ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਰਣੰ ਸੁਧਿ ਸਾਵੰਤ ਭਾਵੰਤ ਗਾਜੇ ॥

ranan sudh saavant bhaavant gaaje |

ਤਹਾ ਤੂਰ ਭੇਰੀ ਮਹਾ ਸੰਖ ਬਾਜੇ ॥

tahaa toor bheree mahaa sankh baaje |

The warriors thundering in the battlefield and the kettledrums and conches etc. sounded there

ਭਯੋ ਉਚ ਕੋਲਾਹਲੰ ਬੀਰ ਖੇਤੰ ॥

bhayo uch kolaahalan beer khetan |

There was terrible uproar of warrior

ਬਹੇ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਨਚੇ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤੰ ॥੨੯੭॥

bahe sasatr asatran nache bhoot pretan |297|

The arms and weapons were struck and the ghosts and fiends danced.70.297.

ਫਰੀ ਧੋਪ ਪਾਇਕ ਸੁ ਖੰਡੇ ਬਿਸੇਖੰ ॥

faree dhop paaeik su khandde bisekhan |

ਤੁਰੇ ਤੁੰਦ ਤਾਜੀ ਭਏ ਭੂਤ ਭੇਖੰ ॥

ture tund taajee bhe bhoot bhekhan |

Holding the sword, the prominent warriors were fragmented and the high-speed horses ran before the Vaitals in the battlefield

ਰਣੰ ਰਾਗ ਬਜੇ ਤਿ ਗਜੇ ਭਟਾਣੰ ॥

ranan raag baje ti gaje bhattaanan |

The war-horns were blown and the warriors thundered

ਤੁਰੀ ਤਤ ਨਚੇ ਪਲਟੇ ਭਟਾਣੰ ॥੨੯੮॥

turee tat nache palatte bhattaanan |298|

The horses danced and the mighty warriors struck their blows while turning over.71.298.

ਹਿਣੰਕੇਤ ਹੈਵਾਰ ਗੈਵਾਰ ਗਾਜੀ ॥

hinanket haivaar gaivaar gaajee |

ਮਟਕੇ ਮਹਾਬੀਰ ਸੁਟੇ ਸਿਰਾਜੀ ॥

mattake mahaabeer sutte siraajee |

The horses neighed and the bodies of the mighty warriors writhed

ਕੜਾਕੁਟ ਸਸਤ੍ਰਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਜੇ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥

karraakutt sasatraasatr baje apaaran |

ਨਚੇ ਸੁਧ ਸਿਧੰ ਉਠੀ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਝਾਰੰ ॥੨੯੯॥

nache sudh sidhan utthee sasatr jhaaran |299|

There was clattering of the arms and weapons and the adepts and Yogis, getting intoxicated began to dance with the tune of the weapons.72.299.

ਕਿਲੰਕੀਤ ਕਾਲੀ ਕਮਛ੍ਰਯਾ ਕਰਾਲੰ ॥

kilankeet kaalee kamachhrayaa karaalan |

ਬਕ︀ਯੋ ਬੀਰ ਬੈਤਾਲੰ ਬਾਮੰਤ ਜ੍ਵਾਲੰ ॥

bakayo beer baitaalan baamant jvaalan |

The dreadful goddesses Kali and Kamakhya shrieked violently and the worriors throwing fire-arms and the Vaitals and Vultures terribly shouts

ਚਵੀ ਚਾਵਡੀ ਚਾਵ ਚਉਸਠਿ ਬਾਲੰ ॥

chavee chaavaddee chaav chausatth baalan |

ਕਰੈ ਸ੍ਰੋਣਹਾਰੰ ਬਮੈ ਜੋਗ ਜ੍ਵਾਲੰ ॥੩੦੦॥

karai sronahaaran bamai jog jvaalan |300|

The sixty-four Yoginis wearing rosaries saturated with blood enthusiastically threw the flames of Yoga.73.300.

ਛੁਰੀ ਛਿਪ੍ਰ ਛੰਡੈਤਿ ਮੰਡੈ ਰਣਾਰੰ ॥

chhuree chhipr chhanddait manddai ranaaran |

ਤਮਕੈਤ ਤਾਜੀ ਭਭਕੈ ਭਟਾਣੰ ॥

tamakait taajee bhabhakai bhattaanan |

The sharp knives were thrown in the field, which caused the galloping horses to become furious and the blood of the warriors oozed out and flowed

ਸੁਭੇ ਸੰਦਲੀ ਬੋਜ ਬਾਜੀ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥

subhe sandalee boj baajee apaaran |

ਬਹੇ ਬੋਰ ਪਿੰਗੀ ਸਮੁੰਦੇ ਕੰਧਾਰੰ ॥੩੦੧॥

bahe bor pingee samunde kandhaaran |301|

The horses to good races looked splendid and the Kandhari, Samundari and other types of horses also wandered.74.301.

