ਇਹ ਕਵਨ ਕੀਟ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ।

eih kavan keett guradaas bichaaraa |

Who is this Gurdas, The poor creature?

ਜੋ ਅਗਮ ਨਿਗਮ ਕੀ ਲਖੈ ਸੁਮਾਰਾ ।

jo agam nigam kee lakhai sumaaraa |

He narrates about the inaccessible body-corporate.

ਜਬ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ।

jab kar kirapaa gur boojh bujhaaee |

When he is bestowed with the understanding by the Guru,

ਤਬ ਇਹ ਕਥਾ ਉਚਾਰਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ।

tab ih kathaa uchaar sunaaee |

He expounds this anecdote.

ਜਿਹ ਬਿਨ ਹੁਕਮ ਇਕ ਝੁਲੈ ਨ ਪਾਤਾ ।

jih bin hukam ik jhulai na paataa |

Without His command, blows not a leaf,

ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੋਈ ਜੇ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ।

fun hoe soee je karai bidhaataa |

And happens whatever the Contriver wills.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਅਕਾਰੇ ।

hukamai andar sagal akaare |

At His Command is the entire universe.

ਬੁਝੈ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਪਾਰੇ ।

bujhai hukam su utarai paare |

The ones who comprehend the order, swim across.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਹੇਸਾ ।

hukamai andar braham mahesaa |

Under the Command exist all the gods, humans and animals.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸੁਰ ਨਰ ਸੇਸਾ ।

hukamai andar sur nar sesaa |

In the Command abide (the deities), Brahma and Mahesh.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਬਨਾਯੰ ।

hukamai andar bisan banaayan |

And Command creates the Vishnu.

ਜਿਨ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਾਇ ਦੀਵਾਨ ਲਗਾਯੰ ।

jin hukam paae deevaan lagaayan |

Under Command temporal courts are held.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਧਰਮ ਰਚਾਯੰ ।

hukamai andar dharam rachaayan |

The Command advances the religious consciousness.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਉਪਾਯੰ ।

hukamai andar indr upaayan |

With the Command, Indra, the king of gods, is enthroned.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਸਿ ਅਰੁ ਸੂਰੇ ।

hukamai andar sas ar soore |

The sun and moon survive with His Command.

ਸਭ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕੀ ਬਾਂਛਹਿ ਧੂਰੇ ।

sabh har charan kee baanchheh dhoore |

And aspire for the blessings of Har's feet.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਧਰਨਿ ਅਕਾਸਾ ।

hukamai andar dharan akaasaa |

In the Command continue the earth and the skies.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ।

hukamai andar saas giraasaa |

Birth and death come not without His Command.

ਜਿਹ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੋਈ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜੀਵੈ ।

jih binaa hukam koee marai na jeevai |

One who understands the Command achieves eternity.

ਬੂਝੈ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੋ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥੀਵੈ ।

boojhai hukam so nihachal theevai |

ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।

eiaun kar hai guradaas pukaaraa |

And thus exclaimed Gurdas;

ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।੨੭।

he satigur muhi lehu ubaaraa |27|

O my True Guru, you grant me redemption.
