he had nettled the enemies,
ਬਯਾਦ ਆਮਦਸ਼ ਰੋਜ਼ਗਾਰੇ ਕੁਹਨ ॥੯੩॥
bayaad aamadash rozagaare kuhan |93|
And reminisced on the old days.(93)
ਬ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਸ਼ ਯਕੇ ਰੋਜ਼ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ॥
b gufatash yake roz dukhatar vazeer |
One day the daughter of the minister said to him,
ਕਿ ਏ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਨ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਜ਼ਮੀਰ ॥੯੪॥
ki e shaah shaahaan rauashan zameer |94|
‘Oh, you the king of kings and the enlightened one,(94)
ਬ ਯਕ ਬਾਰ ਮੁਲਕਤ ਫ਼ਰਾਮੋਸ਼ ਗ਼ਸ਼ਤ ॥
b yak baar mulakat faraamosh gashat |
‘Instantly you have forgotten your own country,
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਮਸਤ ਮਸਤੀ ਹਮਹ ਹੋਸ਼ ਗਸ਼ਤ ॥੯੫॥
ki az masat masatee hamah hosh gashat |95|
‘And being adorned with success, you have forgotten your own- self.(95)
ਤੁ ਆਂ ਮੁਲਕ ਪੇਸ਼ੀਨਹ ਰਾ ਯਾਦ ਕੁਨ ॥
tu aan mulak pesheenah raa yaad kun |
‘Remember your own country, ‘Where lies your paternal city.
ਕਿ ਸ਼ਹਰੇ ਪਦਰ ਰਾ ਤੁ ਆਬਾਦ ਕੁਨ ॥੯੬॥
ki shahare padar raa tu aabaad kun |96|
You must go and rehabilitate it.’(96)
ਨਿਗਹ ਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਅਜ਼ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਤਮਾਮ ॥
nigah daashat az fauaj lashakar tamaam |
He had always been keeping vigil on this army,
ਬਸੇ ਗੰਜ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦ ਬਰ ਵੈ ਮੁਦਾਮ ॥੯੭॥
base ganj bakhasheed bar vai mudaam |97|
And had been distributing the wealth (among them).(97)
ਯਕੇ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਆਰਾਸਤ ਚੂੰ ਨੌਬਹਾਰ ॥
yake lashakar aaraasat choon nauabahaar |
One of the contingent, he decorated like the spring season.
ਜ਼ਿ ਖ਼ੰਜਰ ਵ ਗੁਰਜੋ ਵ ਬਕਤਰ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ॥੯੮॥
zi khanjar v gurajo v bakatar hazaar |98|
He provided (them) thousands of daggers, and laced them with armours,(98)
ਜ਼ਿਰਹ ਖ਼ੋਦ ਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਾਨ ਬਰਗਸ਼ਤਵਾਨ ॥
zirah khod khufataan baragashatavaan |
Along with coat-of-mails, he gave them Hindustani swords,
ਜ਼ਿ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੇਰ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਗਿਰਾ ਤਾ ਗਿਰਾਨ ॥੯੯॥
zi shamasher hindee giraa taa giraan |99|
which were very heavy and expensive.(99)
ਜ਼ਿ ਬੰਦੂਕ ਮਸਹਦ ਵ ਚੀਨੀ ਕਮਾਨ ॥
zi bandook masahad v cheenee kamaan |
Also (he gave them) the Guns from the country of Mashad,
ਜ਼ਿਰਹ ਰੂਮ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੇਰ ਹਿੰਦੋਸਤਾਨ ॥੧੦੦॥
zirah room shamasher hindosataan |100|
Including chain-mails of Rome and scimitars of Hindustan.(100)
ਚਿ ਅਜ਼ ਤਾਜ਼ੀ ਅਸਪਾਨ ਪੋਲਾਦ ਨਾਲ ॥
chi az taazee asapaan polaad naal |
They were provided with Arabian horses, (which were) outfitted with steel hooves.