ਤੁਰੇ ਤੁੰਦ ਤਾਜੀ ਉਠੇ ਕਛ ਅਛੰ ॥

ture tund taajee utthe kachh achhan |

ਕਛੇ ਆਰਬੀ ਪਬ ਮਾਨੋ ਸਪਛੰ ॥

kachhe aarabee pab maano sapachhan |

The speedy horses of Kutch state were running and the horses of Arabia, while running looked like the mounts flying with wings

ਉਠੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਪੂਰੰ ਛੁਹੀ ਐਣ ਗੈਣੰ ॥

autthee dhoor pooran chhuhee ain gainan |

ਭਯੋ ਅੰਧ ਧੁੰਧੰ ਪਰੀ ਜਾਨੁ ਰੈਣੰ ॥੩੦੨॥

bhayo andh dhundhan paree jaan rainan |302|

The dust which arose, covered the sky like this and there was so much mist that the night seemed to have fallen.75.302.

ਇਤੈ ਦਤ ਧਾਯੋ ਅਨਾਦਤ ਉਤੰ ॥

eitai dat dhaayo anaadat utan |

From one side, the followers of Dutt ran and from the second side other people

ਰਹੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਪੂਰੰ ਪਰੀ ਕਟਿ ਲੁਥੰ ॥

rahee dhoor pooran paree katt luthan |

All atmosphere became dusty and the chopped corpses fell

ਅਨਾਵਰਤ ਬੀਰੰ ਮਹਾਬਰਤ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

anaavarat beeran mahaabarat dhaaree |

ਚੜ︀ਯੋ ਚਉਪਿ ਕੈ ਤੁੰਦ ਨਚੇ ਤਤਾਰੀ ॥੩੦੩॥

charrayo chaup kai tund nache tataaree |303|

The vows of the great vows-observing warriors broke and they enthusiastically mounted on the horses of Tattar and began to dance.76.303.

ਖੁਰੰ ਖੇਹ ਉਠੀ ਛਯੋ ਰਥ ਭਾਨੰ ॥

khuran kheh utthee chhayo rath bhaanan |

ਦਿਸਾ ਬੇਦਿਸਾ ਭੂ ਨ ਦਿਖ੍ਰਯਾ ਸਮਾਨੰ ॥

disaa bedisaa bhoo na dikhrayaa samaanan |

The dust from the hoofs of the horses covered the chariot of the sun and it deviated from its path and was not seen on the earth

ਛੁਟੇ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਰੀ ਭੀਰ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

chhutte sasatr asatr paree bheer bhaaree |

ਛੁਟੇ ਤੀਰ ਕਰਵਾਰ ਕਾਤੀ ਕਟਾਰੀ ॥੩੦੪॥

chhutte teer karavaar kaatee kattaaree |304|

There was great stampede and the arms and weapons swords, shears, daggers etc. were struck.77.304.

ਗਹੇ ਬਾਣ ਦਤੰ ਅਨਾਦਤ ਮਾਰ︀ਯੋ ॥

gahe baan datan anaadat maarayo |

ਭਜੀ ਸਰਬ ਸੈਣੰ ਨ ਨੈਣੰ ਨਿਹਾਰ︀ਯੋ ॥

bhajee sarab sainan na nainan nihaarayo |

Holding his arrow, Dutt, discharged it on others and without seeing, the whole army ran away

ਜਿਨ੍ਰਯੋ ਬੀਰ ਏਕੈ ਅਨੇਕੰ ਪਰਾਨੋ ॥

jinrayo beer ekai anekan paraano |

Only one warriors conquered all and many warriors fled

ਪੁਰਾਨੇ ਪਲਾਸੀ ਹਨੇ ਪੌਨ ਮਾਨੋ ॥੩੦੫॥

puraane palaasee hane pauan maano |305|

The feet of the warriors were uprooted like the uprooting of the old Palaash trees by the wind.78.305.

