ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਐਸੋ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਪੇਖਨਾ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਪਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥
aiso ihu sansaar pekhanaa rehan na koaoo peehai re |
This world is a drama; no one can remain here.
ਸੂਧੇ ਸੂਧੇ ਰੇਗਿ ਚਲਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਨਤਰ ਕੁਧਕਾ ਦਿਵਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
soodhe soodhe reg chalahu tum natar kudhakaa diveehai re |1| rahaau |
Walk the straight path; otherwise, you will be pushed around. ||1||Pause||
ਬਾਰੇ ਬੂਢੇ ਤਰੁਨੇ ਭਈਆ ਸਭਹੂ ਜਮੁ ਲੈ ਜਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥
baare boodte tarune bheea sabhahoo jam lai jeehai re |
The children, the young and the old, O Siblings of Destiny, will be taken away by the Messenger of Death.
ਮਾਨਸੁ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਮੂਸਾ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੀਚੁ ਬਿਲਈਆ ਖਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
maanas bapuraa moosaa keeno meech bileea kheehai re |1|
The Lord has made the poor man a mouse, and the cat of Death is eating him up. ||1||
ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਅਰੁ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਮਨਈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥
dhanavantaa ar niradhan manee taa kee kachhoo na kaanee re |
It gives no special consideration to either the rich or the poor.
ਰਾਜਾ ਪਰਜਾ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰੈ ਐਸੋ ਕਾਲੁ ਬਡਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥
raajaa parajaa sam kar maarai aiso kaal baddaanee re |2|
The king and his subjects are equally killed; such is the power of Death. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਏ ਤਿਨੑ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥
har ke sevak jo har bhaae tina kee kathaa niraaree re |
Those who are pleasing to the Lord are the servants of the Lord; their story is unique and singular.
ਆਵਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਮਰਤੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੰਗਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੩॥
aaveh na jaeh na kabahoo marate paarabraham sangaaree re |3|
They do not come and go, and they never die; they remain with the Supreme Lord God. ||3||
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਲਛਿਮੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਹੈ ਤਜਹੁ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥
putr kalatr lachhimee maaeaa ihai tajahu jeea jaanee re |
Know this in your soul, that by renouncing your children, spouse, wealth and property
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮਿਲਿਹੈ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥
kehat kabeer sunahu re santahu milihai saarigapaanee re |4|1|
- says Kabeer, listen, O Saints - you shall be united with the Lord of the Universe. ||4||1||
