ਜਬ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਛੋਰਨ ਲਗਾ ਲੈ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਕਹ ਹਾਥ ॥
jab sandook chhoran lagaa lai kunjee keh haath |
When, taking the key in his hand, Banyia was going to open the box,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਾ ਬਚਨ ਪਿਯਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ॥੯॥
bahur triyaa aise kahaa bachan piyaa ke saath |9|
Then that woman said to her husband like this,(9)

ਦੁਹੂੰ ਹਾਥ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
duhoon haath taa ke sir maaree |
ਗਈ ਸਾਹੁ ਮਤਿ ਸਗਲ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
gee saahu mat sagal tihaaree |
While slapping on his head with her hands, ‘Have you lost your senses?
ਜੋ ਯਾ ਸੌ ਮੈ ਭੋਗ ਕਮੈਹੌ ॥
jo yaa sau mai bhog kamaihau |
ਤੌ ਤੌ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਹ ਬਾਤਿ ਬਤੈਹੌ ॥੧੦॥
tau tau kahu kih baat bataihau |10|
‘If I had made love with him, then would have I told you?’(10)

ਐਸੇ ਬਚਨ ਬਖਾਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਦਿਯਾ ਉਠਾਇ ॥
aise bachan bakhaan kar moorakh diyaa utthaae |
She talked with such a confidence that the idiot left her alone.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਸੌ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਖ ਉਪਜਾਇ ॥੧੧॥
bahur raae sau rat karee hridai harakh upajaae |11|
And then she took the Raja out and had heartfelt enjoyment with(11)
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੋ ਕੇਲ ਕਮਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕਹ ਦਯੋ ਪਠਾਇ ॥
nrip so kel kamaae kar grih keh dayo patthaae |
After taking ample of pleasure, she sent him to his house,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਸੁਖੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਪੁਰ ਬਸੀ ਸਾਹੁ ਲਯੋ ਗਰ ਲਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
bahur sukhee hvai pur basee saahu layo gar laae |12|
And then embraced the Banyia blissfully as well.(12)(1)

ਨੈਨੌ ਨਾਮ ਜਗਤ ਤਿਹ ਕਹੈ ॥
nainau naam jagat tih kahai |
One Jat, peasant used to live in Delhi. His name was Naino.
ਏਕ ਨਾਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਲਹਾਰੀ ॥
ek naar taa ke kalahaaree |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਰਹਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤੇ ਪ︀ਯਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
taa ko rehat praan te payaaree |1|
He had a quarrelsome wife whom he adored extremely.(1)
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਰਾਜ ਮਤੀ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
sree triy raaj matee tih naamaa |
ਨੈਨੌ ਨਾਮ ਜਟ ਕੀ ਬਾਮਾ ॥
nainau naam jatt kee baamaa |
The name of the wife of Naino Jat was Raj Mati.
ਸਹਰ ਜਹਾਨਾਬਾਦ ਬਸੈ ਵੈ ॥
sehar jahaanaabaad basai vai |
ਦਰਬਵਾਨ ਦੁਤਿ ਮਾਨ ਰਹੈ ਵੈ ॥੨॥
darabavaan dut maan rahai vai |2|
She lived in the city of Jehanbad; she was very rich and pretty.(2)
ਸੌਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
sauadaa kaaran taeh patthaayo |
ਏਕ ਰਪੈਯਾ ਹਾਥ ਦਿਵਾਯੋ ॥
ek rapaiyaa haath divaayo |
She was sent for shopping and was given a rupee in her hand.
ਏਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਕੋ ਜੋਗੀ ॥
ek huto tih tthaa ko jogee |
ਨਾਗੀ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਭੋਗੀ ॥੩॥
naagee kar naaree tin bhogee |3|
She met a Yogi, who made her naked and had sex with her.(3)

ਛੋਰਿ ਗਾਠਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਸਿਖਨ ਰੁਪਯਾ ਲਯੋ ਚੁਰਾਇ ॥
chhor gaatth taa ke sikhan rupayaa layo churaae |
His disciples opened the knot (of the scarf) and stole her rupee,
ਛਾਰਿ ਬਾਧਿ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਧਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਠੌਰ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੪॥
chhaar baadh taa mai dharee taa kee tthauar banaae |4|
And in its place, tied down some dust.(4)

ਸੌਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੁਨਿ ਘਰ ਧਾਈ ॥
sauadaa kaaran pun ghar dhaaee |
After making love the woman got worried about the shopping.
ਲੋਗਨ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਸਰਮਾਈ ॥
logan te at hee saramaaee |
ਛਾਰ ਓਰ ਨਹਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਚਲਾਈ ॥੫॥
chhaar or neh drisatt chalaaee |5|
Being too ashamed, she did not notice the dust tied in the corner of her scarf.(5)