ਹਮਹ ਜੂ ਬਦਹ ਫ਼ੀਲਾਨ ਅਜਿਸ਼ ਬੇ ਮਸਾਲ ॥੧੦੧॥
hamah joo badah feelaan ajish be masaal |101|
Along with all the stimulated elephants, which were as black as the night.(101)
ਹਮਹ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਮਰਦਾ ਵ ਜ਼ੋਰਾਵਰਾ ॥
hamah sher maradaa v zoraavaraa |
All the fighters were very brave,
ਕਿ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਅਫ਼ਕਨਾ ਰਾ ਬਸ਼ਫ਼ ਅਫ਼ਕਨਾ ॥੧੦੨॥
ki sher afakanaa raa bashaf afakanaa |102|
They, the lion hearted ones, could decimate lines after lines (of the enemies).(102)
ਬਰਜ਼ਮ ਅੰਦਰੂੰ ਹਮਚੁ ਪੀਲ ਅਫ਼ਕਨ ਅਸਤ ॥
barazam andaroon hamach peel afakan asat |
Although he was capable of killing an elephant,
ਬਬਜ਼ਮ ਅੰਦਰੂੰ ਚਰਬ ਚਾਲਾਕ ਦਸਤ ॥੧੦੩॥
babazam andaroon charab chaalaak dasat |103|
In the court he prevailed with very sweet tongue and wit.(103)
ਨਿਸ਼ਾ ਮੇ ਦਿਹਦ ਨੇਜ਼ਹ ਰਾ ਨੋਕ ਖ਼ੂੰ ॥
nishaa me dihad nezah raa nok khoon |
His spear was captivating,
ਕਸ਼ੀਦੰਦ ਅਜ਼ ਤੇਗ਼ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਆਬ ਗੂੰ ॥੧੦੪॥
kasheedand az teg zahir aab goon |104|
And the swords were tempered with the poison.(104)
ਯਕੇ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਆਰਾਸਤਹ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਕੋਹ ॥
yake fauaj aaraasatah ham chu koh |
A pyramid of the army was established, which was,
ਜੁਵਾਨਾਨ ਸ਼ਾਇਸਤਹੇ ਯਕ ਗਰੋਹ ॥੧੦੫॥
juvaanaan shaaeisatahe yak garoh |105|
Constituted of very handsome young-men,(105)
ਬਪੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ॥
baposheed dasataar dukhatar vazeer |
The daughter of the Minister put the turban on,
ਬ ਬਸਤੰਦ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੇਰ ਜੁਸਤੰਦ ਤੀਰ ॥੧੦੬॥
b basatand shamasher jusatand teer |106|
And took a quiver full of arrows.(106)
ਬ ਸਰਦਾਰੀਏ ਕਰਦ ਪੇਸ਼ੀਨਹ ਫ਼ੌਜ ॥
b saradaaree karad pesheenah fauaj |
Leading the frontal detachments,
ਰਵਾ ਕਰਦ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਚੁ ਦਰੀਯਾਇ ਮੌਜ ॥੧੦੭॥
ravaa karad lashakar chu dareeyaae mauaj |107|
She led the army like the flowing river.(107)
ਯਕੇ ਗੋਲ ਬਸਤਹ ਚੁ ਅਬਰੇ ਸਿਯਾਹ ॥
yake gol basatah chu abare siyaah |
Like a black cloud, when one contingent was despatched,
ਬ ਲਰਜ਼ੀਦ ਬੂਮੋ ਬ ਲਰਜ਼ੀਦ ਮਾਹ ॥੧੦੮॥
b larazeed boomo b larazeed maah |108|
The earth shook and the moon trembled.(108)
ਬਿਯਾਵੁਰਦ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਚੁ ਬਰ ਵੈ ਹਦੂਦ ॥
biyaavurad lashakar chu bar vai hadood |
When the border was butted by the army,
ਸਲਾਹੇ ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਤੀਰ ਤੇਗ਼ੋ ਨਮੂਦ ॥੧੦੯॥
salaahe digar teer tego namood |109|
Which was equipped with arrows, swords and many other arms,(109)
ਬਿਆਰਾਸਤ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਬ ਸਾਜ਼ੇ ਤਮਾਮ ॥
biaaraasat lashakar b saaze tamaam |
And also provided were the weapons,
ਹਮਹ ਖ਼ੰਜਰੋ ਗੁਰਜ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਨਾਮ ॥੧੧੦॥
hamah khanjaro guraj gopaal naam |110|
Known as daggers, maces and slingshots,(110)
ਬ ਬੁਰਦੰਦ ਅਕਲੀਮ ਤਾ ਰਾਜ ਤਖ਼ਤ ॥
b buradand akaleem taa raaj takhat |
Then was plundered the country of Akleem,
ਬ ਬੁਰਦਨ ਸ਼ਹੇ ਬਾਦ ਪਾਯਾਨ ਰਖ਼ਤ ॥੧੧੧॥
b buradan shahe baad paayaan rakhat |111|
And one ruler took away the flying-horses and other outfits.(111)
ਚੁਨਾ ਜੰਗ ਕਰਦੰਦ ਆਂ ਮੁਲਕ ਰਾ ॥
chunaa jang karadand aan mulak raa |
The worn-torn country was left like,
ਚੁ ਬਰਗੇ ਦਰਖ਼ਤਾ ਜ਼ਿ ਬਾਦੇ ਸਬਾ ॥੧੧੨॥
chu barage darakhataa zi baade sabaa |112|
The trees, which are made barren during the fall.(112)
ਬ ਕੁਸ਼ਤਨ ਅਦੂਰਾ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਯਦ ਬ ਪੇਸ਼ ॥
b kushatan adooraa kushaayad b pesh |
The defeat of the enemy opened all the annuls to march forward,
ਬ ਬੇਰੂੰ ਜ਼ਿ ਮੁਲਕਸ਼ ਹਮਹ ਰੂਹ ਰੇਸ਼ ॥੧੧੩॥
b beroon zi mulakash hamah rooh resh |113|
