Pauree:

ਆਪੇ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥

aape sabh ghatt andare aape hee baahar |

He Himself is deep within all hearts, and He Himself is outside them.

ਆਪੇ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਹਰਿ ॥

aape gupat varatadaa aape hee jaahar |

He Himself is prevailing unmanifest, and He Himself is manifest.

ਜੁਗ ਛਤੀਹ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਸੁੰਨਾਹਰਿ ॥

jug chhateeh gubaar kar varatiaa sunaahar |

For thirty-six ages, He created the darkness, abiding in the void.

ਓਥੈ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਨ ਸਾਸਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਰਹਰਿ ॥

othai ved puraan na saasataa aape har narahar |

There were no Vedas, Puraanas or Shaastras there; only the Lord Himself existed.

ਬੈਠਾ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥

baitthaa taarree laae aap sabh doo hee baahar |

He Himself sat in the absolute trance, withdrawn from everything.

ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਗਉਹਰੁ ॥੧੮॥

aapanee mit aap jaanadaa aape hee gauhar |18|

Only He Himself knows His state; He Himself is the unfathomable ocean. ||18||
