ਗਹਿ ਚੁੰਬਨ ਲਾਗੀ ਕਰਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਨਿਕਸਯਾ ਆਇ ॥

geh chunban laagee karan nripat nikasayaa aae |

ਤਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਇਕ ਅਧਿਕ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਸਕੁਚਾਇ ॥੫॥

Being ashamed, then, the lady staged a trickery.(5)

ਯਾ ਦਿਜਬਰ ਤੇ ਮੈ ਭ੍ਰਮੀ ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਮ ਸੂਰ ॥

yaa dijabar te mai bhramee sun raajaa mam soor |

‘I had felt some doubt in the intention of this Brahmin,

ਜਿਨਿ ਇਨ ਚੋਰਿ ਭਖ੍ਰਯੋ ਕਛੂ ਸੁੰਘਨ ਹੁਤੀ ਕਪੂਰ ॥੬॥

jin in chor bhakhrayo kachhoo sunghan hutee kapoor |6|

‘I was trying to detect the smell of camphor in his mouth.’(6)

ਸੂਰ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਨਿ ਮੂਰਿ ਮਤਿ ਅਤਿ ਹਰਖਤ ਭਯੋ ਜੀਯ ॥

soor naam sun moor mat at harakhat bhayo jeey |

Hearing this the foolish Raja was satisfied,

ਸੀਂਘਤ ਹੁਤੀ ਕਪੂਰ ਕਹ ਧੰਨ︀ਯ ਧੰਨ︀ਯ ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰੀਯ ॥੭॥

seenghat hutee kapoor keh dhanay dhanay ih treey |7|

And started to shower the praises on the lady smelling camphor.(7)(1)
