Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:

ਪਰ ਹਰਨਾ ਲੋਭੁ ਝੂਠ ਨਿੰਦ ਇਵ ਹੀ ਕਰਤ ਗੁਦਾਰੀ ॥

par haranaa lobh jhootth nind iv hee karat gudaaree |

Stealing the property of others, acting in greed, lying and slandering - in these ways, he passes his life.

ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਆਸ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੀਠੀ ਇਹ ਟੇਕ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਾਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

mrig trisanaa aas mithiaa meetthee ih ttek maneh saadhaaree |1|

He places his hopes in false mirages, believing them to be sweet; this is the support he installs in his mind. ||1||

ਸਾਕਤ ਕੀ ਆਵਰਦਾ ਜਾਇ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾਰੀ ॥

saakat kee aavaradaa jaae brithaaree |

The faithless cynic passes his life uselessly.

ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਗਦ ਕੇ ਭਾਰ ਮੂਸਾ ਟੂਕਿ ਗਵਾਵਤ ਕਾਮਿ ਨਹੀ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jaise kaagad ke bhaar moosaa ttook gavaavat kaam nahee gaavaaree | rahaau |

He is like the mouse, gnawing away at the pile of paper, making it useless to the poor wretch. ||Pause||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਇਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੁਟਕਾਰੀ ॥

kar kirapaa paarabraham suaamee ih bandhan chhuttakaaree |

Have mercy on me, O Supreme Lord God, and release me from these bonds.

ਬੂਡਤ ਅੰਧ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਢਤ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਸੰਗਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੧੧॥੪੨॥

booddat andh naanak prabh kaadtat saadh janaa sangaaree |2|11|42|

The blind are sinking, O Nanak; God saves them, uniting them with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||11||42||
