Aasaavaree, Fifth Mehl:

ਏਕਾ ਓਟ ਗਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥

ekaa ott gahu haan |

Grab hold of the Support of the One Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥

gur kaa sabad kahu haan |

Chant the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਆਗਿਆ ਸਤਿ ਸਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥

aagiaa sat sahu haan |

Submit to the Order of the True Lord.

ਮਨਹਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਲਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥

maneh nidhaan lahu haan |

Receive the treasure in your mind.

ਸੁਖਹਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sukheh samaaeeai mere manaa |1| rahaau |

Thus you shall be absorbed in peace, O my mind. ||1||Pause||

ਜੀਵਤ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥

jeevat jo marai haan |

One who is dead while yet alive,

ਦੁਤਰੁ ਸੋ ਤਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥

dutar so tarai haan |

crosses over the terrifying world-ocean.

ਸਭ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥

sabh kee ren hoe haan |

One who becomes the dust of all

ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਹਉ ਸੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥

nirbhau khau soe haan |

he alone is called fearless.

ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥

mitte andesiaa haan |

His anxieties are removed

ਸੰਤ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥

sant upadesiaa mere manaa |1|

by the Teachings of the Saints, O my mind. ||1||

ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਾਂ ॥

jis jan naam sukh haan |

That humble being, who takes happiness in the Naam, the Name of the Lord

ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਾਂ ॥

tis nikatt na kade dukh haan |

pain never draws near him.

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨੇ ਹਾਂ ॥

jo har har jas sune haan |

One who listens to the Praise of the Lord, Har, Har,

ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਹਾਂ ॥

sabh ko tis mane haan |

is obeyed by all men.

ਸਫਲੁ ਸੁ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥

safal su aaeaa haan |

How fortunate it is that he came into the world;

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੬੦॥

naanak prabh bhaaeaa mere manaa |2|4|160|

Nanak, he is pleasing to God, O my mind. ||2||4||160||
