ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਲੋਚਨ ਬਿਲੋਕੀਐ ਨ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਬਿਹੂੰਨ ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਨ ਸੁਨੀਜੀਐ ।

jaise bin lochan bilokeeai na roop rang sravan bihoon raag naad na suneejeeai |

Just as without eyes a face cannot be seen and without ears, no musical note can be heard.

ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਨ ਉਚਰੈ ਬਚਨ ਅਰ ਨਾਸਕਾ ਬਿਹੂੰਨ ਬਾਸ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਨ ਲੀਜੀਐ ।

jaise bin jihabaa na ucharai bachan ar naasakaa bihoon baas baasanaa na leejeeai |

Just as without tongue, no word can be spoken and without nose no fragrance can be smelled.

ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਕਿਰਤ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਚਰਨ ਬਿਹੂੰਨ ਭਉਨ ਗਉਨ ਕਤ ਕੀਜੀਐ ।

jaise bin kar kar sakai na kirat kram charan bihoon bhaun gaun kat keejeeai |

Just as without hands no accomplishable work can be done and without feet no place can be reached.

ਅਸਨ ਬਸਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਨ ਧਰੈ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੀਐ ।੫੩੩।

asan basan bin dheeraj na dharai deh bin gur sabad na prem ras peejeeai |533|

Just as without food and clothes a body cannot be kept healthy; similarly without the teachings and divine words obtainable from the True Guru, the wondrous elixir of Lord's love cannot be relished. (533)
