ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਤਾ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਦਰਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥

taa kaa kahiaa dar paravaan |

What he says is approved in the Court of the Lord.

ਬਿਖੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੧॥

bikh amrit due sam kar jaan |1|

He looks upon poison and nectar as one and the same. ||1||

ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਰਬੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

kiaa kaheeai sarabe rahiaa samaae |

What can I say? You are permeating and pervading all.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jo kichh varatai sabh teree rajaae |1| rahaau |

Whatever happens, is all by Your Will. ||1||Pause||

ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਚੂਕਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥

pragattee jot chookaa abhimaan |

The Divine Light shines radiantly, and egotistical pride is dispelled.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥

satigur deea amrit naam |2|

The True Guru bestows the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੁ ॥

kal meh aaeaa so jan jaan |

In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, one's birth is approved,

ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਣੁ ॥੩॥

saachee daragah paavai maan |3|

if one is honored in the True Court. ||3||

ਕਹਣਾ ਸੁਨਣਾ ਅਕਥ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

kahanaa sunanaa akath ghar jaae |

Speaking and listening, one goes to the Celestial Home of the Indescribable Lord.

ਕਥਨੀ ਬਦਨੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੫॥

kathanee badanee naanak jal jaae |4|5|

Mere words of mouth, O Nanak, are burnt away. ||4||5||
