ਰੈਨ ਭਈ ਤਸਕਰ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

rain bhee tasakar utth dhaayo |

When the night approached, the thief got up and

ਸਕਲ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਕੋ ਭੇਸ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥

sakal svaan ko bhes banaayo |

Disguised himself as a dog.

ਸਾਹਿਜਹਾ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਪਗ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

saahijahaa ke grih pag dhaariyo |

He went to the house of Shah Jehan.

ਗਪੈ ਕਹਤ ਗਪਿਅਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧॥

gapai kehat gapieh nihaariyo |1|

He came across a talkative gossiper there.(1)

ਏਦਿਲ ਸਾਹ ਨਾਮ ਤਸਕਰ ਬਰ ॥

edil saah naam tasakar bar |

The name of the thief was Adal Shah.

ਆਯੋ ਸਾਹਿਜਹਾ ਜੂ ਕੇ ਘਰ ॥

aayo saahijahaa joo ke ghar |

He had come to the house of Shah Jehan.

ਰਾਜ ਮਤੀ ਨਾਰੀ ਹਿਤ ਗਯੋ ਤਹ ॥

raaj matee naaree hit gayo tah |

For sake of Raj Mati he reached there,

ਰਾਜਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਹ ॥੨॥

raajan ko raajaa sovat jah |2|

Where the Raja of the Rajas was slumbering.(2)
