ਦੇਵੀ ਮਾਰੇ ਦੈਤ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਨਿਬਲ ਸੇ ਕੀਨ ॥

devee maare dait bahu prabal nibal se keen |

The goddess killed many demons and made the strong ones weak.

ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਨ ਮੈ ਚਮੂੰ ਚਾਲ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨ ॥੩੭॥

sasatr dhaar kar karan mai chamoon chaal kar deen |37|

Holding the weapons in her hand, she made the forces of the enemy run away.37.

ਭਜੀ ਚਮੂੰ ਮਹਖਾਸੁਰੀ ਤਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਨਿਜ ਈਸ ॥

bhajee chamoon mahakhaasuree takee saran nij ees |

The army of Mahishasura ran away and sought the shelter of its king.

ਧਾਇ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਨ ਇਉ ਕਹਿਓ ਹਨਿਓ ਪਦਮ ਭਟ ਬੀਸ ॥੩੮॥

dhaae jaae tin iau kahio hanio padam bhatt bees |38|

It told him after running that twenty padam of the forces had been killd.38.

ਸੁਨਿ ਮਹਖਾਸੁਰ ਮੂੜ ਮਤਿ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਉਠਿਓ ਰਿਸਾਇ ॥

sun mahakhaasur moorr mat man mai utthio risaae |

Hearing this, the foolish Mahishasura was highly enraged.

ਆਗਿਆ ਦੀਨੀ ਸੈਨ ਕੋ ਘੇਰੋ ਦੇਵੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩੯॥

aagiaa deenee sain ko ghero devee jaae |39|

He ordered that the goddess be besiged.39.
