SWAYYA

ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਓ ਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਭਗਵੰਤਿ ਨ ਮਾਰ ਸਕੈ ਅਤਿ ਦੈਤ ਬਲੀ ਹੈ ॥

judh kario tin so bhagavant na maar sakai at dait balee hai |

The Lord waged the war against the demons, but He could not kill them because they were very brave.

ਸਾਲ ਭਏ ਤਿਨ ਪੰਚ ਹਜਾਰ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਲਰਤੇ ਨਹਿ ਬਾਹ ਟਲੀ ਹੈ ॥

saal bhe tin panch hajaar duhoon larate neh baah ttalee hai |

It took five thousand years in fighting, but they were not tired.

ਦੈਤਨ ਰੀਝ ਕਹਿਓ ਬਰ ਮਾਗ ਕਹਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਸੀਸਨ ਦੇਹੁ ਭਲੀ ਹੈ ॥

daitan reejh kahio bar maag kahio har seesan dehu bhalee hai |

Having been pleased with the power of the Lord, the demons asked the Lord to request for a boon, the Lord asked them to surrender their bodies.

ਧਾਰਿ ਉਰੂ ਪਰਿ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਸੋ ਕਾਟ ਕੈ ਜੋਤ ਲੈ ਆਪਨੈ ਅੰਗਿ ਮਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥

dhaar uroo par chakr so kaatt kai jot lai aapanai ang malee hai |11|

Putting them in his lap, the Lord cut off their heads and assimilated their strength within Himself.11.
