ਜੂਝ ਪਰੀ ਸਭ ਸੈਨ ਲਖੀ ਜਬ ਤੌ ਮਹਖਾਸੁਰ ਖਗ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਓ ॥

joojh paree sabh sain lakhee jab tau mahakhaasur khag sanbhaario |

Knowing about the destruction of all his forces in the war, Mahishasura held up his sword.,

ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਕੇ ਸਾਮੁਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਭਇਆਨਕ ਭਾਲਕ ਜਿਉ ਭਭਕਾਰਿਓ ॥

chandd prachandd ke saamuhi jaae bheaanak bhaalak jiau bhabhakaario |

And going before the fierce Chandi, he began to roar like dreadful bear.,

ਮੁਗਦਰੁ ਲੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਚੰਡਿ ਸੁ ਕੈ ਬਰਿ ਤਾ ਤਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਓ ॥

mugadar lai apane kar chandd su kai bar taa tan aoopar ddaario |

Taking his heavy mace in his hand, he threw it on body of the goddess like an arrow.,

ਜਿਉ ਹਨੂਮਾਨ ਉਖਾਰਿ ਪਹਾਰ ਕੋ ਰਾਵਨ ਕੇ ਉਰ ਭੀਤਰ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥੪੬॥

jiau hanoomaan ukhaar pahaar ko raavan ke ur bheetar maario |46|

It seemed that Hanuman carrying a hillock, threw it on the chest of Ravvana.46.,

ਫੇਰ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਬੀਰ ਹਨੇ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਨਿ ਨ ਮੰਗੇ ॥

fer saraasan ko geh kai kar beer hane tin paan na mange |

Then he held up bows and arrows in his hand , killed the warriors, who could not ask for water before dying.,

ਘਾਇਲ ਘੂਮ ਪਰੇ ਰਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਕਰਾਹਤ ਹੈ ਗਿਰ ਸੇ ਗਜ ਲੰਗੇ ॥

ghaaeil ghoom pare ran maeh karaahat hai gir se gaj lange |

The wounded warriors were moving in the field like lame elephants.,

ਸੂਰਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਕਉਚਨ ਸਾਥਿ ਪਰੇ ਧਰਿ ਭਾਉ ਉਠੇ ਤਹ ਚੰਗੇ ॥

sooran ke tan kauchan saath pare dhar bhaau utthe teh change |

The bodies of the warriors were moving their armours were lying fried up on the ground.,

ਜਾਨੋ ਦਵਾ ਬਨ ਮਾਝ ਲਗੇ ਤਹ ਕੀਟਨ ਭਛ ਕੌ ਦਉਰੇ ਭੁਜੰਗੇ ॥੪੭॥

jaano davaa ban maajh lage teh keettan bhachh kau daure bhujange |47|

As if the forest is on fire and the snakes are running to reed themselves on the fast moving worms.47.,

ਕੋਪ ਭਰੀ ਰਨਿ ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਸੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਰ ਕੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਸੀ ਰਨ ਮੈ ॥

kop bharee ran chandd prachandd su prer ke singh dhasee ran mai |

Chandi in great ire penetrated into the war-arena with her lion.,

ਕਰਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਲਾਲ ਕੀਏ ਅਰਿ ਖੇਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਬੜਵਾਨਲ ਜਿਉ ਬਨ ਮੈ ॥

karavaar lai laal kee ar khet lagee barravaanal jiau ban mai |

Holding her sword in her hand, she dyed the battlefield in red as if the forest is on fire.,

ਤਬ ਘੇਰਿ ਲਈ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਦੈਤਨ ਇਉ ਉਪਮਾ ਉਪਜੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥

tab gher lee chahoon or te daitan iau upamaa upajee man mai |

When the demons besieged the goddess from all the four sides, the poet felt like this in his mind,

ਮਨੁ ਤੇ ਤਨੁ ਤੇਜੁ ਚਲਿਓ ਜਗ ਮਾਤ ਕੋ ਦਾਮਨਿ ਜਾਨ ਚਲੇ ਘਨ ਮੈ ॥੪੮॥

man te tan tej chalio jag maat ko daaman jaan chale ghan mai |48|

That the body of the mother of the world moved swifter than her mind, she appeared as lightning moving in the clouds.48.,

ਫੂਟ ਗਈ ਧੁਜਨੀ ਸਗਰੀ ਅਸਿ ਚੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਜਬੈ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥

foott gee dhujanee sagaree as chandd prachandd jabai kar leeno |

When the goddess held her sword in her hand, all the army of the demons cracked.,

ਦੈਤ ਮਰੈ ਨਹਿ ਬੇਖ ਕਰੈ ਬਹੁਤਉ ਬਰਬੰਡ ਮਹਾਬਲ ਕੀਨੋ ॥

dait marai neh bekh karai bahutau barabandd mahaabal keeno |

The demons were also very powerful, they did not die and instead were fighting in transformed forms.,

ਚਕ੍ਰ ਚਲਾਇ ਦਇਓ ਕਰਿ ਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਮਾਰ ਜੁਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੀਨੋ ॥

chakr chalaae deo kar te sir satr ko maar judaa kar deeno |

Chandi segregated the heads of the enemies by throwing her disc with her hands.,

ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਧਾਰ ਚਲੀ ਨਭ ਕੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੂਰ ਕੋ ਰਾਮ ਜਲਾਜਲ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੪੯॥

sraunat dhaar chalee nabh ko jan soor ko raam jalaajal deeno |49|

Consequently the current of bloods flowed as if Rama was offering water to the sun.49.,

ਸਬ ਸੂਰ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਦਏ ਤਿਹ ਖੇਤਿ ਮਹਾ ਬਰਬੰਡ ਪਰਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਕੈ ॥

sab soor sanghaar de tih khet mahaa barabandd paraakram kai |

When that mighty goddess killed all the chivalrous demons with her power,

ਤਹ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਭਇਓ ਧਰਨੀ ਪਰਿ ਪੁੰਜ ਗਿਰੇ ਅਸਿ ਕੈ ਧਮ ਕੈ ॥

teh sraunat sindh bheo dharanee par punj gire as kai dham kai |

Then so much mass of blood fell on the earth that it became a sea of blood.,

ਜਗ ਮਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਹਨੇ ਸੁਰ ਤਾਪ ਸੁ ਦਾਨਵ ਸੈਨ ਗਈ ਜਮ ਕੈ ॥

jag maat prataap hane sur taap su daanav sain gee jam kai |

The mother of the world, with her power, removed the suffering of gods and the demons went to the abode of Yama.,

ਬਹੁਰੋ ਅਰਿ ਸਿੰਧੁਰ ਕੇ ਦਲ ਪੈਠ ਕੈ ਦਾਮਿਨਿ ਜਿਉ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਦਮਕੈ ॥੫੦॥

bahuro ar sindhur ke dal paitth kai daamin jiau duragaa damakai |50|

Then the goddess Durga glistened like lightning amongst the army of elephants.50.,
