ਤਹਾ ਪਹੂਚਨ ਕੋ ਕਛੂ ਪੈਯਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਉਪਾਇ ॥

tahaa pahoochan ko kachhoo paiyat nahee upaae |

‘There is no way to go in,

ਚਲਹੁ ਦੇਗ ਮੈ ਬੈਠਿ ਕੈ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਲਖ︀ਯੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੩॥

chalahu deg mai baitth kai jaa te lakhayo na jaae |13|

‘You must come hidden in a cooking-vessel so that no one can observe.(13)

ਬੇਗਮ ਜਬ ਤੇ ਤੁਮੈ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

begam jab te tumai nihaariyo |

ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਸਭ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

khaan paan sabh kachh bisaariyo |

‘Since the Rani saw you, she has abandoned eating and drinking.

ਲਗਨ ਲਗੈ ਬਿਹਬਲ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥

lagan lagai bihabal hvai gee |

ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਛਾਡਿ ਦਿਵਾਨੀ ਭਈ ॥੧੪॥

grih ko chhaadd divaanee bhee |14|

‘In this devotion, she has lost her senses, and by renouncing to live, she is getting mad.(14)

ਸੀਸ ਫੂਲ ਸਿਰ ਪਰ ਜਬ ਧਾਰੈ ॥

sees fool sir par jab dhaarai |

ਕੋਟਿ ਸੂਰ ਜਨੁ ਚੜੇ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥

kott soor jan charre savaarai |

‘With the bouquet of flowers upon her head, she radiates like the Sun.

ਜਬ ਬਿਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਰੀ ਚਬਾਵੈ ॥

jab bihas kai biree chabaavai |

ਦੇਖੀ ਪੀਕ ਕੰਠ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧੫॥

dekhee peek kantth meh jaavai |15|

‘When, smiling, she swallows the juice of beetle-nut, it glorifies her throat.(15)

ਹਜਰਤਿ ਤਿਹ ਪੂਛੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਉਚਰਤ ਬੈਨ ॥

hajarat tih poochhe binaa kachhoo na ucharat bain |

‘The Raja never undertakes any tasks without her consent.

ਲਾਲ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਪਾਲ ਮਨ ਹੇਰਿ ਬਾਲ ਕੇ ਨੈਨ ॥੧੬॥

laal bhe bisapaal man her baal ke nain |16|

‘Looking into her eyes, even the Cupid starts blushing.(16)

ਤਾ ਕੋ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਰੂਪ ਲਖਿ ਪੁਲਿਕਿ ਪਸੀਜ੍ਰਯੋ ਅੰਗ ॥

taa ko tumaro roop lakh pulik paseejrayo ang |

‘After having your vision, her body is drenched in sweat,

ਬੇਸੰਭਾਰ ਭੂਅ ਪੈ ਗਿਰੀ ਜਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਡਸ੍ਰਯੋ ਭੁਜੰਗ ॥੧੭॥

besanbhaar bhooa pai giree jan kar ddasrayo bhujang |17|

‘And she drops down on the floor as if a reptile has bitten her.’(17)

ਖਾਨ ਸੁਨਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਬਾਤ ਕੌ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਭਯੋ ਖੁਸਾਲ ॥

khaan sunat triy baat kau man meh bhayo khusaal |

On listening to the oration of the woman, Khan was very mush excited,

ਜ︀ਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਕਹੌਂ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲੌਂ ਮਿਲੌਂ ਜਾਇ ਤਤਕਾਲ ॥੧੮॥

jayo tum kahauan tivai chalauan milauan jaae tatakaal |18|

(And said) ‘I will do whatever you say and will go to meet her.’(18)

ਯਹ ਜੜ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਹਰਖਯੋ ॥

yeh jarr baat sunat harakhayo |

ਦੁਰਬਲ ਹੁਤੋ ਪੁਸਟ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਯੋ ॥

durabal huto pusatt hvai gayo |

The fool, after heeding to all that, became very happy and got ready to proceed,

ਜੌ ਤੁਮ ਕਹੌ ਸੁ ਕਾਜ ਕਮੈਯੈ ॥

jau tum kahau su kaaj kamaiyai |

ਬੇਗਮ ਸੀ ਭੋਗਨ ਕਹ ਪੈਯੈ ॥੧੯॥

begam see bhogan keh paiyai |19|

‘What ever the way you suggest, I will do and make love with the Rani.(19)

ਹਜਰਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਲਖਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੌ ਪਾਗ ॥

hajarat jaa kee moorat lakh rahiyo prem sau paag |

‘With whose beauty, the Emperor is enchanted, she is enmeshed in my love,

ਸੋ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਅਟਕਤ ਭਈ ਧੰਨ︀ਯ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਭਾਗ ॥੨੦॥

so ham so attakat bhee dhanay hamaare bhaag |20|

‘I think it my greatest luck and honour.’(20)

ਯਹ ਸੁਨਿ ਭੇਦ ਚਿਤ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖ︀ਯੋ ॥

yeh sun bhed chit meh raakhayo |

ਔਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਤਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਨ ਭਾਖ︀ਯੋ ॥

aauar mitr tan pragatt na bhaakhayo |

He kept the secret in his heart and did not divulge to any friend.

ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਦੇਗ ਮੈ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਛਯੋ ॥

pratham deg mai basatr bichhayo |

ਤਾ ਮੈ ਬੈਠਿ ਆਪੁ ਪੁਨਿ ਗਯੋ ॥੨੧॥

taa mai baitth aap pun gayo |21|

He spread a sheet in the cooking-vessel and, then, took his seat in there.(21)

ਖਾਨ ਤਿਹਾਰੌ ਰੂਪ ਲਖਿ ਬੇਗਮ ਰਹੀ ਲੁਭਾਇ ॥

khaan tihaarau roop lakh begam rahee lubhaae |

(And he was told again) ‘Khan, the Begum has been bewitched by your looks,

ਸਾਹਿਜਹਾ ਕੋ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਤੋ ਪਰ ਗਈ ਬਿਕਾਇ ॥੨੨॥

saahijahaa ko chhaadd kai to par gee bikaae |22|

‘And sacrificing the Emperor Shah Jehan, she has sold herself to you.(22)

ਤੌਨ ਪਠਾਨ ਦੇਗ ਮਹਿ ਡਾਰਿਸ ॥

tauan patthaan deg meh ddaaris |

ਲੈ ਹਜਰਤਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਓਰ ਸਿਧਾਰਸ ॥

lai hajarat grih or sidhaaras |

She placed him in the cooking-vessel and took him to the palace of the Emperor.

ਦੇਖਤ ਲੋਗ ਸਭੈ ਤਹ ਜਾਵੈ ॥

dekhat log sabhai teh jaavai |

ਵਾ ਕੌ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨੩॥

vaa kau bhed na koaoo paavai |23|

People saw that being taken there but no one could suspect the secret.(23)

ਲੈ ਬੇਗਮ ਕੇ ਪਾਸ ਉਤਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

lai begam ke paas utaariyo |

ਬੇਗਮ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਦਾਰਿਦ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

begam taa ko daarid maariyo |

She (maid) got it replaced near the Rani, and the Rani made her wealthy.

ਸਖੀ ਭੇਜ ਪਤਿ ਲਯੋ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥

sakhee bhej pat layo bulaaee |

ਕਾਨ ਲਾਗਿ ਕੈ ਬਾਤ ਜਤਾਈ ॥੨੪॥

kaan laag kai baat jataaee |24|

She sent her to call her husband and revealed the secret in his ears.(24)

ਸਖੀ ਭੇਜਿ ਪਾਤਸਾਹ ਕੌ ਲੀਨੋ ਨਿਕਟ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥

sakhee bhej paatasaah kau leeno nikatt bulaae |

After sending the maid she had called the Emperor,

ਜੋ ਚਾਹਹੁ ਸੋ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ਦੀਨੀ ਦੇਗ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੨੫॥

jo chaahahu so keejiyai deenee deg dikhaae |25|

And, after displaying him the cooking-vessel, had asked him to take whatever action he liked.(25)

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Raamkalee, Third Mehl:

ਨਾਮੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਈ ॥੧॥

naam khajaanaa gur te paaeaa tripat rahe aaghaaee |1|

Receiving the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, from the Guru, I remain satisfied and fulfilled. ||1||

ਸੰਤਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

santahu guramukh mukat gat paaee |

O Saints, the Gurmukhs attain the state of liberation.

ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ek naam vasiaa ghatt antar poore kee vaddiaaee |1| rahaau |

The One Name abides deep within my heart; such is the glorious greatness of the Perfect Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਦੇਦਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਬਾਈ ॥੨॥

aape karataa aape bhugataa dedaa rijak sabaaee |2|

He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer. He Himself gives sustenance to all. ||2||

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥

jo kichh karanaa so kar rahiaa avar na karanaa jaaee |3|

Whatever He wants to do, He is doing; no one else can do anything. ||3||

ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥

aape saaje srisatt upaae sir sir dhandhai laaee |4|

He Himself fashions and creates the creation; He links each and every person to their task. ||4||

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੫॥

tiseh sarevahu taa sukh paavahu satigur mel milaaee |5|

If you serve Him, then you will find peace; the True Guru will unite you in His Union. ||5||

ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥੬॥

aapanaa aap aap upaae alakh na lakhanaa jaaee |6|

The Lord Himself creates Himself; the Unseen Lord cannot be seen. ||6||

ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਆਪੇ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਈ ॥੭॥

aape maar jeevaale aape tis no til na tamaaee |7|

He Himself kills, and brings back to life; He does not have even an iota of greed. ||7||

ਇਕਿ ਦਾਤੇ ਇਕਿ ਮੰਗਤੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਆਪੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਈ ॥੮॥

eik daate ik mangate keete aape bhagat karaaee |8|

Some are made givers, and some are made beggars; He Himself inspires us to devotional worship. ||8||

ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਸਚੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੯॥

se vaddabhaagee jinee eko jaataa sache rahe samaaee |9|

Those who know the One Lord are very fortunate; they remain absorbed in the True Lord. ||9||

ਆਪਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੦॥

aap saroop siaanaa aape keemat kehan na jaaee |10|

He Himself is beautiful, He Himself is wise and clever; His worth cannot be expressed. ||10||

ਆਪੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥੧੧॥

aape dukh sukh paae antar aape bharam bhulaaee |11|

He Himself infuses pain and pleasure; He Himself makes them wander around in doubt. ||11||

ਵਡਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਨਿਗੁਰੀ ਅੰਧ ਫਿਰੈ ਲੋਕਾਈ ॥੧੨॥

vaddaa daataa guramukh jaataa niguree andh firai lokaaee |12|

The Great Giver is revealed to the Gurmukh; without the Guru, the world wanders in darkness. ||12||

ਜਿਨੀ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧੩॥

jinee chaakhiaa tinaa saad aaeaa satigur boojh bujhaaee |13|

Those who taste, enjoy the flavor; the True Guru imparts this understanding. ||13||

ਇਕਨਾ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧੪॥

eikanaa naavahu aap bhulaae ikanaa guramukh dee bujhaaee |14|

Some, the Lord causes to forget and lose the Name; others become Gurmukh, and are granted this understanding. ||14||

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧੫॥

sadaa sadaa saalaahihu santahu tis dee vaddee vaddiaaee |15|

Forever and ever, praise the Lord, O Saints; how glorious is His greatness! ||15||

ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਰਿ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੧੬॥

tis bin avar na koee raajaa kar tapaavas banat banaaee |16|

There is no other King except Him; He administers justice, as He has made it. ||16||

ਨਿਆਉ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਸਦ ਸਾਚਾ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਨਾਈ ॥੧੭॥

niaau tisai kaa hai sad saachaa virale hukam manaaee |17|

His justice is always True; how rare are those who accept His Command. ||17||

ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੧੮॥

tis no praanee sadaa dhiaavahu jin guramukh banat banaaee |18|

O mortal, meditate forever on the Lord, who has made the Gurmukh in His making. ||18||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੀਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਈ ॥੧੯॥

satigur bhettai so jan seejhai jis hiradai naam vasaaee |19|

That humble being who meets with the True Guru is fulfilled; the Naam abides in his heart. ||19||

ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥੨੦॥

sachaa aap sadaa hai saachaa baanee sabad sunaaee |20|

The True Lord is Himself forever True; He announces His Bani, the Word of His Shabad. ||20||

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਣਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਥਾਈ ॥੨੧॥੫॥੧੪॥

naanak sun vekh rahiaa visamaad meraa prabh raviaa srab thaaee |21|5|14|

Nanak is wonderstruck, hearing and seeing His Lord; my God is all-pervading, everywhere. ||21||5||14||
