ਤਾ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜਬ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪਗ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

taa ke grih jab nrip pag dhaariyo |

ਬਿਖੁ ਦੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

bikh dai taeh maar hee ddaariyo |

When Raja put his foot inside the Rani’s place, she killed him with poison.

ਦੀਨ ਬਚਨ ਤਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥

deen bachan tab triyeh uchaare |

ਮੋਹਿ ਤ︀ਯਾਗ ਗੇ ਰਾਜ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੬॥

mohi tayaag ge raaj hamaare |6|

With great distress she declared, ‘My beloved Raja has abandoned me.(6)

ਮਰਤੀ ਬਾਰ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥

maratee baar nripat muhi kahiyo |

ਸੋ ਮੈ ਬਚਨ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਗਹਿਯੋ ॥

so mai bachan hridai drirr gahiyo |

‘What he told me at the time of his death, I am determined to do.

ਰਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਦੁਰਬਲ ਕੋ ਦੀਜੋ ॥

raaj saaj durabal ko deejo |

ਮੋਰੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਾਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਲੀਜੋ ॥੭॥

moro kahiyo maan triy leejo |7|

‘Raja had pronounced, “The Kingdom should be given to a pauper and it must be fulfilled.(7)