And the opponents were left behind humiliated.(113)
ਪਰੀ ਚਿਹਰਏ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਨਿਯਾਦ ॥
paree chihare ham chu shere niyaad |
Her fairy-like features depicted the lion’s courage,
ਬ ਕੁਸ਼ਤਨ ਅਦੂਰਾ ਕਿ ਖ਼ੰਜਰ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਦ ॥੧੧੪॥
b kushatan adooraa ki khanjar kushaad |114|
And she drew her dagger out of scabbard with great gusto.(114)
ਬ ਹਰ ਜਾ ਦਵੀਦੇ ਬ ਕੁਸ਼ਤੇ ਅਜ਼ਾ ॥
b har jaa daveede b kushate azaa |
Who so ever she raided, she annihilated,
ਬ ਹਰ ਜਾ ਰਸ਼ੀਦੇ ਬ ਬਸਤੇ ਅਜ਼ਾ ॥੧੧੫॥
b har jaa rasheede b basate azaa |115|
And captured the place and claimed it as her own.(115)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦ ਈਂ ਅਜ਼ਾ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਮਾਯੰਦਰਾ ॥
shuneed een azaa shaeh maayandaraa |
When the ruler of Mayindra heard,
ਬ ਤੁੰਦੀ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬਜਾਇਸ਼ ਹੁਮਾ ॥੧੧੬॥
b tundee daraamad bajaaeish humaa |116|
He marched towards that place.(116)
ਬ ਆਰਾਸਤਹ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਚੂੰ ਨੌਬਹਾਰ ॥
b aaraasatah fauaj choon nauabahaar |
He aligned his forces like the crops of spring,
ਜ਼ਿ ਤੋਪੇ ਤੁਪਕ ਖ਼ੰਜਰੇ ਆਬਦਾਰ ॥੧੧੭॥
zi tope tupak khanjare aabadaar |117|
In opposition to the ones who were standing there fully armed.(117)
ਬਪੇਸ਼ੇ ਸ਼ਫ਼ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਦਰਯਾ ਅਮੀਕ ॥
bapeshe shaf aamad chu darayaa ameek |
Like a wave from deep sea marched them,
ਜ਼ਿ ਸਰਤਾ ਕਦਮ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਆਹਨ ਗ਼ਰੀਕ ॥੧੧੮॥
zi sarataa kadam ham chu aahan gareek |118|
Who were shielded by the steel armour from head to feet.(118)
ਬ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਤੋਪੋ ਤਮਾਚਹ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥
b aavaaz topo tamaachah tufang |
The uproars from guns, pistols and cannons overpowered,
ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ਗ਼ਸ਼ਤ ਹਮ ਚੂੰ ਗੁਲੇ ਲਾਲਹ ਰੰਗ ॥੧੧੯॥
zimee gashat ham choon gule laalah rang |119|
And earth became reddish like crimson flowers.(119)
ਬਮੈਦਾ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਕਿ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ॥
bamaidaa daraamad ki dukhatar vazeer |
She, herself, came into the fighting fields,
ਬ ਯਕ ਦਸਤ ਚੀਨੀ ਕਮਾ ਦਸਤ ਤੀਰ ॥੧੨੦॥
b yak dasat cheenee kamaa dasat teer |120|
With a Chinese bow in one hand and the arrows in the other.(120)
ਬ ਹਰਜਾ ਕਿ ਪਰਰਾ ਸ਼ਵਦ ਤੀਰ ਦਸਤ ॥
b harajaa ki pararaa shavad teer dasat |
Whenever she hurtled them through her hands,
ਬ ਸਦ ਪਹਿਲੂਏ ਪੀਲ ਮਰਦਾ ਗੁਜ਼ਸ਼ਤ ॥੧੨੧॥
b sad pahilooe peel maradaa guzashat |121|
The arrows pierced through the ribs of men and the elephants.(121)
ਚੁਨਾ ਮੌਜ਼ ਖ਼ੇਜ਼ਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਦਰੀਯਾਬ ਸੰਗ ॥
chunaa mauaz khezad zi dareeyaab sang |
The way the waves of the river struck the stones,
ਬਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਤੇਗ਼ੋ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥੧੨੨॥
barakhash andar aamad chu tego nihang |122|
The swords of the warriors were striking sparklingly.(122)
ਬ ਤਾਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਯਕੇ ਤਾਬ ਨਾਕ ॥
b taabash daraamad yake taab naak |
The brilliance of the shining (swords) was prevailing all over,
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਯਕੇ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਖ਼ਾਕ ॥੧੨੩॥
b rakhash andar aamad yake khoon khaak |123|
And in the shine, the blood and the soil were indistinguishable.(123)
ਬ ਤਾਮਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਹਮਹ ਹਿੰਦ ਤੇਗ਼ ॥
b taamash daraamad hamah hind teg |
The swords of Hindustan glittered,
