ਉਠਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਭੇਸ ਧਰ ਗਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਲੀ ਹਾਥ ॥
autth raajaa triy bhes dhar geh kripaan lee haath |
Raja got up and disguised him as a woman and kept sword in his hand.
ਰਾਨੀ ਯੋ ਜਾਨੀ ਜਿਯਹਿ ਆਵਤ ਚੇਰੀ ਸਾਥ ॥੫॥
raanee yo jaanee jiyeh aavat cheree saath |5|
Rani thought some maid was accompanying her.(5)

ਪਾਇਨ ਕੋ ਖਟਕੋ ਨਹਿ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥

ਕਰ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਖੜਗ ਕਹਿ ਧਰਿਯੋ ॥
kar meh kaadt kharrag keh dhariyo |
He walked stealthily behind but kept sword in his hand.
ਭੋਗ ਕਰਤ ਜਬ ਤਿਨੈ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
bhog karat jab tinai nihaariyo |
ਇਹੈ ਚਿਤ ਮਹਿ ਚਰਿਤ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੬॥
eihai chit meh charit bichaariyo |6|
When she initiated love-making, he resolved in his mind.(6)
ਰਮਤ ਜਾਰ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਲਖ ਪਾਈ ॥
ramat jaar so triy lakh paaee |
ਕਰ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕੰਪਾਈ ॥
kar meh kaadt kripaan kanpaaee |
As soon as she had clung to the friend to make love, he took out his sword,
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਹਾਥ ਕਰਿ ਕੁਅਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
duhoon haath kar kuat prahaariyo |
ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਟੂਕ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੭॥
duhoonan chaar ttook kar ddaariyo |7|
And, holding it in both the hands, he struck and cut both of them into four pieces.(7)

ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕਲਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਰ ਜੁਤ ਹਨਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲਯੋ ਉਠਾਇ ॥
chandr kalaa ko jaar jut han nrip layo utthaae |
After killing Chandra Kala along with her lover, he picked her up,
ਵੈਸਹ ਆਪਨੀ ਖਾਟ ਤਰ ਰਾਖਤ ਭਯੋ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੮॥
vaisah aapanee khaatt tar raakhat bhayo banaae |8|
And placed her under his bed.(8)
ਧਰਿ ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਕੋ ਖਾਟ ਤਰ ਘਰੀ ਏਕ ਦੋ ਟਾਰਿ ॥
dhar duhoonan ko khaatt tar gharee ek do ttaar |
Keeping them under the bed for some time,
ਮਾਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਉਠਾ ਕਢੇ ਕੋਪ ਕਰਵਾਰ ॥੯॥
maar maar keh kai utthaa kadte kop karavaar |9|
He took out sword and shouted, ‘Kill him, kill him.’(9)
ਚੋਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਰਤ ਹੁਤੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੇ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ਘਾਇ ॥
chor mohi maarat huto triy ke laagiyo ghaae |
‘A thief had come to kill me, but (he) hit my wife instead.
ਕਾਢਿ ਭਗੌਤੀ ਤੁਰਤੁ ਮੈ ਯਾ ਕੋ ਦਯੋ ਸੁ ਘਾਇ ॥੧੦॥
kaadt bhagauatee turat mai yaa ko dayo su ghaae |10|
‘Hurriedly I drew my sword out and killed him too.’(10)

ਜਬੈ ਲੋਗ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪੂਛਨ ਆਏ ॥
jabai log nrip poochhan aae |
ਯਹੈ ਤਿਨੌ ਸੌ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
yahai tinau sau bachan sunaae |
When people came to inquire, then the Raja narrated the same story.
ਜਬ ਤਸਕਰ ਮੁਹਿ ਘਾਵ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
jab tasakar muhi ghaav chalaayo |
ਹੌ ਬਚਿ ਗਯੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕੌ ਘਾਯੋ ॥੧੧॥
hau bach gayo triyaa kau ghaayo |11|
‘The thief raided upon me, I escaped but my wife was struck.’(11)
ਜਬ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਘਾਵ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕੇ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ॥
jab drirr ghaav triyaa ke laagiyo |
ਤਬ ਹੌ ਕਾਢਿ ਭਗੌਤੀ ਜਾਗਿਯੋ ॥
tab hau kaadt bhagauatee jaagiyo |
‘When the wife was fatally hurt, I took my sword out,
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੇ ਨੇਹ ਕੋਪ ਮਨ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
triy ke neh kop man dhaariyo |
ਚੋਰਹਿ ਠੌਰ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੨॥
choreh tthauar maar hee ddaariyo |12|
‘And considering my love for the woman, I slew him.’(12)

ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਪੁਰ ਸਭ ਕਹੈ ਧੰਨਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਵ ਹੀਯ ॥
nar naaree pur sabh kahai dhan raajaa tav heey |
Every body in the town praised Raja,
ਬਦਲੋ ਲੀਨੋ ਬਾਮ ਕੋ ਚੋਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਯੋ ਜੀਯ ॥੧੩॥
badalo leeno baam ko chor sanghaariyo jeey |13|
Because he had killed the thief to revenge the death of the lady.(13)(1)

ਬੰਗ ਦੇਸ ਬੰਗੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਰਾਜਾ ॥

ਸਭ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਤਾਜਾ ॥
sabh hee raajan ko sir taajaa |
In the country of Bang, Raja Bangeswar ruled and he was the Raja of the Rajas.
ਕਿਤਕ ਦਿਨਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਰ ਗਯੋ ॥
kitak dinan raajaa mar gayo |
ਸਭ ਜਗ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਮਤੀ ਕੋ ਭਯੋ ॥੧॥
sabh jag indr matee ko bhayo |1|
After some times Raja died and all the state went under the rule of Inder Mati.(1)

ਸਤਗੁਰ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
satagur deaa karahu har melahu mere preetam praan har raaeaa |
O True Guru, please be kind, and unite me with the Lord. My Sovereign Lord is the Beloved of my breath of life.
ਹਮ ਚੇਰੀ ਹੋਇ ਲਗਹ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
ham cheree hoe lagah gur charanee jin har prabh maarag panth dikhaaeaa |1|
I am a slave; I fall at the Guru's feet. He has shown me the Path, the Way to my Lord God. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
raam mai har har naam man bhaaeaa |
The Name of my Lord, Har, Har, is pleasing to my mind.
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਬੇਲੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਖਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mai har bin avar na koee belee meraa pitaa maataa har sakhaaeaa |1| rahaau |
I have no friend except the Lord; the Lord is my father, my mother, my companion. ||1||Pause||
ਮੇਰੇ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਨ ਰਹਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ ਮਰਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
mere ik khin praan na raheh bin preetam bin dekhe mareh meree maaeaa |
My breath of life will not survive for an instant, without my Beloved; unless I see Him, I will die, O my mother!
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਆਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
dhan dhan vaddabhaag gur saranee aae har gur mil darasan paaeaa |2|
Blessed, blessed is my great, high destiny, that I have come to the Guru's Sanctuary. Meeting with the Guru, I have obtained the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||2||
ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਸੂਝੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਉ ਜਪਾਇਆ ॥
mai avar na koee soojhai boojhai man har jap jpau japaaeaa |
I do not know or understand any other within my mind; I meditate and chant the Lord's Chant.
ਨਾਮਹੀਣ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਨਕਟੇ ਤਿਨ ਘਸਿ ਘਸਿ ਨਕ ਵਢਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
naamaheen fireh se nakatte tin ghas ghas nak vadtaaeaa |3|
Those who lack the Naam, wander in shame; their noses are chopped off, bit by bit. ||3||
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਵਾਲਿ ਲੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
mo kau jagajeevan jeevaal lai suaamee rid antar naam vasaaeaa |
O Life of the World, rejuvenate me! O my Lord and Master, enshrine Your Name deep within my heart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥
naanak guroo guroo hai pooraa mil satigur naam dhiaaeaa |4|5|
O Nanak, perfect is the Guru, the Guru. Meeting the True Guru, I meditate on the Naam. ||4||5||

ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਵਡਾ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
satagur daataa vaddaa vadd purakh hai jit miliai har ur dhaare |
The True Guru, the Great Giver, is the Great, Primal Being; meeting Him, the Lord is enshrined within the heart.
ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
jeea daan gur poorai deea har amrit naam samaare |1|
The Perfect Guru has granted me the life of the soul; I meditate in remembrance on the Ambrosial Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੰਠਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
raam gur har har naam kantth dhaare |
O Lord, the Guru has implanted the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, within my heart.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣੀ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
guramukh kathaa sunee man bhaaee dhan dhan vaddabhaag hamaare |1| rahaau |
As Gurmukh, I have heard His sermon, which pleases my mind; blessed, blessed is my great destiny. ||1||Pause||
ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪਾਰੇ ॥
kott kott tetees dhiaaveh taa kaa ant na paaveh paare |
Millions, three hundred thirty millions of gods meditate on Him, but they cannot find His end or limitation.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਾਮ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਪਸਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
hiradai kaam kaamanee maageh ridh maageh haath pasaare |2|
With sexual urges in their hearts, they beg for beautiful women; stretching out their hands, they beg for riches. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਜਪਿ ਜਪੁ ਵਡਾ ਵਡੇਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਖਉ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
har jas jap jap vaddaa vadderaa guramukh rkhau ur dhaare |
One who chants the Praises of the Lord is the greatest of the great; the Gurmukh keeps the Lord clasped to his heart.
ਜੇ ਵਡਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
je vaddabhaag hoveh taa japeeai har bhaujal paar utaare |3|
If one is blessed with high destiny, he meditates on the Lord, who carries him across the terrifying world-ocean. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਕੰਠਿ ਜਨ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
har jan nikatt nikatt har jan hai har raakhai kantth jan dhaare |
The Lord is close to His humble servant, and His humble servant is close to the Lord; He keeps His humble servant clasped to His Heart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੮॥
naanak pitaa maataa hai har prabh ham baarik har pratipaare |4|6|18|
O Nanak, the Lord God is our father and mother. I am His child; the Lord cherishes me. ||4||6||18||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਦੀਨ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਵਗਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਹੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
kirapaa karahu deen ke daate meraa gun avagan na beechaarahu koee |
Have mercy on me, O Generous Giver, Lord of the meek; please do not consider my merits and demerits.
ਮਾਟੀ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਧੋਪੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਣਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਏਹੀ ॥੧॥
maattee kaa kiaa dhopai suaamee maanas kee gat ehee |1|
How can dust be washed? O my Lord and Master, such is the state of mankind. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
mere man satigur sev sukh hoee |
O my mind, serve the True Guru, and be at peace.
ਜੋ ਇਛਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo ichhahu soee fal paavahu fir dookh na viaapai koee |1| rahaau |
Whatever you desire, you shall receive that reward, and you shall not be afflicted by pain any longer. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਚੇ ਭਾਡੇ ਸਾਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
kaache bhaadde saaj nivaaje antar jot samaaee |
He creates and adorns the earthen vessels; He infuses His Light within them.
ਜੈਸਾ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਹਮ ਤੈਸੀ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥੨॥
jaisaa likhat likhiaa dhur karatai ham taisee kirat kamaaee |2|
As is the destiny pre-ordained by the Creator, so are the deeds we do. ||2||
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਥਾਪਿ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਏਹੋ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
man tan thaap keea sabh apanaa eho aavan jaanaa |
He believes the mind and body are all his own; this is the cause of his coming and going.
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਸੋ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਅੰਧੁ ਲਪਟਾਣਾ ॥੩॥
jin deea so chit na aavai mohi andh lapattaanaa |3|
He does not think of the One who gave him these; he is blind, entangled in emotional attachment. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
jin keea soee prabh jaanai har kaa mehal apaaraa |
One who knows that God created him, reaches the Incomparable Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
bhagat karee har ke gun gaavaa naanak daas tumaaraa |4|1|
Worshipping the Lord, I sing His Glorious Praises. Nanak is Your slave. ||4||1||
