ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ॥

gur gopaal gur govindaa |

The Guru is the Lord of the World, the Guru is the Master of the Universe.

ਗੁਰੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਬਖਸਿੰਦਾ ॥

gur deaal sadaa bakhasindaa |

The Guru is merciful, and always forgiving.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਅਸਥਾਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥

gur saasat simrit khatt karamaa gur pavitru asathaanaa he |1|

The Guru is the Shaastras, the Simritees and the six rituals. The Guru is the Holy Shrine. ||1||

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸਹਿ ॥

gur simarat sabh kilavikh naaseh |

Meditating in remembrance on the Guru, all the sins are erased.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਫਾਸਹਿ ॥

gur simarat jam sang na faaseh |

Meditating in remembrance on the Guru, one is not strangled by the noose of Death.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਾਟੇ ਅਪਮਾਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥

gur simarat man niramal hovai gur kaatte apamaanaa he |2|

Meditating in remembrance on the Guru, the mind becomes immaculate; the Guru eliminates egotistical pride. ||2||

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥

gur kaa sevak narak na jaae |

The Guru's servant is not consigned to hell.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥

gur kaa sevak paarabraham dhiaae |

The Guru's servant meditates on the Supreme Lord God.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਦਾ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥

gur kaa sevak saadhasang paae gur karadaa nit jeea daanaa he |3|

The Guru's servant joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; the Guru ever gives the life of the soul. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ॥

gur duaarai har keeratan suneeai |

At the Gurdwara, the Guru's Gate, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are sung.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਣੀਐ ॥

satigur bhett har jas mukh bhaneeai |

Meeting with the True Guru, one chants the Lord's Praises.

ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੪॥

kal kales mittaae satigur har daragah devai maanaan he |4|

The True Guru eradicates sorrow and suffering, and bestows honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4||

ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥

agam agochar guroo dikhaaeaa |

The Guru has revealed the inaccessible and unfathomable Lord.

ਭੂਲਾ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

bhoolaa maarag satigur paaeaa |

The True Guru returns to the Path, those who have wandered away.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੑਾਇਆ ਗਿਆਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੫॥

gur sevak kau bighan na bhagatee har poor drirraaeaa giaanaan he |5|

No obstacles stand in the way of devotion to the Lord, for one who serves the Guru. The Guru implants perfect spiritual wisdom. ||5||

ਗੁਰਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ਸਭਨੀ ਠਾਂਈ ॥

gur drisattaaeaa sabhanee tthaanee |

The Guru has revealed the Lord everywhere.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥

jal thal poor rahiaa gosaaee |

The Lord of the Universe is permeating and pervading the water and the land.

ਊਚ ਊਨ ਸਭ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥

aooch aoon sabh ek samaanaan man laagaa sehaj dhiaanaa he |6|

The high and the low are all the same to Him. Focus your mind's meditation intuitively on Him. ||6||

ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਭ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥

gur miliai sabh trisan bujhaaee |

Meeting with the Guru, all thirst is quenched.

ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਨਹ ਜੋਹੈ ਮਾਈ ॥

gur miliai neh johai maaee |

Meeting with the Guru, one is not watched by Maya.

ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀ ਪਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੭॥

sat santokh deea gur poorai naam amrit pee paanaan he |7|

The Perfect Guru bestows truth and contentment; I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||7||

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

gur kee baanee sabh maeh samaanee |

The Word of the Guru's Bani is contained in all.

ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥

aap sunee tai aap vakhaanee |

He Himself hears it, and He Himself repeats it.

ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਪੀ ਤੇਈ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਸਤ੍ਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੮॥

jin jin japee teee sabh nisatre tin paaeaa nihachal thaanaan he |8|

Those who meditate on it, are all emancipated; they attain the eternal and unchanging home. ||8||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

satigur kee mahimaa satigur jaanai |

The Glory of the True Guru is known only to the True Guru.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪਣ ਭਾਣੈ ॥

jo kichh kare su aapan bhaanai |

Whatever He does, is according to the Pleasure of His Will.

ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੯॥੧॥੪॥

saadhoo dhoor jaacheh jan tere naanak sad kurabaanaan he |9|1|4|

Your humble servants beg for the dust of the feet of the Holy; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||9||1||4||
