Pauree:

ਜਜਾ ਜਾਨੈ ਹਉ ਕਛੁ ਹੂਆ ॥

jajaa jaanai hau kachh hooaa |

JAJJA: When someone, in his ego, believes that he has become something,

ਬਾਧਿਓ ਜਿਉ ਨਲਿਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸੂਆ ॥

baadhio jiau nalinee bhram sooaa |

he is caught in his error, like a parrot in a trap.

ਜਉ ਜਾਨੈ ਹਉ ਭਗਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥

jau jaanai hau bhagat giaanee |

When he believes, in his ego, that he is a devotee and a spiritual teacher,

ਆਗੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨੀ ॥

aagai tthaakur til nahee maanee |

then, in the world hereafter, the Lord of the Universe shall have no regard for him at all.

ਜਉ ਜਾਨੈ ਮੈ ਕਥਨੀ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

jau jaanai mai kathanee karataa |

When he believes himself to be a preacher,

ਬਿਆਪਾਰੀ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਜਿਉ ਫਿਰਤਾ ॥

biaapaaree basudhaa jiau firataa |

he is merely a peddler wandering over the earth.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥

saadhasang jih haumai maaree |

But one who conquers his ego in the Company of the Holy,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੇ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੨੪॥

naanak taa kau mile muraaree |24|

O Nanak, meets the Lord. ||24||
