ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Soohee, Fourth Mehl:

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਰਵੈ ਸੋ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥

jis no har suprasan hoe so har gunaa ravai so bhagat so paravaan |

That mortal, with whom the Lord is pleased, repeats the Glorious Praises of the Lord; he alone is a devotee, and he alone is approved.

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਿਆ ਵਰਨੀਐ ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੧॥

tis kee mahimaa kiaa varaneeai jis kai hiradai vasiaa har purakh bhagavaan |1|

How can his glory be described? Within his heart, the Primal Lord, the Lord God, abides. ||1||

ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ਜੀਉ ਲਾਇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

govind gun gaaeeai jeeo laae satiguroo naal dhiaan |1| rahaau |

Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe; focus your meditation on the True Guru. ||1||Pause||

ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥

so satiguroo saa sevaa satigur kee safal hai jis te paaeeai param nidhaan |

He is the True Guru - service to the True Guru is fruitful and rewarding. By this service, the greatest treasure is obtained.

ਜੋ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਸਾਕਤ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਅਰਥਿ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਸਰੇਵਦੇ ਸੋ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸਭੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੨॥

jo doojai bhaae saakat kaamanaa arath duragandh sarevade so nihafal sabh agiaan |2|

The faithless cynics in their love of duality and sensual desires, harbor foul-smelling urges. They are totally useless and ignorant. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗਾਵਿਆ ਥਾਇ ਪਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਵੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

jis no parateet hovai tis kaa gaaviaa thaae pavai so paavai daragah maan |

One who has faith - his singing is approved. He is honored in the Court of the Lord.

ਜੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਰਤੀਤੀ ਕਪਟੀ ਕੂੜੀ ਕੂੜੀ ਅਖੀ ਮੀਟਦੇ ਉਨ ਕਾ ਉਤਰਿ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਝੂਠੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥

jo bin parateetee kapattee koorree koorree akhee meettade un kaa utar jaaeigaa jhootth gumaan |3|

Those who lack faith may close their eyes, hypocritically pretending and faking devotion, but their false pretenses shall soon wear off. ||3||

ਜੇਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥

jetaa jeeo pindd sabh teraa toon antarajaamee purakh bhagavaan |

My soul and body are totally Yours, Lord; You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, my Primal Lord God.

ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਾਇਹਿ ਤੇਹਾ ਹਉ ਕਰੀ ਵਖਿਆਨੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੧॥

daasan daas kahai jan naanak jehaa toon karaaeihi tehaa hau karee vakhiaan |4|4|11|

So speaks servant Nanak, the slave of Your slaves; as You make me speak, so do I speak. ||4||4||11||
