Salok, Fifth Mehl:

ਆਪੇ ਵੈਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ॥

aape vaid aap naaraaein |

The Lord Himself is the true physician.

ਏਹਿ ਵੈਦ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਇਣ ॥

ehi vaid jeea kaa dukh laaein |

These physicians of the world only burden the soul with pain.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਇਣ ॥

gur kaa sabad amrit ras khaaein |

The Word of the Guru's Shabad is Ambrosial Nectar; it is so delicious to eat.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਮਿਟਾਇਣ ॥੧॥

naanak jis man vasai tis ke sabh dookh mittaaein |1|

O Nanak, one whose mind is filled with this Nectar - all his pains are dispelled. ||1||
