ਕਾਉਂ ਕਪੂਰ ਨ ਚਖਈ ਦੁਰਗੰਧਿ ਸੁਖਾਵੈ ।

ਹਾਥੀ ਨੀਰਿ ਨ੍ਹਵਾਲੀਐ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਾਰੁ ਉਡਾਵੈ ।

ਸਿਮਲੁ ਰੁਖੁ ਸਰੇਵੀਐ ਫਲੁ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ।

simal rukh sareveeai fal hath na aavai |

Even if the silk-cotton tree is well served (with water and manure etc.), no fruit is gained from it.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ।

nindak naam vihooniaa satisang na bhaavai |

The backbiters being devoid of the neim of the Lord, do not like the holy congregation.

ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਆਗੂ ਜੇ ਥੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਥੁ ਮੁਹਾਵੈ ।੨।