ਬਿਨੁ ਸੌਦਾ ਆਵਤ ਭਈ ਤੀਰ ਪਿਯਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
bin sauadaa aavat bhee teer piyaa ke naar |
Without doing shopping she came back to her husband.
ਛੋਰਿ ਗਾਠਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਕਹਾ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਨਿਕਸੀ ਛਾਰ ॥੬॥
chhor gaatth dekhai kahaa taa mai nikasee chhaar |6|
When she opened the knot, she found the dust there.(6)

ਕਰ ਰੁਪਯਾ ਮੋਰੇ ਤੁਮ ਦਯੋ ॥

ਸੌਦਾ ਲ︀ਯਾਵਨ ਕਾਜ ਪਠਯੋ ॥
sauadaa layaavan kaaj patthayo |
(She said,) ‘You gave me one rupee and sent me for shopping.
ਰੁਪਯਾ ਗਿਰਾ ਰਾਹ ਮਹ ਜਾਈ ॥
rupayaa giraa raah meh jaaee |
ਲੋਗ ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਲਾਜ ਮੁਹਿ ਆਈ ॥੭॥
log bilok laaj muhi aaee |7|
The rupee has fallen on the way, and I was embarrassed to see the people watching.(7)

ਛਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਗਹਯੋ ਗੋਦ ਲਾਜ ਤੇ ਡਾਰਿ ॥
chhaar sahit mai so gahayo god laaj te ddaar |
‘To save myself from embarrassment I tied down some dust.
ਤੁਮ ਹਾਥਨ ਸੋ ਖੋਜਿ ਕਰਿ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਲੇਹੁ ਨਿਕਾਰਿ ॥੮॥
tum haathan so khoj kar yaa te lehu nikaar |8|
Out of this now you can search and take out the rupee.’(8)
ਮੂੜ ਨਾਹ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਲਖਾ ਖੋਜਨ ਲਾਗਾ ਛਾਰ ॥
moorr naah kachh na lakhaa khojan laagaa chhaar |
The foolish husband did not acquesce, and started to search
ਸੋ ਨ ਲਹਾ ਚੁਪ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਹਾ ਸਕ੍ਰਯਾ ਨ ਭੇਦ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥੯॥
so na lahaa chup hvai rahaa sakrayaa na bhed bichaar |9|
When he could not find, without discernment, he just kept quiet.(9)(1)