ਬ ਗੁਰਰੀਦ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਚੁ ਦਰੀਯਾਇ ਮੇਗ਼ ॥੧੨੪॥
b gurareed lashakar chu dareeyaae meg |124|
And roared like thronging clouds over the river in flood.(124)
ਬ ਚਰਖ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਬ ਚੀਨੀ ਕਮਾ ॥
b charakh andar aamad b cheenee kamaa |
Chinese bows radiated,
ਬ ਤਾਬ ਆਮਦਸ਼ ਤੇਗ਼ ਹਿੰਦੋਸਤਾ ॥੧੨੫॥
b taab aamadash teg hindosataa |125|
And the Hindustani swords glittered.(125)
ਗਰੇਵਹ ਬਬਾਵੁਰਦ ਚੰਦੀ ਕਰੋਹ ॥
garevah babaavurad chandee karoh |
The noises, which were overwhelming for many miles,
ਬ ਲਰਜ਼ੀਦ ਦਰਯਾਬ ਦਰਰੀਦ ਕੋਹ ॥੧੨੬॥
b larazeed darayaab darareed koh |126|
Made the rivers desperate and severed the mountains.(126)
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਨੋ ਜ਼ਮਾ ॥
b rakhash andar aamad zimeeno zamaa |
But when the swords of Yaman kindled,
ਬ ਤਾਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਤੇਗ਼ੇ ਯਮਾ ॥੧੨੭॥
b taabash daraamad chu tege yamaa |127|
Both the sky and the earth kindled too.(127)
ਬ ਤੇਜ਼ ਆਮਦੋ ਨੇਜ਼ਹੇ ਬਾਸਤੀਂ ॥
b tez aamado nezahe baasateen |
When a bamboo spear appeared coming fast,
ਬ ਜੁੰਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਤਨੇ ਨਾਜ਼ਨੀਂ ॥੧੨੮॥
b junbash daraamad tane naazaneen |128|
And the delicate lady flew in rage.(128)
ਬ ਸ਼ੋਰਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਨਫ਼ਰ ਹਾਇ ਕੁਹਿਰ ॥
b shorash daraamad nafar haae kuhir |
The people raised a hue and cry,
ਜ਼ਿ ਤੋਪੋ ਵ ਨੇਜ਼ਹ ਬਪੋਸ਼ੀਦ ਦਹਿਰ ॥੧੨੯॥
zi topo v nezah baposheed dahir |129|
And the earth shook with the roar of guns.(129)
ਬ ਜੁੰਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਕਮਾਨੋ ਕਮੰਦ ॥
b junbash daraamad kamaano kamand |
The bows and the slingshots came into action fiercely,
ਦਰਖ਼ਸ਼ਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਤੇਗ਼ ਸੀਮਾਬ ਤੁੰਦ ॥੧੩੦॥
darakhashaa shudah teg seemaab tund |130|
And the Hindustani swords, shining like the mercury, commenced to penetrate.(130)
ਬ ਜੋਸ਼ ਆਮਦਹ ਖ਼ੰਜਰੇ ਖ਼੍ਵਾਰ ਖ਼ੂੰ ॥
b josh aamadah khanjare khvaar khoon |
The blood sucking daggers appeared,
ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਨੇਜ਼ਹ ਮਾਰਸ਼ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਬਰੂੰ ॥੧੩੧॥
zubaa nezah maarash baraamad baroon |131|
And the lances, as sharp as snakes’ tongues, came into action.(131)
ਬ ਤਾਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਲਕੋ ਤਾਬ ਨਾਕ ॥
b taabash daraamad lako taab naak |
The shinning arms were gleaming,
ਯਕੇ ਸੁਰਖ਼ ਗੋਗਿਰਦ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਖੂੰਨ ਖ਼ਾਕ ॥੧੩੨॥
yake surakh gogirad shud khoon khaak |132|
And earth was getting darker like the sulphur.(132)
ਦਿਹਾ ਦਿਹ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥
dihaa dih daraamad zi teero tufang |
Guns and the bows roared, and roared again,
ਹਯਾਹਯ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਨਿਹੰਗੋ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥੧੩੩॥
hayaahay daraamad nihango nihang |133|
And the soldiers as huge as the crocodiles started to cry.(133)
ਚਕਾਚਾਕ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਤੀਰੋ ਕਮਾ ॥
chakaachaak barakhaasat teero kamaa |
The spontaneous sprinkle of showers from bows,
ਬਰਾਮਦ ਯਕੇ ਰੁਸਤ ਖ਼ੇਜ਼ ਅਜ਼ ਜਹਾ ॥੧੩੪॥
baraamad yake rusat khez az jahaa |134|
Seemed as if the dooms day had come.(134)
ਨ ਪੋਯਿੰਦਰ ਰਾ ਬਰ ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ਬੂਦ ਜਾ ॥
n poyindar raa bar zimee bood jaa |
Neither the foot soldiers had a place on earth,
ਨ ਪਰਿੰਦਹ ਰਾ ਦਰ ਹਵਾ ਬੂਦ ਰਾਹ ॥੧੩੫॥
n parindah raa dar havaa bood raah |135|
Nor the birds could find their ways through the air.(135)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੇਗ਼ ਬਾਰੀਦ ਮਿਯਾਨੇ ਮੁਸਾਫ਼ ॥
chunaa teg baareed miyaane musaaf |
