Gauree Bairaagan, Third Mehl:
ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
peeearrai din chaar hai har har likh paaeaa |
The Lord, Har, Har, has ordained that the soul is to stay in her parents' home for only a few short days.
ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
sobhaavantee naar hai guramukh gun gaaeaa |
Glorious is that soul-bride, who as Gurmukh, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਮਲੈ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਵਾਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
pevakarrai gun samalai saahurai vaas paaeaa |
She who cultivates virtue in her parents' home, shall obtain a home at her in-laws.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
guramukh sehaj samaaneea har har man bhaaeaa |1|
The Gurmukhs are intuitively absorbed into the Lord. The Lord is pleasing to their minds. ||1||
ਸਸੁਰੈ ਪੇਈਐ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਸੈ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sasurai peeeai pir vasai kahu kit bidh paaeeai |
Our Husband Lord dwells in this world, and in the world beyond. Tell me, how can He be found?
ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aap niranjan alakh hai aape melaaeeai |1| rahaau |
The Immaculate Lord Himself is unseen. He unites us with Himself. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
aape hee prabh dehi mat har naam dhiaaeeai |
God Himself bestows wisdom; meditate on the Name of the Lord.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
vaddabhaagee satigur milai mukh amrit paaeeai |
By great good fortune, one meets the True Guru, who places the Ambrosial Nectar in the mouth.
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥
haumai dubidhaa binas jaae sahaje sukh samaaeeai |
When egotism and duality are eradicated, one intuitively merges in peace.
ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਨਾਇ ਲਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
sabh aape aap varatadaa aape naae laaeeai |2|
He Himself is All-pervading; He Himself links us to His Name. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਗਰਬਿ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਇਆਣੇ ॥
manamukh garab na paaeo agiaan eaane |
The self-willed manmukhs, in their arrogant pride, do not find God; they are so ignorant and foolish!
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੇ ॥
satigur sevaa naa kareh fir fir pachhutaane |
They do not serve the True Guru, and in the end, they regret and repent, over and over again.
ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਵਾਸੁ ਪਾਇਦੇ ਗਰਭੇ ਗਲਿ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
garabh jonee vaas paaeide garabhe gal jaane |
They are cast into the womb to be reincarnated, and within the womb, they rot.
ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਤੇ ਏਵੈ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
mere karate evai bhaavadaa manamukh bharamaane |3|
As it pleases my Creator Lord, the self-willed manmukhs wander around lost. ||3||
ਮੇਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਇਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
merai har prabh lekh likhaaeaa dhur masatak pooraa |
My Lord God inscribed the full pre-ordained destiny upon the forehead.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
har har naam dhiaaeaa bhettiaa gur sooraa |
When one meets the Great and Courageous Guru, one meditates on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਬੀਰਾ ॥
meraa pitaa maataa har naam hai har bandhap beeraa |
The Lord's Name is my mother and father; the Lord is my relative and brother.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕੀਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੭॥੩੭॥
har har bakhas milaae prabh jan naanak keeraa |4|3|17|37|
O Lord, Har, Har, please forgive me and unite me with Yourself. Servant Nanak is a lowly worm. ||4||3||17||37||
