ਲੋਕ ਵੇਦ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਖਦਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ।

lok ved sun aakhadaa sun sun giaanee giaan vakhaanai |

The so - called knowledgeable persons having listened to the Vedas as their knowledge about the world on the basis of hears

ਸੁਰਗ ਲੋਕ ਸਣੁ ਮਾਤ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਤ ਪਤਾਲੁ ਨਾ ਜਾਣੈ ।

surag lok san maat lok sun sun saat pataal naa jaanai |

The also learn about heavens, mother earth and all the seven odds, but still they donot know the real truth.

ਭੂਤ ਭਵਿਖ ਨ ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤ ਹੋਏ ਹੈਰਾਣੈ ।

bhoot bhavikh na varatamaan aad madh ant hoe hairaanai |

Neither do they hand the past future and the present, nor the mystery of the beginning middle, but are simply wonderstruck

ਉਤਮ ਮਧਮ ਨੀਚ ਹੋਇ ਸਮਝਿ ਨ ਸਕਣਿ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣੈ ।

autam madham neech hoe samajh na sakan choj viddaanai |

Through their classifications medium and low varnas they cannot understand the great play.

ਰਜ ਗੁਣ ਤਮ ਗੁਣ ਆਖੀਐ ਸਤਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਆਖਾਣ ਵਖਾਣੈ ।

raj gun tam gun aakheeai sat gun sun aakhaan vakhaanai |

Engrossed in actions (rajoguni), inertia (tamoguni) and tranquillity (satoguni) also talk and listen,

ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕਰਮ ਸਿ ਭਰਮਦੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨ ਸਿਞਾਣੈ ।

man bach karam si bharamade saadhasangat satigur na siyaanai |

But without understanding the holy nation and the true Guru, they wander through the activities of their eech and actions.

ਫਕੜੁ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਣੈ ।੧੬।

fakarr hindoo musalamaanai |16|

Thus the (classifications of) Muslims and Hindus
