tit ghar bilaaval gur sabad suhaae |
joyful melodies permeate his home, and he is embellished with the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਮੰਗਲੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਆਏ ॥
mangal naaree gaaveh aae |
The women come and sing the songs of joy.
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
mil preetam sadaa sukh paae |1|
Meeting with their Beloved, lasting peace is obtained. ||1||
ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
hau tin balihaarai jina har man vasaae |
I am a sacrifice to those, whose minds are filled with the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har jan kau miliaa sukh paaeeai har gun gaavai sehaj subhaae |1| rahaau |
Meeting with the humble servant of the Lord, peace is obtained, and one intuitively sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਚਾਏ ॥
sadaa rang raate terai chaae |
They are always imbued with Your Joyful Love;
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
har jeeo aap vasai man aae |
O Dear Lord, You Yourself come to dwell in their minds.
ਆਪੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
aape sobhaa sad hee paae |
They obtain eternal glory.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥
guramukh melai mel milaae |2|
The Gurmukhs are united in the Lord's Union. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਰੰਗਾਏ ॥
guramukh raate sabad rangaae |
The Gurmukhs are imbued with the love of the Word of the Shabad.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
nij ghar vaasaa har gun gaae |
They abide in the home of their own being, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
rang chaloolai har ras bhaae |
They are dyed in the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love; they look so beautiful.
ਇਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੩॥
eihu rang kade na utarai saach samaae |3|
This dye never fades away; they are absorbed in the True Lord. ||3||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥
antar sabad mittiaa agiaan andheraa |
The Shabad deep within the nucleus of the self dispels the darkness of ignorance.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
satigur giaan miliaa preetam meraa |
Meeting with my Friend, the True Guru, I have obtained spiritual wisdom.
ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਫੇਰਾ ॥
jo sach raate tin bahurr na feraa |
Those who are attuned to the True Lord, do not have to enter the cycle of reincarnation again.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੫॥
naanak naam drirraae pooraa gur meraa |4|5|
O Nanak, my Perfect Guru implants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, deep within. ||4||5||

ਅਚਿੰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
achint naam vasiaa man aaee |
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, has spontaneously come to abide in my mind.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਈ ॥
haumai maaeaa sabad jalaaee |
Through the Word of the Shabad, I have burnt away egotism and Maya.
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
dar saachai gur te sobhaa paaee |1|
Through the Guru, I have obtained honor in the Court of the True Lord. ||1||
ਜਗਦੀਸ ਸੇਵਉ ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਾਜਾ ॥
jagadees sevau mai avar na kaajaa |
I serve the Lord of the Universe; I have no other work to do.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਾਗਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਵਾਜਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anadin anad hovai man merai guramukh maagau teraa naam nivaajaa |1| rahaau |
Night and day, my mind is in ecstasy; as Gurmukh, I beg for the bliss-giving Naam. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥
man kee parateet man te paaee |
From the mind itself, mental faith is obtained.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
poore gur te sabad bujhaaee |
Through the Guru, I have realized the Shabad.
ਜੀਵਣ ਮਰਣੁ ਕੋ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
jeevan maran ko samasar vekhai |
How rare is that person, who looks upon life and death alike.
ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਨਾ ਜਮੁ ਪੇਖੈ ॥੨॥
bahurr na marai naa jam pekhai |2|
She shall never die again, and shall not have to see the Messenger of Death. ||2||
ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਕੋਟ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
ghar hee meh sabh kott nidhaan |
Within the home of the self are all the millions of treasures.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਗਇਆ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
satigur dikhaae geaa abhimaan |
The True Guru has revealed them, and my egotistical pride is gone.
ਸਦ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨ ॥
sad hee laagaa sehaj dhiaan |
I keep my meditation always focused on the Cosmic Lord.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥
anadin gaavai eko naam |3|
Night and day, I sing the One Name. ||3||
ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਈ ॥
eis jug meh vaddiaaee paaee |
I have obtained glorious greatness in this age,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
poore gur te naam dhiaaee |
from the Perfect Guru, meditating on the Naam.
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
jeh dekhaa teh rahiaa samaaee |
Wherever I look, I see the Lord permeating and pervading.
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥
sadaa sukhadaataa keemat nahee paaee |4|
He is forever the Giver of peace; His worth cannot be estimated. ||4||
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
poorai bhaag gur pooraa paaeaa |
By perfect destiny, I have found the Perfect Guru.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
antar naam nidhaan dikhaaeaa |
He has revealed to me the treasure of the Naam, deep within the nucleus of my self.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਤਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
gur kaa sabad at meetthaa laaeaa |
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is so very sweet.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੬॥੪॥੬॥੧੦॥
naanak trisan bujhee man tan sukh paaeaa |5|6|4|6|10|
O Nanak, my thirst is quenched, and my mind and body have found peace. ||5||6||4||6||10||

audam mat prabh antarajaamee jiau prere tiau karanaa |
Effort and intelligence come from God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; as He wills, they act.
ਜਿਉ ਨਟੂਆ ਤੰਤੁ ਵਜਾਏ ਤੰਤੀ ਤਿਉ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਜੰਤ ਜਨਾ ॥੧॥
jiau nattooaa tant vajaae tantee tiau vaajeh jant janaa |1|
As the violinist plays upon the strings of the violin, so does the Lord play the living beings. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
jap man raam naam rasanaa |
Chant the Name of the Lord with your tongue, O mind.
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
masatak likhat likhe gur paaeaa har hiradai har basanaa |1| rahaau |
According to the pre-ordained destiny written upon my forehead, I have found the Guru, and the Lord abides within my heart. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਇਆ ਗਿਰਸਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੁ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਜਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
maaeaa girasat bhramat hai praanee rakh levahu jan apanaa |
Entangled in Maya, the mortal wanders around. Save Your humble servant, O Lord,
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦੁ ਹਰਣਾਖਸਿ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
jiau prahilaad haranaakhas grasio har raakhio har saranaa |2|
as you saved Prahlaad from the clutches of Harnaakash; keep him in Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||2||
ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਾ ॥
kavan kavan kee gat mit kaheeai har kee patit pavanaa |
How can I describe the state and the condition, O Lord, of those many sinners you have purified?
ਓਹੁ ਢੋਵੈ ਢੋਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਚਮੁ ਚਮਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਉਧਰਿਓ ਪਰਿਓ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੩॥
ohu dtovai dtor haath cham chamare har udhario pario saranaa |3|
Ravi Daas, the leather-worker, who worked with hides and carried dead animals was saved, by entering the Lord's Sanctuary. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਗਤ ਭਵ ਤਾਰਨ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਪਪਨਾ ॥
prabh deen deaal bhagat bhav taaran ham paapee raakh papanaa |
O God, Merciful to the meek, carry Your devotees across the world-ocean; I am a sinner - save me from sin!
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਹਮ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸੰਨਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
har daasan daas daas ham kareeahu jan naanak daas daasanaa |4|1|
O Lord, make me the slave of the slave of Your slaves; servant Nanak is the slave of Your slaves. ||4||1||
