ਇਕ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਟਕਤ ਭਯੋ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਤਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਅੰਗ ॥

eik raajaa attakat bhayo nirakh taran ke ang |

Impressed by her figurative beauty, a Raja was pervaded with lust.

ਰਤਿ ਮਾਨੀ ਰੁਚਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਅਤਿ ਹਿਤ ਚਿਤ ਕੈ ਸੰਗ ॥੩॥

With determination, he presented his proposal to make love to her.(3)

ਸੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪਰ ਅਟਕਤ ਭਈ ਨਿਤਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਲੇਤ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥

so nrip par attakat bhee nit grih let bulaae |

She fell in love with the Raja too and through her maid,

ਚਿਤ੍ਰਕਲਾ ਇਕ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਤਾਹਿ ਪਠਾਇ ॥੪॥

Chitarkala, called the Raja to her house.(4)

ਚਿਤ੍ਰਕਲਾ ਜੋ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਸੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ॥

chitrakalaa jo sahacharee so nrip roop nihaar |

On the sight of the Raja, Chitarkala herself fell flat on the ground

ਗਿਰੀ ਮੂਰਛਨਾ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਧਰਨਿ ਹਰ ਅਰਿ ਸਰ ਗਯੋ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੫॥

giree moorachhanaa hvai dharan har ar sar gayo maar |5|

Cupid, the adversary of Shiva, had pierced her with his arrow of love.(5)
