ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
darasan kau lochai sabh koee |
Everyone longs for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
poorai bhaag paraapat hoee | rahaau |
By perfect destiny, it is obtained. ||Pause||
ਸਿਆਮ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਤਜਿ ਨੀਦ ਕਿਉ ਆਈ ॥
siaam sundar taj need kiau aaee |
Forsaking the Beautiful Lord, how can they go to sleep?
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੂਤਾ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥
mahaa mohanee dootaa laaee |1|
The great enticer Maya has led them down the path of sin. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਛੋਹਾ ਕਰਤ ਕਸਾਈ ॥
prem bichhohaa karat kasaaee |
This butcher has separated them from the Beloved Lord.
ਨਿਰਦੈ ਜੰਤੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਇਆ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
niradai jant tis deaa na paaee |2|
This merciless one shows no mercy at all to the poor beings. ||2||
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਨਮ ਬੀਤੀਅਨ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥
anik janam beeteean bharamaaee |
Countless lifetimes have passed away, wandering aimlessly.
ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਨ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੁਤਰ ਮਾਈ ॥੩॥
ghar vaas na devai dutar maaee |3|
The terrible, treacherous Maya does not even allow them to dwell in their own home. ||3||
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਆ ਪਾਈ ॥
din rain apanaa keea paaee |
Day and night, they receive the rewards of their own actions.
ਕਿਸੁ ਦੋਸੁ ਨ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਭਵਾਈ ॥੪॥
kis dos na deejai kirat bhavaaee |4|
Don't blame anyone else; your own actions lead you astray. ||4||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਭਾਈ ॥
sun saajan sant jan bhaaee |
Listen, O Friend, O Saint, O humble Sibling of Destiny:
ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥੩੪॥੪੦॥
charan saran naanak gat paaee |5|34|40|
in the Sanctuary of the Lord's Feet, Nanak has found Salvation. ||5||34||40||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਭਲੀ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਛਾਪਰੀ ਜਾ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥
bhalee suhaavee chhaaparee jaa meh gun gaae |
Even a crude hut is sublime and beautiful, if the Lord's Praises are sung within it.
ਕਿਤ ਹੀ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਧਉਲਹਰ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kit hee kaam na dhaulahar jit har bisaraae |1| rahaau |
Those mansions where the Lord is forgotten are useless. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਦੁ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਏ ॥
anad gareebee saadhasang jit prabh chit aae |
Even poverty is bliss, if God comes to mind in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ਏਹੁ ਬਡਪਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥੧॥
jal jaau ehu baddapanaa maaeaa lapattaae |1|
This worldly glory might just as well burn; it only traps the mortals in Maya. ||1||
ਪੀਸਨੁ ਪੀਸਿ ਓਢਿ ਕਾਮਰੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਾਏ ॥
peesan pees odt kaamaree sukh man santokhaae |
One may have to grind corn, and wear a coarse blanket, but still, one can find peace of mind and contentment.
ਐਸੋ ਰਾਜੁ ਨ ਕਿਤੈ ਕਾਜਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਏ ॥੨॥
aiso raaj na kitai kaaj jit neh tripataae |2|
Even empires are of no use at all, if they do not bring satisfaction. ||2||
ਨਗਨ ਫਿਰਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਏਕ ਕੈ ਓਹੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
nagan firat rang ek kai ohu sobhaa paae |
Someone may wander around naked, but if he loves the One Lord, he receives honor and respect.
ਪਾਟ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਬਿਰਥਿਆ ਜਿਹ ਰਚਿ ਲੋਭਾਏ ॥੩॥
paatt pattanbar birathiaa jih rach lobhaae |3|
Silk and satin clothes are worthless, if they lead to greed. ||3||
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮੑਰੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
sabh kichh tumarai haath prabh aap kare karaae |
Everything is in Your Hands, God. You Yourself are the Doer, the Cause of causes.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧॥੪੧॥
saas saas simarat rahaa naanak daan paae |4|1|41|
With each and every breath, may I continue to remember You. Please, bless Nanak with this gift. ||4||1||41||

Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਪਰਾਨ ਧਨ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਪਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥
har kaa sant paraan dhan tis kaa panihaaraa |
The Lord's Saint is my life and wealth. I am his water-carrier.
ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਤ ਸਗਲ ਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhaaee meet sut sagal te jeea hoon te piaaraa |1| rahaau |
He is dearer to me than all my siblings, friends and children. ||1||Pause||
ਕੇਸਾ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਬੀਜਨਾ ਸੰਤ ਚਉਰੁ ਢੁਲਾਵਉ ॥
kesaa kaa kar beejanaa sant chaur dtulaavau |
I make my hair into a fan, and wave it over the Saint.
ਸੀਸੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਉ ਚਰਣ ਤਲਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
sees nihaarau charan tal dhoor mukh laavau |1|
I bow my head low, to touch his feet, and apply his dust to my face. ||1||
ਮਿਸਟ ਬਚਨ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਉ ਦੀਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ॥
misatt bachan benatee krau deen kee niaaee |
I offer my prayer with sweet words, in sincere humility.
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
taj abhimaan saranee prau har gun nidh paaee |2|
Renouncing egotism, I enter His Sanctuary. I have found the Lord, the treasure of virtue. ||2||
ਅਵਲੋਕਨ ਪੁਨਹ ਪੁਨਹ ਕਰਉ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਾਰੁ ॥
avalokan punah punah krau jan kaa darasaar |
I gaze upon the Blessed Vision of the Lord's humble servant, again and again.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਿੰਚਉ ਬੰਦਉ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ॥੩॥
amrit bachan man meh sinchau bandau baar baar |3|
I cherish and gather in His Ambrosial Words within my mind; time and time again, I bow to Him. ||3||
ਚਿਤਵਉ ਮਨਿ ਆਸਾ ਕਰਉ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਮਾਗਉ ॥
chitvau man aasaa krau jan kaa sang maagau |
In my mind, I wish, hope and beg for the Society of the Lord's humble servants.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਉ ॥੪॥੨॥੪੨॥
naanak kau prabh deaa kar daas charanee laagau |4|2|42|
Be Merciful to Nanak, O God, and lead him to the feet of Your slaves. ||4||2||42||

Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਨਿ ਮੋਹੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਤਾਹੂ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਉ ॥
jin mohe brahamandd khandd taahoo meh paau |
She has enticed the worlds and solar systems; I have fallen into her clutches.
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਖਈ ਜੀਉ ਦੇਹੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raakh lehu ihu bikhee jeeo dehu apunaa naau |1| rahaau |
O Lord, please save this corrupt soul of mine; please bless me with Your Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਸੁਖੀ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਪਾਛੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
jaa te naahee ko sukhee taa kai paachhai jaau |
She has not brought anyone peace, but still, I chase after her.
ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਜੋ ਸਗਲ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਲਪਟਾਉ ॥੧॥
chhodd jaeh jo sagal kau fir fir lapattaau |1|
She forsakes everyone, but still, I cling to her, again and again. ||1||
ਕਰਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੁਣਾਪਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
karahu kripaa karunaapate tere har gun gaau |
Have Mercy on me, O Lord of Compassion; please let me sing Your Glorious Praises, O Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੨॥੩॥੪੩॥
naanak kee prabh benatee saadhasang samaau |2|3|43|
This is Nanak's prayer, O Lord, that he may join and merge with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||3||43||
