ਛੋਰਿ ਪਿਟਾਰਿ ਪਕਵਾਨ ਖਵਾਯੋ ॥

chhor pittaar pakavaan khavaayo |

ਵਹ ਕਛੁ ਭੇਦ ਰਾਇ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥

veh kachh bhed raae neh paayo |

After opening the basket she served him viands but he could not comprehend the secret.

ਪੁਨਿ ਇਹ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ॥

pun ih kahiyo daan kar deejai |

ਮੇਰੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਾਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੧੪॥

mero kahiyo maan nrip leejai |14|

‘Now, my Raja, acquiescing to my request, you give out this with blessings.’(14)

ਜਬ ਪਿਟਾਰ ਤਿਹ ਛੋਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥

jab pittaar tih chhor dikhaayo |

ਅਤਿ ਡਰ ਜਾਮਾਤਾ ਮਨ ਆਯੋ ॥

at ddar jaamaataa man aayo |

When she opened the basket, the son-in-law was terrified,

ਅਬ ਹੀ ਮੋਕਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਨਿਕਰਿ ਹੈ ॥

ab hee mokah pakar nikar hai |

ਬਹੁਰੋ ਬਾਧਿ ਮਾਰਹੀ ਡਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥

bahuro baadh maarahee ddar hai |15|

‘Now they will take me out, tie me and kill me,(15)

ਹੌ ਇਹ ਠੌਰ ਆਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

hau ih tthauar aan triy maariyo |

ਅਬ ਉਪਾਇ ਕ︀ਯਾ ਕਰੋ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

ab upaae kayaa karo bichaariyo |

‘The woman has put me in dangerous dilemma, how can I remedy this?

ਕਾ ਸੌ ਕਹੌ ਸੰਗ ਕੋਊ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

kaa sau kahau sang koaoo naahee |

ਇਹ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੧੬॥

eih chintaa taa ke man maahee |16|

‘I have no one to help me,’ that apprehension captured his mind.(16)