The swords showed their feats in such intensity,
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਕੁਸ਼ਤਗਾ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ਕੋਹਕਾਫ਼ ॥੧੩੬॥
ki az kushatagaa shud zimee kohakaaf |136|
That the dead bodies formed the mountains.(136)
ਕਿ ਪਾਓ ਸਰ ਅੰਬੋਹ ਚੰਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ॥
ki paao sar anboh chandaa shudah |
The heaps of heads and feet were all over,
ਕਿ ਮੈਦਾ ਪੁਰ ਅਜ਼ ਗੋਇ ਚੌਗਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ॥੧੩੭॥
ki maidaa pur az goe chauagaa shudah |137|
And the whole field looked like golf course with heads rolling as balls.(137)
ਰਵਾ ਰਉ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥
ravaa rau daraamad b teero tufang |
The intensity of the arrows was so great;
ਕਿ ਪਾਰਹ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਖ਼ੋਦ ਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਾਨ ਜੰਗ ॥੧੩੮॥
ki paarah shudah khod khufataan jang |138|
That the armours and the hardtops were shattered.(138)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੇਗ਼ ਤਾਬਸ਼ ਤ ਪੀਦ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਬ ॥
chunaa teg taabash ta peed aafataab |
The swords were becoming as hot as the sun,
ਦਰਖ਼ਤਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਕ ਵ ਦਰਯਾਇ ਆਬ ॥੧੩੯॥
darakhataa shudah khushak v darayaae aab |139|
And the trees were getting thirsty and river-water was drying.(139)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੀਰ ਬਾਰਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਬਰਕੁ ॥
chunaa teer baaraa shudah ham chu barak |
The showers of the arrows were so great,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਫ਼ੀਲ ਚੂੰ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਫ਼ਰਕ ॥੧੪੦॥
biafataad shud feel choon farak farak |140|
That only the necks of the elephants were visible.(140)
ਬ ਹਰਬ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਵਜ਼ੀਰੇ ਚੁ ਬਾਦ ॥
b harab andar aamad vazeere chu baad |
Instantly a Minister entered the field,
ਯਕੇ ਤੇਗ਼ ਮਾਯੰਦਰਾਨੀ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਦ ॥੧੪੧॥
yake teg maayandaraanee kushaad |141|
And he drew the sword of Mayindra.(141)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਤਰਫ਼ ਆਮਦ ਬ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਅਜ਼ਾ ॥
digar taraf aamad b dukhatar azaa |
From the other side the daughter came.
ਬਰਹਿਨੇ ਯਕੇ ਤੇਗ਼ ਹਿੰਦੋਸਤਾ ॥੧੪੨॥

She was holding a naked sword of Hindustan.(142)
ਦਰਖ਼ਸ਼ਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਆਂ ਚੁਨਾ ਤੇਗ਼ ਤੇਜ਼ ॥
darakhashaa shudah aan chunaa teg tez |
The lightening swords became even swifter,
ਅਦੂਰਾ ਅਜ਼ੋ ਦਿਲ ਸ਼ਵਦ ਰੇਜ਼ ਰੇਜ਼ ॥੧੪੩॥
adooraa azo dil shavad rez rez |143|
And they tore off the enemy-hearts into pieces.(143)
ਯਕੇ ਤੇਗ਼ ਜ਼ਦ ਬਰ ਸਰੇ ਓ ਸਮੰਦ ॥
yake teg zad bar sare o samand |
She hit the enemy head with such vitality,
ਜ਼ਿਮੀਨਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਕੋਹੇ ਬਿਲੰਦ ॥੧੪੪॥
zimeenash daraamad chu kohe biland |144|
That he was raised to ground like a crumbling mountain.(144)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਤੇਗ਼ ਓ ਰਾ ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਕਰਦ ਨੀਮ ॥
digar teg o raa bizad karad neem |
The second one was cut with sword into two,
ਬਿ ਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਬੂਮਸ ਚੁ ਕਰਖੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥੧੪੫॥
bi afataad boomas chu karakhe azeem |145|
And he fell flat like a wrecked mansion.(145)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਮਰਦ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਪ੍ਰਰਾ ਉਕਾਬ ॥
digar marad aamad chu praraa ukaab |
Another intrepid person flew in like a hawk,
ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਤੇਗ਼ ਓ ਰਾ ਬ ਕਰਦਸ਼ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ॥੧੪੬॥
bizad teg o raa b karadash kharaab |146|
But he was, too, exterminated.(146)
ਚੁ ਕਾਰੇ ਵਜ਼ੀਰਸ਼ ਬਰਾਹਤ ਰਸੀਦ ॥
chu kaare vazeerash baraahat raseed |
As soon this task was finished,
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਮਿਹਨਤੇ ਸਿਯਮ ਆਮਦ ਪਦੀਦ ॥੧੪੭॥
digar mihanate siyam aamad padeed |147|
And the relief was felt, third discordant surfaced,(147)
ਸਿਯਮ ਦੇਵ ਆਮਦ ਬਗਲ ਤੀਦ ਖ਼ੂੰ ॥
siyam dev aamad bagal teed khoon |
Another devil-like, drenched in blood, appeared,
ਜ਼ਿ ਦਹਲੀਜ਼ ਦੋਜ਼ਖ਼ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਬਰੂੰ ॥੧੪੮॥
zi dahaleez dozakh baraamad baroon |148|
As if it had come straight from the hell.(148)
ਬ ਕੁਸ਼ਤੰਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਦੁ ਕਰਦੰਦ ਤਨ ॥
b kushatand o raa du karadand tan |
But he was cut into two as well and slaughtered,
ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਯਿਆਂ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਗੋਰੇ ਕੁਹਨ ॥੧੪੯॥
chu shere yiaan ham chu gore kuhan |149|
Like a lion slays an old antelope.(149)
ਚਹਾਰਮ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਸ਼ੇਰਾ ਬਜੰਗ ॥
chahaaram daraamad chu sheraa bajang |
The fourth valiant person entered the fight,
ਚੁ ਬਰ ਬਚਹੇ ਗੋਰ ਗ਼ਰਰਾ ਪਿਲੰਗ ॥੧੫੦॥
chu bar bachahe gor gararaa pilang |150|
Like a lion pounces upon a stag.(150)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੇਗ਼ ਬਰ ਵੈ ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਨਾਜ਼ਨੀਂ ॥
chunaa teg bar vai bizad naazaneen |
It was hit with such a force,
ਕਿ ਅਜ਼ ਪੁਸ਼ਤ ਅਸਪਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ॥੧੫੧॥
ki az pushat asapash daraamad zimeen |151|
That it fell flat like a rider from the horse.(151)
ਕਿ ਪੰਚਮ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁ ਦੇਵੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥
ki pancham daraamad chu deve azeem |
When the fifth devil came,
ਯਕੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮ ਜ਼ਦ ਕਰਦ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਰੀਮ ॥੧੫੨॥
yake zakham zad karad hukame kareem |152|
She begged for the God’s blessings,(152)
ਚੁਨਾ ਤੇਗ਼ ਬਰ ਵੈ ਜ਼ਦਾ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਰੰਗ ॥
chunaa teg bar vai zadaa khoob rang |
And hit him with such great intensity,
ਜ਼ਿ ਸਰ ਤਾ ਕਦਮ ਆਮਦਹ ਜ਼ੇਰ ਤੰਗ ॥੧੫੩॥
zi sar taa kadam aamadah zer tang |153|
That his head was trodden under the hooves of the horse.(153)
ਸ਼ਸ਼ਮ ਦੇਵ ਆਮਦ ਚੁ ਅਫ਼ਰੀਤ ਮਸਤ ॥
shasham dev aamad chu afareet masat |
Revelling like a stupefied demon, the sixth devil came,
ਜ਼ਿ ਤੀਰੇ ਕਮਾ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਕਬਜ਼ਹ ਗੁਜ਼ਸ਼ਤ ॥੧੫੪॥
zi teere kamaa ham chu kabazah guzashat |154|
As fast as an arrow shot out of the bow,(154)
ਬਿਜ਼ਦ ਤੇਗ਼ ਓ ਰਾ ਕਿ ਓ ਨੀਮ ਸ਼ੁਦ ॥
bizad teg o raa ki o neem shud |
But it was hit so rapidly that he was cut into two,
ਕਿ ਦੀਗਰ ਯਲਾ ਰਾ ਅਜ਼ੋ ਬੀਮ ਸ਼ੁਦ ॥੧੫੫॥
ki deegar yalaa raa azo beem shud |155|
And that caused the others to dread.(155)
ਚੁਨੀ ਤਾ ਬਮਿਕਦਾਰ ਹਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਮਰਦ ॥
chunee taa bamikadaar hafataad marad |
This way about seventy such braves were annihilated,
ਬ ਤੇਗ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਵੇਖ਼ਤ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਅਜ਼ ਨ ਬਰਦ ॥੧੫੬॥
b teg andar aavekhat khaas az na barad |156|
And hung over the tips of the swords,(156)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰ ਕਸ ਨਿਆਮਦ ਤਮੰਨਾਇ ਜੰਗ ॥
digar kas niaamad tamanaae jang |
None other could dare to think of fight,
ਕਿ ਬੇਰੂੰ ਨਿਯਾਮਦ ਦਿਲਾਵਰ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥੧੫੭॥
