Goojaree, First Mehl:

ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਪਰਹਿ ਸੁਮਾਰ ॥

kavan kavan jaacheh prabh daate taa ke ant na pareh sumaar |

Those who beg of God the Great Giver - their numbers cannot be counted.

ਜੈਸੀ ਭੂਖ ਹੋਇ ਅਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੧॥

jaisee bhookh hoe abh antar toon samarath sach devanahaar |1|

You, Almighty True Lord, fulfill the desires within their hearts. ||1||

ਐ ਜੀ ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਅਧਾਰ ॥

ai jee jap tap sanjam sach adhaar |

O Dear Lord, chanting, deep meditation, self-discipline and truth are my foundations.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

har har naam dehi sukh paaeeai teree bhagat bhare bhanddaar |1| rahaau |

Bless me with Your Name, Lord, that I may find peace. Your devotional worship is a treasure over-flowing. ||1||Pause||

ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ਏਕਾ ਏਕੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥

sun samaadh raheh liv laage ekaa ekee sabad beechaar |

Some remain absorbed in Samaadhi, their minds fixed lovingly on the One Lord; they reflect only on the Word of the Shabad.

ਜਲੁ ਥਲੁ ਧਰਣਿ ਗਗਨੁ ਤਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥੨॥

jal thal dharan gagan teh naahee aape aap keea karataar |2|

In that state, there is no water, land, earth or sky; only the Creator Lord Himself exists. ||2||

ਨਾ ਤਦਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨੁ ਨ ਛਾਇਆ ਨਾ ਸੂਰਜ ਚੰਦ ਨ ਜੋਤਿ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

naa tad maaeaa magan na chhaaeaa naa sooraj chand na jot apaar |

There is no intoxication of Maya there, and no shadow, nor the infinite light of the sun or the moon.

ਸਰਬ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਲੋਚਨ ਅਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਏਕਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸਾਰ ॥੩॥

sarab drisatt lochan abh antar ekaa nadar su tribhavan saar |3|

The eyes within the mind which see everything - with one glance, they see the three worlds. ||3||

ਪਵਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸ ਅਕਾਰ ॥

pavan paanee agan tin keea brahamaa bisan mahes akaar |

He created air, water and fire, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva - the whole creation.

ਸਰਬੇ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੪॥

sarabe jaachik toon prabh daataa daat kare apunai beechaar |4|

All are beggars; You alone are the Great Giver, God. You give Your gifts according to Your own considerations. ||4||

ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਇਕ ਦੇਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥

kott tetees jaacheh prabh naaeik dede tott naahee bhanddaar |

Three hundred thirty million gods beg of God the Master; even as He gives, His treasures are never exhausted.

ਊਂਧੈ ਭਾਂਡੈ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੀਧੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਰੈ ਨਿਹਾਰ ॥੫॥

aoondhai bhaanddai kachh na samaavai seedhai amrit parai nihaar |5|

Nothing can be contained in a vessel turned upside-down; Ambrosial Nectar pours into the upright one. ||5||

ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਜਾਚਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਜੈਕਾਰ ॥

sidh samaadhee antar jaacheh ridh sidh jaach kareh jaikaar |

The Siddhas in Samaadhi beg for wealth and miracles, and proclaim His victory.

ਜੈਸੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਹੋਇ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੈਸੋ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥੬॥

jaisee piaas hoe man antar taiso jal deveh parakaar |6|

As is the thirst within their minds, so is the water which You give to them. ||6||

ਬਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਭੇਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੁਰਾਰ ॥

badde bhaag gur seveh apunaa bhed naahee guradev muraar |

The most fortunate ones serve their Guru; there is no difference between the Divine Guru and the Lord.

ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਾਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹੈ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੭॥

taa kau kaal naahee jam johai boojheh antar sabad beechaar |7|

The Messenger of Death cannot see those who come to realize within their minds the contemplative meditation of the Word of the Shabad. ||7||

ਅਬ ਤਬ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਮਾਗਉ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੀਜੈ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥

ab tab avar na maagau har peh naam niranjan deejai piaar |

I shall never ask anything else of the Lord; please, bless me with the Love of Your Immaculate Name.

ਨਾਨਕ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਲੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੮॥੨॥

naanak chaatrik amrit jal maagai har jas deejai kirapaa dhaar |8|2|

Nanak, the song-bird, begs for the Ambrosial Water; O Lord, shower Your Mercy upon him, and bless him with Your Praise. ||8||2||
