ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਤੇਰੇ ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਗਾਵਾ ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
tere kavan kavan gun keh keh gaavaa too saahib gunee nidhaanaa |
Which, which of Your Glorious Virtues should I sing and recount, Lord? You are my Lord and Master, the treasure of excellence.
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਊਚ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
tumaree mahimaa baran na saakau toon tthaakur aooch bhagavaanaa |1|
I cannot express Your Glorious Praises. You are my Lord and Master, lofty and benevolent. ||1||
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਰ ਸੋਈ ॥
mai har har naam dhar soee |
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my only support.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiau bhaavai tiau raakh mere saahib mai tujh bin avar na koee |1| rahaau |
If it pleases You, please save me, O my Lord and Master; without You, I have no other at all. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈ ਤਾਣੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
mai taan deebaan toohai mere suaamee mai tudh aagai aradaas |
You alone are my strength, and my Court, O my Lord and Master; unto You alone I pray.
ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਥਾਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
mai hor thaau naahee jis peh krau benantee meraa dukh sukh tujh hee paas |2|
There is no other place where I can offer my prayers; I can tell my pains and pleasures only to You. ||2||
ਵਿਚੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਾਸਟ ਅਗਨਿ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥
viche dharatee viche paanee vich kaasatt agan dhareejai |
Water is locked up in the earth, and fire is locked up in wood.
ਬਕਰੀ ਸਿੰਘੁ ਇਕਤੈ ਥਾਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਦੂਰਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੩॥
bakaree singh ikatai thaae raakhe man har jap bhram bhau door keejai |3|
The sheep and the lions are kept in one place; O mortal, meditate on the Lord, and your doubts and fears shall be removed. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਮਾਣੁ ਦੇਵਾਏ ॥
har kee vaddiaaee dekhahu santahu har nimaaniaa maan devaae |
So behold the glorious greatness of the Lord, O Saints; the Lord blesses the dishonored with honor.
ਜਿਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਚਰਣ ਤਲੇ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਆਣਿ ਸਭੁ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥
jiau dharatee charan tale te aoopar aavai tiau naanak saadh janaa jagat aan sabh pairee paae |4|1|12|
As dust rises from underfoot, O Nanak, so does the Lord make all people fall at the feet of the Holy. ||4||1||12||

Soohee, Fourth Mehl:
ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਹਿ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ ॥
toon karataa sabh kichh aape jaaneh kiaa tudh peh aakh sunaaeeai |
You Yourself, O Creator, know everything; what can I possibly tell You?
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਕਰੇ ਤੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
buraa bhalaa tudh sabh kichh soojhai jehaa ko kare tehaa ko paaeeai |1|
You know all the bad and the good; as we act, so are we rewarded. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥
mere saahib toon antar kee bidh jaaneh |
O my Lord and Master, You alone know the state of my inner being.
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬੁਲਾਵਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
buraa bhalaa tudh sabh kichh soojhai tudh bhaavai tivai bulaaveh |1| rahaau |
You know all the bad and the good; as it pleases You, so You make us speak. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੇਹੀ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਈ ॥
sabh mohu maaeaa sareer har keea vich dehee maanukh bhagat karaaee |
The Lord has infused the love of Maya into all bodies; through this human body, there comes the opportunity to worship the Lord with devotion.
ਇਕਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਧੰਧੁ ਪਿਟਾਈ ॥੨॥
eikanaa satigur mel sukh deveh ik manamukh dhandh pittaaee |2|
You unite some with the True Guru, and bless them with peace; while others, the self-willed manmukhs, are engrossed in worldly affairs. ||2||
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਤੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ॥
sabh ko teraa toon sabhanaa kaa mere karate tudh sabhanaa sir likhiaa lekh |
All belong to You, and You belong to all, O my Creator Lord; You wrote the words of destiny on the forehead of everyone.
ਜੇਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਭੇਖੁ ॥੩॥
jehee toon nadar kareh tehaa ko hovai bin nadaree naahee ko bhekh |3|
As You bestow Your Glance of Grace, so are mortals made; without Your Gracious Glance, no one assumes any form. ||3||
ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸਭ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
teree vaddiaaee toonhai jaaneh sabh tudhano nit dhiaae |
You alone know Your Glorious Greatness; everyone constantly meditates on You.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੩॥
jis no tudh bhaavai tis no toon meleh jan naanak so thaae paae |4|2|13|
That being, with whom You are pleased, is united with You; O servant Nanak, only such a mortal is accepted. ||4||2||13||

Soohee, Fourth Mehl:
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
jin kai antar vasiaa meraa har har tin ke sabh rog gavaae |
Those beings, within whose inner selves my Lord, Har, Har, dwells - all their diseases are cured.
ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਏ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
te mukat bhe jin har naam dhiaaeaa tin pavit param pad paae |1|
They alone become liberated, who meditate on the Name of the Lord; they obtain the supreme status. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਆਰੋਗ ਭਏ ॥
mere raam har jan aarog bhe |
O my Lord, the Lord's humble servants become healthy.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਜਿਨਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur bachanee jinaa japiaa meraa har har tin ke haumai rog ge |1| rahaau |
Those who meditate on my Lord, Har, Har, through the Word of the Guru's Teachings, are rid of the disease of ego. ||1||Pause||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਰੋਗੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
brahamaa bisan mahaadeo trai gun rogee vich haumai kaar kamaaee |
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva suffer from the disease of the three gunas - the three qualities; they do their deeds in egotism.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
jin kee tiseh na cheteh bapurre har guramukh sojhee paaee |2|
The poor fools do not remember the One who created them; this understanding of the Lord is only obtained by those who become Gurmukh. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
haumai rog sabh jagat biaapiaa tin kau janam maran dukh bhaaree |
The entire world is afflicted by the disease of egotism. They suffer the terrible pains of birth and death.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
gur parasaadee ko viralaa chhoottai tis jan kau hau balihaaree |3|
By Guru's Grace, a few rare ones are saved; I am a sacrifice to those humble beings. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥
jin sisatt saajee soee har jaanai taa kaa roop apaaro |
The One who created the Universe, that Lord alone knows. His beauty is incomparable.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥
naanak aape vekh har bigasai guramukh braham beechaaro |4|3|14|
O Nanak, the Lord Himself gazes upon it, and is pleased. The Gurmukh contemplates God. ||4||3||14||
