ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਿ ਸਭੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਰੈਨ ਪਰੇ ਘਰ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸੋਏ ॥

hoe prasan sabhe brij ke jan rain pare ghar bheetar soe |

All the people of Braja, being pleased, slept in their homes at night

ਆਗ ਲਗੀ ਸੁ ਦਿਸਾ ਬਿਦਿਸਾ ਮਧਿ ਜਾਗ ਤਬੈ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਡਰਿ ਰੋਏ ॥

aag lagee su disaa bidisaa madh jaag tabai tih te ddar roe |

The fire broke out at night in all directions and all became afraid

ਰਛ ਕਰੈ ਹਮਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਇਹ ਚਿਤਿ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ਤਹਾ ਕਹੁ ਹੋਏ ॥

rachh karai hamaree har jee ih chit bichaar tahaa kahu hoe |

All of them thought that they would be protected by Krishna

ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੀਚ ਲਯੋ ਇਤਨੈ ਸੁ ਤਊ ਦੁਖ ਖੋਏ ॥੨੨੨॥

drig baat kahee karunaa nidh meech layo itanai su taoo dukh khoe |222|

Krishna told them to close their eyes, so that all their sufferings may end.222.

ਮੀਚ ਲਏ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਜਉ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਨਰ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਹਰਿਦੌ ਤਉ ॥

meech le drig jau sabh hee nar paan kariyo har jee haridau tau |

As soon as all the people closed their eyes, Krishna drank the whole fire

ਦੋਖ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਦਯੋ ਪੁਰ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਹਨਿ ਦਯੋ ਭਉ ॥

dokh mittaae dayo pur ko sabh hee jan ke man ko han dayo bhau |

He removed all their sufferings and fears

ਚਿੰਤ ਕਛੂ ਨਹਿ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਜਿਨ ਕੋ ਕਰੁਨਾਨਿਧਿ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੈ ਖਉ ॥

chint kachhoo neh hai tih ko jin ko karunaanidh door karai khau |

ਦੂਰ ਕਰੀ ਤਪਤਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਜਨੁ ਡਾਰ ਦਯੋ ਜਲ ਕੋ ਛਲ ਕੈ ਰਉ ॥੨੨੩॥

door karee tapataa tih kee jan ddaar dayo jal ko chhal kai rau |223|

They whose agony is removed by Krishna, how can they remain anxious for anything? The heat of all was cooled don as if they were cooled by washing in the waves of water.223.
