SWAYYA

ਸੂਰ ਕੋ ਦ੍ਵਾਦਸ ਬਾਨਨ ਬੇਧਿ ਕੈ ਅਉ ਸਸਿ ਕੋ ਦਸ ਬਾਨ ਲਗਾਏ ॥

soor ko dvaadas baanan bedh kai aau sas ko das baan lagaae |

ਔਰ ਸਚੀਪਤਿ ਕਉ ਸਰ ਸਉ ਸੁ ਲਗੇ ਤਨ ਭੇਦ ਕੈ ਪਾਰ ਪਰਾਏ ॥

aauar sacheepat kau sar sau su lage tan bhed kai paar paraae |

He discharged twelve arrows towards Surya and ten towards Chandrama, he discharged a hundred arrows towards Indra, which, piercing his body went to the other side

ਜਛ ਜਿਤੇ ਸੁਰ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਤੇ ਸਬ ਤੀਰਨ ਸੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਘਾਏ ॥

jachh jite sur kinar gandhrab te sab teeran so nrip ghaae |

All the yakshas, gods, kinners, gandharvas etc. who were there, the king knocked them down with his arrows

ਕੇਤਕ ਭਾਜਿ ਗਏ ਰਨ ਤੇ ਡਰਿ ਕੇਤਕਿ ਤਉ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਠਹਰਾਏ ॥੧੪੫੮॥

ketak bhaaj ge ran te ddar ketak tau ran mai tthaharaae |1458|

Many of the manifested gods ran away from battlefield, but there were many who stood there firmly.1458.

ਜੁਧੁ ਭਯੋ ਸੁ ਘਨੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤਬ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਰਿਸੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਗ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥

judh bhayo su ghano jab hee tab indr rise kar saag lee hai |

ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਬਲ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਭੂਪ ਕੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਡਾਰ ਦਈ ਹੈ ॥

sayaam bhanai bal ko kar kai tih bhoop kai aoopar ddaar dee hai |

When the war started intensively, being enraged Indra took the lance in his hand and discharged it towards the king (Kharag Singh) violently.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਖੜਗੇਸ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਸਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਈ ਉਪਮਾ ਸੁ ਭਈ ਹੈ ॥

sree kharrages saraasan lai sar kaatt dee upamaa su bhee hai |

ਬਾਨ ਭਯੋ ਖਗਰਾਜ ਮਨੋ ਬਰਛੀ ਜਨੋ ਨਾਗਨਿ ਭਛ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੫੯॥

baan bhayo khagaraaj mano barachhee jano naagan bhachh gee hai |1459|

Kharag Singh intercepted the spear with his arrow so accurately as if the garuda-like arrow of the king have swallowed the lance-like female serpent.1459.

ਪੀੜਤ ਕੈ ਸਬ ਬਾਨਨ ਸੋ ਪੁਨਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਆਦਿਕ ਬੀਰ ਭਜਾਏ ॥

Inflicted by the arrows Indra etc. ran away

ਸੂਰ ਸਸੀ ਰਨ ਤ︀ਯਾਗਿ ਭਜੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਢਾਏ ॥

soor sasee ran tayaag bhajai apane man mai at traas badtaae |

Surya, Chandra and other all abandoned the battlefield and were extremely frightened in their mind

ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ਘਾਇ ਘਨੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਭਜ ਗੇ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਠਹਰਾਏ ॥

khaae kai ghaae ghane tan mai bhaj ge sab hee na koaoo tthaharaae |

After having been wounded, many of them ran away and none of them stayed there

ਜਾਇ ਬਸੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਸੁਰ ਸੋਕ ਭਰੇ ਸਬ ਲਾਜ ਲਜਾਏ ॥੧੪੬੦॥

jaae base apune pur mai sur sok bhare sab laaj lajaae |1460|

All the gods getting ashamed went back to their abodes.1460.
