Salok, Fourth Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਘਾਲੇ ॥

satigur kee sevaa niramalee niramal jan hoe su sevaa ghaale |

Service to the True Guru is immaculate and pure; those humble beings who are pure perform this service.

ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਓਇ ਆਪੇ ਸਚੈ ਵਖਿ ਕਢੇ ਜਜਮਾਲੇ ॥

jin andar kapatt vikaar jhootth oe aape sachai vakh kadte jajamaale |

Those who have deceit, corruption and falsehood within - the True Lord Himself casts them out like lepers.

ਸਚਿਆਰ ਸਿਖ ਬਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ਘਾਲਨਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਨ ਲਭਨੀ ਕਿਤੈ ਥਾਇ ਭਾਲੇ ॥

sachiaar sikh beh satigur paas ghaalan koorriaar na labhanee kitai thaae bhaale |

The truthful Sikhs sit by the True Guru's side and serve Him. The false ones search, but find no place of rest.

ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੁਖਾਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਮੁਹ ਭਲੇਰੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਦਯਿ ਗਾਲੇ ॥

jinaa satigur kaa aakhiaa sukhaavai naahee tinaa muh bhalere fireh day gaale |

Those who are not pleased with the Words of the True Guru - their faces are cursed, and they wander around, condemned by God.

ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ਸੇ ਕਿਚਰਕੁ ਵੇਰਾਈਅਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥

jin andar preet nahee har keree se kicharak veraaeean manamukh betaale |

Those who do not have the Love of the Lord within their hearts - how long can those demonic, self-willed manmukhs be consoled?

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁ ਥਾਇ ਰਖੈ ਓਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ਨਾਲੇ ॥

satigur no milai su aapanaa man thaae rakhai ohu aap varatai aapanee vath naale |

One who meets the True Guru, keeps his mind in its own place; he spends only his own assets.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਵਖਿ ਕਢੈ ਠਗਵਾਲੇ ॥੧॥

jan naanak ikanaa gur mel sukh devai ik aape vakh kadtai tthagavaale |1|

O servant Nanak, some are united with the Guru; to some, the Lord grants peace, while others - deceitful cheats - suffer in isolation. ||1||