Gond, Fifth Mehl:
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
naam sang keeno biauhaar |
I trade in the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਮੋੁ ਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
naamo hee is man kaa adhaar |
The Naam is the Support of the mind.
ਨਾਮੋ ਹੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਓਟ ॥
naamo hee chit keenee ott |
My consciousness takes to the Shelter of the Naam.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਕੋਟਿ ॥੧॥
naam japat mitteh paap kott |1|
Chanting the Naam, millions of sins are erased. ||1||
ਰਾਸਿ ਦੀਈ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
raas deeee har eko naam |
The Lord has blessed me with the wealth of the Naam, the Name of the One Lord.
ਮਨ ਕਾ ਇਸਟੁ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man kaa isatt gur sang dhiaan |1| rahaau |
The wish of my mind is to meditate on the Naam, in association with the Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
naam hamaare jeea kee raas |
The Naam is the wealth of my soul.
ਨਾਮੋ ਸੰਗੀ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਜਾਤ ॥
naamo sangee jat kat jaat |
Wherever I go, the Naam is with me.
ਨਾਮੋ ਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
naamo hee man laagaa meetthaa |
The Naam is sweet to my mind.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੨॥
jal thal sabh meh naamo ddeetthaa |2|
In the water, on the land, and everywhere, I see the Naam. ||2||
ਨਾਮੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ॥
naame daragah mukh ujale |
Through the Naam, one's face becomes radiant in the Court of the Lord.
ਨਾਮੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਰੇ ॥
naame sagale kul udhare |
Through the Naam, all one's generations are saved.
ਨਾਮਿ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸੀਧ ॥
naam hamaare kaaraj seedh |
Through the Naam, my affairs are resolved.
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਗੀਧ ॥੩॥
naam sang ihu manooaa geedh |3|
My mind is accustomed to the Naam. ||3||
ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਹਮ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ॥
naame hee ham nirbhau bhe |
Through the Naam, I have become fearless.
ਨਾਮੇ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਵਨ ਰਹੇ ॥
naame aavan jaavan rahe |
Through the Naam, my comings and goings have ceased.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥
gur poorai mele gunataas |
The Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord, the treasure of virtue.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥
kahu naanak sukh sehaj nivaas |4|2|4|
Says Nanak, I dwell in celestial peace. ||4||2||4||
ਗੋਂਡ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Gond, Fifth Mehl:
ਨਿਮਾਨੇ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਦੇਤੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
nimaane kau jo deto maan |
He grants honor to the dishonored,
ਸਗਲ ਭੂਖੇ ਕਉ ਕਰਤਾ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
sagal bhookhe kau karataa daan |
and gives gifts to all the hungry;
ਗਰਭ ਘੋਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
garabh ghor meh raakhanahaar |
he protects those in the terrible womb.
ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
tis tthaakur kau sadaa namasakaar |1|
So humbly bow forever to that Lord and Master. ||1||
ਐਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
aiso prabh man maeh dhiaae |
Meditate on such a God in your mind.
ਘਟਿ ਅਵਘਟਿ ਜਤ ਕਤਹਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ghatt avaghatt jat kateh sahaae |1| rahaau |
He shall be your help and support everywhere, in good times and bad. ||1||Pause||
ਰੰਕੁ ਰਾਉ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥
rank raau jaa kai ek samaan |
The beggar and the king are all the same to Him.
ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਸਗਲ ਪੂਰਾਨ ॥
keett hasat sagal pooraan |
He sustains and fulfills both the ant and the elephant.
ਬੀਓ ਪੂਛਿ ਨ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਧਰੈ ॥
beeo poochh na masalat dharai |
He does not consult or seek anyone's advice.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਆਪਹਿ ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥
jo kichh karai su aapeh karai |2|
Whatever He does, He does Himself. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਕੋਇ ॥
jaa kaa ant na jaanas koe |
No one knows His limit.
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
aape aap niranjan soe |
He Himself is the Immaculate Lord.
ਆਪਿ ਅਕਾਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
aap akaar aap nirankaar |
He Himself is formed, and He Himself is formless.
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਘਟਿ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
ghatt ghatt ghatt sabh ghatt aadhaar |3|
In the heart, in each and every heart, He is the Support of all hearts. ||3||
ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਭਗਤ ਭਏ ਲਾਲ ॥
naam rang bhagat bhe laal |
Through the Love of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the devotees become His Beloveds.
ਜਸੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
jas karate sant sadaa nihaal |
Singing the Praises of the Creator, the Saints are forever in bliss.
ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਨ ਰਹੇ ਅਘਾਇ ॥
naam rang jan rahe aghaae |
Through the Love of the Naam, the Lord's humble servants remain satisfied.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੫॥
naanak tin jan laagai paae |4|3|5|
Nanak falls at the feet of those humble servants of the Lord. ||4||3||5||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ॥
jaa kai sang ihu man niramal |
Associating with them, this mind becomes immaculate and pure.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ॥
jaa kai sang har har simaran |
Associating with them, one meditates in remembrance on the Lord, Har, Har.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਨਾਸ ॥
jaa kai sang kilabikh hohi naas |
Associating with them, all the sins are erased.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੧॥
jaa kai sang ridai paragaas |1|
Associating with them, the heart is illumined. ||1||
ਸੇ ਸੰਤਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ॥
se santan har ke mere meet |
Those Saints of the Lord are my friends.
ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
keval naam gaaeeai jaa kai neet |1| rahaau |
It is their custom to sing only the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥
jaa kai mantr har har man vasai |
By their mantra, the Lord, Har, Har, dwells in the mind.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਨਸੈ ॥
jaa kai upades bharam bhau nasai |
By their teachings, doubt and fear are dispelled.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਰ ॥
jaa kai keerat niramal saar |
By their kirtan, they become immaculate and sublime.
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੨॥
jaa kee ren baanchhai sansaar |2|
The world longs for the dust of their feet. ||2||
ਕੋਟਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰ ॥
kott patit jaa kai sang udhaar |
Millions of sinners are saved by associating with them.
ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
ek nirankaar jaa kai naam adhaar |
They have the Support of the Name of the One Formless Lord.
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆਂ ਕਾ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਉ ॥
sarab jeean kaa jaanai bheo |
He knows the secrets of all beings;
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਉ ॥੩॥
kripaa nidhaan niranjan deo |3|
He is the treasure of mercy, the divine immaculate Lord. ||3||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
paarabraham jab bhe kripaal |
When the Supreme Lord God becomes merciful,
ਤਬ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
tab bhette gur saadh deaal |
then one meets the Merciful Holy Guru.
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
din rain naanak naam dhiaae |
Day and night, Nanak meditates on the Naam.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥੬॥
sookh sehaj aanand har naae |4|4|6|
Through the Lord's Name, he is blessed with peace, poise and bliss. ||4||4||6||
