Prabhaatee, First Mehl:
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਮਨ ਮਜਨੁ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਸੰਗਿ ਗਹੇ ॥
amrit neer giaan man majan atthasatth teerath sang gahe |
One who bathes in the Ambrosial Water of spiritual wisdom takes with him the virtues of the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਮਾਣਕ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਿਖੁ ਸੋੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥
gur upades javaahar maanak seve sikh so khoj lahai |1|
The Guru's Teachings are the gems and jewels; the Sikh who serves Him searches and finds them. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
gur samaan teerath nahee koe |
There is no sacred shrine equal to the Guru.
ਸਰੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਤਾਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sar santokh taas gur hoe |1| rahaau |
The Guru encompasses the ocean of contentment. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੁ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਸਦਾ ਜਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਹਰੈ ॥
gur dareeaau sadaa jal niramal miliaa duramat mail harai |
The Guru is the River, from which the Pure Water is obtained forever; it washes away the filth and pollution of evil-mindedness.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਇਐ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾਵਣੁ ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤਹੁ ਦੇਵ ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥
satigur paaeiai pooraa naavan pasoo paretahu dev karai |2|
Finding the True Guru, the perfect cleansing bath is obtained, which transforms even beasts and ghosts into gods. ||2||
ਰਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਲ ਹੀਅਲੁ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
rataa sach naam tal heeal so gur paramal kaheeai |
He is said to be the Guru, with the scent of sandalwood, who is imbued with the True Name to the bottom of His Heart.
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਵਾਸੁ ਬਨਾਸਪਤਿ ਸਉਰੈ ਤਾਸੁ ਚਰਣ ਲਿਵ ਰਹੀਐ ॥੩॥
jaa kee vaas banaasapat saurai taas charan liv raheeai |3|
By His Fragrance, the world of vegetation is perfumed. Lovingly focus yourself on His Feet. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਉਪਜਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
guramukh jeea praan upajeh guramukh siv ghar jaaeeai |
The life of the soul wells up for the Gurmukh; the Gurmukh goes to the House of God.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਜ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੬॥
guramukh naanak sach samaaeeai guramukh nij pad paaeeai |4|6|
The Gurmukh, O Nanak, merges in the True One; the Gurmukh attains the exalted state of the self. ||4||6||
