ਸਿਰ ਤਲਵਾਇਆ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਹੋਇ ਸਹਸ ਫਲ ਸੁਫਲ ਫਲੰਦਾ ।

sir talavaaeaa birakh hai hoe sehas fal sufal falandaa |

The head (root) of the tree remains downwards and there for it is laden with flowers and fruit.

ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ਸਿਰੁ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਨੀਵਾਣਿ ਚਲੰਦਾ ।

niramal neer vakhaaneeai sir neevaan neevaan chalandaa |

The water is known as pure because it flows downward.

ਸਿਰੁ ਉਚਾ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਚਰਣ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਸੀਸੁ ਪਵੰਦਾ ।

sir uchaa neeven charan guramukh pairee sees pavandaa |

The head is higher and the feet lower but even then the head bows on the feet of the gurmukh.

ਸਭ ਦੂ ਨੀਵੀ ਧਰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਸੈ ਸਾਰੁ ਸਹੰਦਾ ।

sabh doo neevee dharat hoe an dhan sabh sai saar sahandaa |

The lowest is the earth which bears the burden of the whole world and of the wealth in it.

ਧੰਨੁ ਧਰਤੀ ਓਹੁ ਥਾਉ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਸਾਧੂ ਪੈਰੁ ਧਰੰਦਾ ।

dhan dharatee ohu thaau dhan gur sikh saadhoo pair dharandaa |

That land and that place is blest where the Guru, the Sikh and ..he holymen put their feet.

ਚਰਣ ਧੂੜਿ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਵੇਦ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਿ ਸੁਣੰਦਾ ।

charan dhoorr paradhaan kar sant ved jas gaav sunandaa |

That the dust of the feet of the saints is the highest is told even by the Vedas.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾ ਖਾਕ ਲਹੰਦਾ ।੧੫।

vaddabhaagee paa khaak lahandaa |15|

Any fortunate one attains the dust of the feet.
