Bhairao, Third Mehl:

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥

gur sevaa te amrit fal paaeaa haumai trisan bujhaaee |

Serving the Guru, I obtain the Ambrosial Fruit; my egotism and desire have been quenched.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥

har kaa naam hridai man vasiaa manasaa maneh samaaee |1|

The Name of the Lord dwells within my heart and mind, and the desires of my mind are quieted. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

har jeeo kripaa karahu mere piaare |

O Dear Lord, my Beloved, please bless me with Your Mercy.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਦੀਨ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

anadin har gun deen jan maangai gur kai sabad udhaare |1| rahaau |

Night and day, Your humble servant begs for Your Glorious Praises; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he is saved. ||1||Pause||

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਰਤੀ ਅੰਚ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਲਾਈ ॥

sant janaa kau jam johi na saakai ratee anch dookh na laaee |

The Messenger of Death cannot even touch the humble Saints; it does not cause them even an iota of suffering or pain.

ਆਪਿ ਤਰਹਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥

aap tareh sagale kul taareh jo teree saranaaee |2|

Those who enter Your Sanctuary, Lord, save themselves, and save all their ancestors as well. ||2||

ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਹਿ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਏਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

bhagataa kee paij rakheh too aape eeh teree vaddiaaee |

You Yourself save the honor of Your devotees; this is Your Glory, O Lord.

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟਹਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਰਤੀ ਨ ਰਾਈ ॥੩॥

janam janam ke kilavikh dukh kaatteh dubidhaa ratee na raaee |3|

You cleanse them of the sins and the pains of countless incarnations; You love them without even an iota of duality. ||3||

ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਕਿਛੁ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥

ham moorr mugadh kichh boojheh naahee too aape dehi bujhaaee |

I am foolish and ignorant, and understand nothing. You Yourself bless me with understanding.

ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਸੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥

jo tudh bhaavai soee karasee avar na karanaa jaaee |4|

You do whatever You please; nothing else can be done at all. ||4||

ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ਭੂੰਡੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ॥

jagat upaae tudh dhandhai laaeaa bhoonddee kaar kamaaee |

Creating the world, You have linked all to their tasks - even the evil deeds which men do.

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰਿਆ ਸਬਦੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥

janam padaarath jooai haariaa sabadai surat na paaee |5|

They lose this precious human life in the gamble, and do not understand the Word of the Shabad. ||5||

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥

manamukh mareh tin kichhoo na soojhai duramat agiaan andhaaraa |

The self-willed manmukhs die, understanding nothing; they are enveloped by the darkness of evil-mindedness and ignorance.

ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਰਾ ॥੬॥

bhavajal paar na paaveh kab hee ddoob mue bin gur sir bhaaraa |6|

They do not cross over the terrible world-ocean; without the Guru, they drown and die. ||6||

ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

saachai sabad rate jan saache har prabh aap milaae |

True are those humble beings who are imbued with the True Shabad; the Lord God unites them with Himself.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੭॥

gur kee baanee sabad pachhaatee saach rahe liv laae |7|

Through the Word of the Guru's Bani, they come to understand the Shabad. They remain lovingly focused on the True Lord. ||7||

ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥

toon aap niramal tere jan hai niramal gur kai sabad veechaare |

You Yourself are Immaculate and Pure, and pure are Your humble servants who contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੮॥੨॥੩॥

naanak tin kai sad balihaarai raam naam ur dhaare |8|2|3|

Nanak is forever a sacrifice to those, who enshrine the Lord's Name within their hearts. ||8||2||3||
