ਸਉ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਿਖ ਸੰਤ ਇਕੋਤਰ ਸੌ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ।
sau vich varatai sikh sant ikotar sau satigur abinaasee |
If the Sikh is hundred times, the eternal true Guru is hundred and one times.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦੀਵ ਦੀਵਾਣ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਸਦਾ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਸੀ ।
sadaa sadeev deevaan jis asathir sadaa na aavai jaasee |
His court is ever steadfast and he never undergoes the cycle of transmigration.
ਇਕ ਮਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹੈਂ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਕਾਟੀ ਗਲਹੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਜਮ ਫਾਸੀ ।
eik man jinhain dhiaaeaa kaattee galahu tisai jam faasee |
He who meditates upon Him with singleminded devotion, gets his noose of Yama, cut asunder.
ਇਕੋ ਇਕ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਣਾਸੀ ।
eiko ik varatadaa sabad surat satiguroo janaasee |
That one Lord alone pervades everywhere, and only by merging consciousness in the word that true Guru can be known.
ਬਿਨੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤਾ ਫਿਰੇ ਲਖ ਜੂਨਿ ਚਉਰਾਸੀ ।
bin darasan gur moorat bhramataa fire lakh joon chauraasee |
Without the glimpse of the manifest Guru (the word of Guru), thefts, wanders in eightyfour lacs of species of life.
ਬਿਨੁ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਰਕ ਪਵਾਸੀ ।
bin deekhiaa guradev dee mar janame vich narak pavaasee |
Without the teachings of Guru, the jivgoes on taking birth and dying and is ultimately thrown in hell.
ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਸਰਗੁਣ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਸਮਾਸੀ ।
niragun saragun satiguroo viralaa ko gur sabad samaasee |
The true Guru (Lord) is without attributes and yet possesses all the qualities.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਓਟ ਨ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋ ਸਚੀ ਓਟ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ।
bin gur ott na hor ko sachee ott na kade binaasee |
A rare one absorbes himself in the word of the Guru. There is no shelter without Guru's and this true refuge never gets destroyed.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਥਿਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਹਾਸੀ ।
guraan guroo satigur purakh aad ant thir guroo rahaasee |
The true Guru (Lord), Guru of all Gurus, is the immutable Guru from beginning to end.
ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਸੀ ।੨੧।

Any rare gurmukh gets merged in the equipoise.
