ਜੈਸਕ ਰਹਤ ਕਮਲ ਜਲ ਭੀਤਰ ॥

jaisak rehat kamal jal bheetar |

ਪੁਨਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਸੀ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਕੇ ਘਰਿ ॥

pun nrip basee jalandhar ke ghar |

Just as the lotus-leaf in water remains unaffected by the drops of water, in the same manner, Varinda lived in the house of Jalandhar as his wife.

ਤਿਹ ਨਿਮਿਤ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ ॥

tih nimit jalandhar avataaraa |

ਧਰ ਹੈ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਮੁਰਾਰਾ ॥੧੧॥

dhar hai roop anoop muraaraa |11|

And for her Vishnu manifested himself as Jalandhar and in this way, Vishnu assumed a unique form.11.

ਕਥਾ ਐਸ ਇਹ ਦਿਸ ਮੋ ਭਈ ॥

kathaa ais ih dis mo bhee |

ਅਬ ਚਲਿ ਬਾਤ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਪਰ ਗਈ ॥

ab chal baat rudr par gee |

In this way, the story heath taken a new turn and now it hath halted on Rudra.

ਮਾਗੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਨ ਦੀਨੀ ਰੁਦ੍ਰਾ ॥

maagee naar na deenee rudraa |

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕੋਪ ਅਸੁਰ ਪਤਿ ਛੁਦ੍ਰਾ ॥੧੨॥

taa te kop asur pat chhudraa |12|

The demon Jalandhar asked for his wife from Ruda and Rudra did not oblige him, therefore the king of demons flew into rage instantly.12.

ਬਜੇ ਢੋਲ ਨਫੀਰਿ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥

baje dtol nafeer nagaare |

ਦੁਹੂੰ ਦਿਸਾ ਡਮਰੂ ਡਮਕਾਰੇ ॥

duhoon disaa ddamaroo ddamakaare |

The trumpets and drums resounded on all the four sides and the knocking sound of tabors was heard from all the four directions.

ਮਾਚਤ ਭਯੋ ਲੋਹ ਬਿਕਰਾਰਾ ॥

maachat bhayo loh bikaraaraa |

ਝਮਕਤ ਖਗ ਅਦਗ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥੧੩॥

jhamakat khag adag apaaraa |13|

The steel collided with the steel dreadfully and the daggers glittered with infinite beauty.13.

ਗਿਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰਤ ਸੁਭਟ ਰਣ ਮਾਹੀ ॥

gir gir parat subhatt ran maahee |

ਧੁਕ ਧੁਕ ਉਠਤ ਮਸਾਣ ਤਹਾਹੀ ॥

dhuk dhuk utthat masaan tahaahee |

The warriors began to fall in the battlefield and the ghosts and fiends began to run on all the four sides.

ਗਜੀ ਰਥੀ ਬਾਜੀ ਪੈਦਲ ਰਣਿ ॥

gajee rathee baajee paidal ran |

ਜੂਝਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਰਣ ਕੀ ਛਿਤਿ ਅਨਗਣ ॥੧੪॥

joojh gire ran kee chhit anagan |14|

The innumerable riders of elephants, chariots and horses began to fall as martyrs in the battlefield.14.