ki beroon niyaamad dilaavar nihang |157|
Even the prominent warriors did not dare to come out.(157)
ਬ ਹਰਬ ਆਮਦਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮਾਯੰਦਰਾ ॥
b harab aamadash shaah maayandaraa |
When the king, Mayindra, himself came into the fight,
ਬ ਤਾਬਸ਼ ਤਪੀਦਨ ਦਿਲੇ ਮਰਦਮਾ ॥੧੫੮॥
b taabash tapeedan dile maradamaa |158|
All the fighters rolled into wrath.(158)
ਚੁ ਅਬਰਸ ਬ ਅੰਦਾਖ਼ਤ ਦਉਰੇ ਯਲਾ ॥
chu abaras b andaakhat daure yalaa |
And when the combatants jumped around,
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਜ਼ਿਹੇ ਆਸਮਾ ॥੧੫੯॥
b rakhash andar aamad zihe aasamaa |159|
Both the earth and the heavens swayed.(159)
ਬ ਤਾਬਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਨੋ ਜ਼ਮਨ ॥
b taabash daraamad zimeeno zaman |
The lightening captured the universe,
ਦਰਖ਼ਸ਼ਾ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਤੇਗ਼ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਯਮਨ ॥੧੬੦॥
darakhashaa shudah teg hindee yaman |160|
Like lustre of the swords of Yaman.(160)
ਚਲਾਚਲ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਕਮਾਨੋ ਕਮੰਦ ॥
chalaachal daraamad kamaano kamand |
The bows and slingshots were brought in action,
ਹਯਾਹਯ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਬ ਗੁਰਜੋ ਗਜ਼ੰਦ ॥੧੬੧॥
hayaahay daraamad b gurajo gazand |161|
And the ones beaten with maces raised hue and cries.(161)
ਚਕਾਚਾਕ ਬਰਖ਼ਾਸਤ ਤੀਰੋ ਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ ॥
chakaachaak barakhaasat teero tufang |
Arrows and the gunshots prevailed,
ਜ਼ਿਮੀ ਲਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਚੂੰ ਗੁਲੇ ਲਾਲਹ ਰੰਗ ॥੧੬੨॥
zimee laal shud choon gule laalah rang |162|
And the earth turned into red-flowery colour all around.(162)
ਹਹਾਹੂ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਚੁਪਹ ਨੰਦ ਰੂੰ ॥
hahaahoo daraamad chupah nand roon |
When the blood-sucking daggers struck out,
ਦਿਹਾ ਦਿਹ ਸ਼ੁਦਹ ਖ਼ੰਜਰੇ ਖ਼ਾਰ ਖੂੰ ॥੧੬੩॥
dihaa dih shudah khanjare khaar khoon |163|
The shrieks flowed from the war-zones.(163)
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਯਕੇ ਤਾਬ ਰੰਗ ॥
b rakhash andar aamad yake taab rang |
When two of the steadfast warriors on the horsebacks entered the fighting,
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਦੁ ਚਾਲਾਕ ਜੰਗ ॥੧੬੪॥
b rakhash andar aamad du chaalaak jang |164|
There was lighting all around.(164)
ਬ ਸ਼ੋਰਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਸਰਾਫ਼ੀਲ ਸੂਰ ॥
b shorash daraamad saraafeel soor |
The way a Sraphil Angel appears and it becomes boisterous all over,
ਬ ਰਖ਼ਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਮਦ ਤਨੇ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਹੂਰ ॥੧੬੫॥
b rakhash andar aamad tane khaas hoor |165|
(Same way) the enemy was confused and disrupted.(165)
ਬ ਸ਼ੋਰਸ਼ ਦਰਾਮਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਤਨ ਦਰ ਖ਼ਰੋਸ਼ ॥
b shorash daraamad zi tan dar kharosh |
When it was raucous all around,
ਬ ਬਾਜੂਇ ਮਰਦਾ ਬਰਾਵੁਰਦ ਜੋਸ਼ ॥੧੬੬॥
b baajooe maradaa baraavurad josh |166|
The soldiers’ arms flickered in anger.(166)
ਯਕੇ ਫ਼ਰਸ਼ ਆਰਾਸਤ ਸੁਰਖ਼ ਅਤਲਸੇ ॥
yake farash aaraasat surakh atalase |
The shinning ground turned and looked as if painted in red,
ਬੁ ਖ਼ਾਨਦ ਚੁ ਮਕਤਬ ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਪਹਿਲੂਏ ॥੧੬੭॥
bu khaanad chu makatab zubaa pahilooe |167|
The floor of a school with children reading sitting on top.(167)
ਬ ਮਰਦਮ ਚੁਨਾ ਕੁਸ਼ਤ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਕਾਰਜ਼ਾਰ ॥
b maradam chunaa kushat shud kaarazaar |
Such a great number were killed,
ਜ਼ੁਬਾ ਦਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਮ ਨਿਯਾਯਦ ਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ॥੧੬੮॥
