Raag Gauree, Ninth Mehl:

ਸਾਧੋ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਉ ॥

saadho man kaa maan tiaagau |

Holy Saadhus: forsake the pride of your mind.

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਕੀ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭਾਗਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kaam krodh sangat durajan kee taa te ahinis bhaagau |1| rahaau |

Sexual desire, anger and the company of evil people - run away from them, day and night. ||1||Pause||

ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੋਨੋ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਅਉਰੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਅਪਮਾਨਾ ॥

sukh dukh dono sam kar jaanai aaur maan apamaanaa |

One who knows that pain and pleasure are both the same, and honor and dishonor as well,

ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਤੇ ਰਹੈ ਅਤੀਤਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਗਿ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੧॥

harakh sog te rahai ateetaa tin jag tat pachhaanaa |1|

who remains detached from joy and sorrow, realizes the true essence in the world. ||1||

ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੋਊ ਤਿਆਗੈ ਖੋਜੈ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨਾ ॥

ausatat nindaa doaoo tiaagai khojai pad nirabaanaa |

Renounce both praise and blame; seek instead the state of Nirvaanaa.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਕਠਨੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੧॥

jan naanak ihu khel katthan hai kinahoon guramukh jaanaa |2|1|

O servant Nanak, this is such a difficult game; only a few Gurmukhs understand it! ||2||1||
