ਬਨਿਯਾ ਏਕ ਓਡਛੇ ਰਹਈ ॥

baniyaa ek oddachhe rahee |

ਅਧਿਕ ਦਰਬ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਜਗ ਕਹਈ ॥

adhik darab jaa ke jag kahee |

In the city of Odchhe, a Banyia, moneylender, used to live; he was very wealthy.

ਤਿਲਕ ਮੰਜਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਨਾਰੀ ॥

tilak manjaree taa kee naaree |

ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਲਈ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਉਜਿਯਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