zubaa dar guzaaram niyaayad shumaar |168|
That they could not be enumerated.(168)
ਗੁਰੇਜ਼ਾ ਸ਼ਵਦ ਸ਼ਾਹਿ ਮਾਯੰਦਰਾ ॥
gurezaa shavad shaeh maayandaraa |
The king of Mayindra ran away,
ਬ ਕੁਸ਼ਤੰਦ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਗਿਰਾ ਤਾ ਗਿਰਾ ॥੧੬੯॥
b kushatand lashakar giraa taa giraa |169|
As most of his army was decimated.(169)
ਕਿ ਪੁਸ਼ਤਸ਼ ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਦੁਖ਼ਤਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ॥
ki pushatash biafataad dukhatar vazeer |
The Minister’s daughter pursued him,
ਬਿ ਬਸਤੰਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਕਿ ਕਰਦੰਦ ਅਸੀਰ ॥੧੭੦॥
bi basatand o raa ki karadand aseer |170|
Caught him, tied him and made him prisoner.(170)
ਬ ਨਿਜ਼ਦੇ ਬਿਯਾਵੁਰਦ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼ ॥
b nizade biyaavurad jo shaah khesh |
She brought the King (Mayindra) to the ruler,
ਬਿ ਗੁਫ਼ਤਹ ਕਿ ਏ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਨ ਵੇਸ਼ ॥੧੭੧॥
bi gufateh ki e shaah shaahaan vesh |171|
And said, ‘Oh, you the king of kings,(171)
ਬਿਗੋਯਦ ਕਿ ਈਂ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮਾਯੰਦਰਾ ॥
bigoyad ki een shaah maayandaraa |
‘He is the King of Mayindra,
ਬਿ ਬਸਤਹ ਬਿਯਾਵੁਰਦ ਨਿਜ਼ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਮਾ ॥੧੭੨॥
bi basatah biyaavurad nizade shumaa |172|
‘Whom I have brought to you tied up.(172)
ਅਗ਼ਰ ਤੋ ਬਿਗੋਈ ਬ ਜ਼ਾ ਈਂ ਬੁਰਮ ॥
agar to bigoee b zaa een buram |
‘If you order, I would kill him,
ਵਗ਼ਰ ਤੋ ਬਿਗੋਈ ਬਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਦਿਹਮ ॥੧੭੩॥
vagar to bigoee bazindaa diham |173|
‘Or I would imprison him under lock and key.’(173)
ਬਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਸਪੁਰਦੰਦ ਓ ਰਾ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ॥
bazindaa sapuradand o raa azeem |
He was despatched to the big prison,
ਸਿਤਾਨਦ ਅਜ਼ੋ ਤਾਜ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਕਲੀਮ ॥੧੭੪॥
sitaanad azo taaj shaahee kaleem |174|
And his canopy of the authority of ruling was snatched away.(174)
ਸ਼ਹਿਨਸ਼ਾਹਗੀ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ ਹੁਕਮੋ ਰਜ਼ਾਕ ॥
shahinashaahagee yaafat hukamo razaak |
With the benevolence of the Provider, she attained the monarchy,
ਕਸੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਾ ਰਾ ਕੁਨਦ ਚਾਕ ਚਾਕ ॥੧੭੫॥
kase dushamanaa raa kunad chaak chaak |175|
After tearing off so many other sovereigns.(175)
ਚੁਨਾ ਕਰਦ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਕਸਦ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਸੇ ॥
chunaa karad shud kasad mihanat kase |
Whosoever performs the deeds with such zeal,
ਕਿ ਰਹਮਤ ਬਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦ ਜੋ ਰਹਮਤੇ ॥੧੭੬॥
ki rahamat babakhasheed jo rahamate |176|
He is bestowed with His beneficence.(176)
ਕਿ ਓ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਾਨੂ ਸ਼ੁਦੋ ਮੁਲਕ ਸ਼ਾਹ ॥
ki o shaah baanoo shudo mulak shaah |
The princess became the consort of the ruler,
ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਹਮੀ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਇਲਾਹ ॥੧੭੭॥
ki shaahee hamee yaafat hukame ilaah |177|
As she attained the kingdom with godly compassion.(177)
ਬਿਦਿਹ ਸਾਕੀਯਾ ਸਾਗ਼ਰੇ ਸਬਜ਼ ਆਬ ॥
bidih saakeeyaa saagare sabaz aab |
(The Poet says), ‘Oh, Saki, give me the cup full of green liquid,
ਕਿ ਬੇਰੂੰ ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦ ਪਰਦਹ ਨਕਾਬ ॥੧੭੮॥
ki beroon biafataad paradah nakaab |178|
‘So that I may keep the secret enshroud.(178)
ਬਿਦਿਹ ਸਾਕੀਯਾ ਸਬਜ਼ ਰੰਗੇ ਫ਼ਿਰੰਗ ॥
bidih saakeeyaa sabaz range firang |
‘Oh Saki! Give me the greenish wine of Europe,
ਕਿ ਵਕਤੇ ਬ ਕਾਰ ਅਸਤ ਅਜ਼ ਰੋਜ਼ ਜੰਗ ॥੧੭੯॥੧੦॥
ki vakate b kaar asat az roz jang |179|10|
