ਮਿਥਿਆ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥

mithiaa tan dhan kuttanb sabaaeaa |

False are body, wealth, and all relations.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥

mithiaa haumai mamataa maaeaa |

False are ego, possessiveness and Maya.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨ ਧਨ ਮਾਲ ॥

mithiaa raaj joban dhan maal |

False are power, youth, wealth and property.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥

mithiaa kaam krodh bikaraal |

False are sexual desire and wild anger.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਥ ਹਸਤੀ ਅਸ੍ਵ ਬਸਤ੍ਰਾ ॥

mithiaa rath hasatee asv basatraa |

False are chariots, elephants, horses and expensive clothes.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰੰਗ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਪੇਖਿ ਹਸਤਾ ॥

mithiaa rang sang maaeaa pekh hasataa |

False is the love of gathering wealth, and reveling in the sight of it.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਧ੍ਰੋਹ ਮੋਹ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥

mithiaa dhroh moh abhimaan |

False are deception, emotional attachment and egotistical pride.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਆਪਸ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥

mithiaa aapas aoopar karat gumaan |

False are pride and self-conceit.

ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸਰਨ ॥

asathir bhagat saadh kee saran |

Only devotional worship is permanent, and the Sanctuary of the Holy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥੪॥

naanak jap jap jeevai har ke charan |4|