ਰਣੰ ਰੋਸ ਕੈ ਲੋਭ ਬਾਜੀ ਮਟਕ੍ਰਯੋ ॥

ranan ros kai lobh baajee mattakrayo |

Getting enraged in the war, Lobh (greed) caused his horse to run

ਭਜ︀ਯੋ ਬੀਰ ਬਾਚ੍ਰਯੋ ਅਰ੍ਰਯੋ ਸੁ ਝਟਕ︀ਯੋ ॥

bhajayo beer baachrayo arrayo su jhattakayo |

Whosoever ran away from him, was saved, he stood there, was killed with a jerk

ਫਿਰ︀ਯੋ ਦੇਖ ਬੀਰੰ ਅਨਾਲੋਭ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

firayo dekh beeran anaalobh dhaayo |

ਛੁਟੇ ਬਾਣ ਐਸੇ ਸਬੈ ਬ︀ਯੋਮ ਛਾਯੋ ॥੩੦੬॥

chhutte baan aise sabai bayom chhaayo |306|

The warrior named Alobh (non-greed), seeing him, returned and Lobha discharged so many arrows, which spread over the sky.79.306.

ਦਸੰ ਬਾਣ ਲੈ ਬੀਰ ਧੀਰੰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥

dasan baan lai beer dheeran prahaare |

ਸਰੰ ਸਠਿ ਲੈ ਸੰਜਮੈ ਤਾਕਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥

saran satth lai sanjamai taak maare |

He attacked with ten arrows on the warrior named Dhairya (patience) and he discharged sixty arrows on, making Sanjam (restraint) as his target

ਨਵੰ ਬਾਣ ਸੋ ਨੇਮ ਕੋ ਅੰਗ ਛੇਦ︀ਯੋ ॥

navan baan so nem ko ang chhedayo |

ਬਲੀ ਬੀਸਿ ਬਾਣਾਨਿ ਬਿਗ੍ਰਯਾਨ ਬੇਧ੍ਰਯੋ ॥੩੦੭॥

balee bees baanaan bigrayaan bedhrayo |307|

He pierced the limbs of Nem (principle) with his nine arrows and with twenty arrows, he attacked the mighty warrior Vigyan (Science).80.307.

ਪਚਿਸ ਬਾਣ ਪਾਵਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥

pachis baan paavitrataa ko prahaare |

ਅਸੀਹ ਬਾਣ ਅਰਚਾਹਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਗਿ ਝਾਰੇ ॥

aseeh baan arachaeh kai ang jhaare |

He attacked Pavitarta with twenty-five arrows and Arcchana with eighty arrows, whose limbs were chopped by him

ਪਚਾਸੀ ਸਰੰ ਪੂਰਿ ਪੂਜਾਹਿ ਛੇਦ︀ਯੋ ॥

pachaasee saran poor poojaeh chhedayo |

ਬਡੋ ਲਸਟਕਾ ਲੈ ਸਲਜਾਹਿ ਭੇਦ︀ਯੋ ॥੩੦੮॥

baddo lasattakaa lai salajaeh bhedayo |308|

He destroyed the complete Pooja (worship) with eighty-five arrows he beat Lajja with his big staff.81.308.

ਬਿਆਸੀ ਬਲੀ ਬਾਣ ਬਿਦ੍ਰਯਾਹਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥

biaasee balee baan bidrayaeh maare |

ਤਪਸ੍ਰਯਾਹਿ ਪੈ ਤਾਕਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਡਾਰੇ ॥

tapasrayaeh pai taak tetees ddaare |

Eighty-two arrows were discharged on Vidya and thirty-three on Tapasya:

ਕਈ ਬਾਣ ਸੋਂ ਕੀਰਤਨੰ ਅੰਗ ਛੇਦ︀ਯੋ ॥

kee baan son keeratanan ang chhedayo |

The limbs of Keerti were pierced with innumerable arrows

ਅਲੋਭਾਦਿ ਜੋਧਾ ਭਲੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਭੇਦ︀ਯੋ ॥੩੦੯॥

alobhaad jodhaa bhalee bhaat bhedayo |309|

The warriors like Alobh etc. were dealt with nicely.82.309.

ਨ੍ਰਿਹੰਕਾਰ ਕੋ ਬਾਨ ਅਸੀਨ ਛੇਦ︀ਯੋ ॥

nrihankaar ko baan aseen chhedayo |

ਭਲੇ ਪਰਮ ਤਤ੍ਵਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਬਛ ਭੇਦ︀ਯੋ ॥

bhale param tatvaad ko bachh bhedayo |

He pierced Nir-Ahamkara with eighty arrows and also touched with his arms the waist of Pram-Tattva etc.

ਕਈ ਬਾਣ ਕਰੁਣਾਹਿ ਕੇ ਅੰਗਿ ਝਾਰੇ ॥

kee baan karunaeh ke ang jhaare |

ਸਰੰ ਸਉਕ ਸਿਛਿਆ ਕੇ ਅੰਗਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੩੧੦॥

saran sauk sichhiaa ke ang maare |310|

The limbs of Karuna were cast down with many arrows and nearly one hundred arrows were discharged on the limbs of Shiksha.83.310.
