ਅੰਬਿਕਾ ਤੋਤਲਾ ਸੀਤਲਾ ਸਾਕਣੀ ॥
anbikaa totalaa seetalaa saakanee |
“O Goddess! You are Ambika and Shitala being intoxicated, you may falter
ਸਿੰਧੁਰੀ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਸੁਭ੍ਰਮਾ ਡਾਕਣੀ ॥
sindhuree suprabhaa subhramaa ddaakanee |
You are influential like the ocean You are also Dakini
ਸਾਵਜਾ ਸੰਭਿਰੀ ਸਿੰਧੁਲਾ ਦੁਖਹਰੀ ॥
saavajaa sanbhiree sindhulaa dukhaharee |
“You are the performer of Sambhavi Mudra (a kind of osture) and the remover of suffering
ਸੁੰਮਿਲਾ ਸੰਭਿਲਾ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਦੁਧਰੀ ॥੬੩॥
sunmilaa sanbhilaa suprabhaa dudharee |63|
You are absorbed in all, doer of good to all, greatly glorious and the destroyer of all.63.
ਭਾਵਨਾ ਭੈ ਹਰੀ ਭੂਤਿਲੀ ਭੈਹਰਾ ॥
bhaavanaa bhai haree bhootilee bhaiharaa |
“You manifest yourself in accordance with everyone’s emotion You are the fear-remover of the world
ਟਾਕਣੀ ਝਾਕਣੀ ਸਾਕਣੀ ਸਿੰਧੁਲਾ ॥
ttaakanee jhaakanee saakanee sindhulaa |
You are the chopper of everyone and associated with them, you are profound and serene like the sea
ਦੁਧਰਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਮੁਖਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਕਟਾ ਦੁਧਰੀ ॥
dudharaa drumukhaa drukattaa dudharee |
“You are the double-edged sword and double-faced Durga you are invincible
ਕੰਪਿਲਾ ਜੰਪਿਲਾ ਹਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਭੈਹਰੀ ॥੬੪॥
kanpilaa janpilaa hingulaa bhaiharee |64|
You are Hinglaj, the remover of the fear of all and all remember Thy Name.64.
ਚਿਤ੍ਰਣੀ ਚਾਪਣੀ ਚਾਰਣੀ ਚਛਣੀ ॥
chitranee chaapanee chaaranee chachhanee |
You are the rider of lion; you have charming eyes;
ਹਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਪਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬਾ ਜਛਣੀ ॥
hingulaa pingulaa gandhrabaa jachhanee |
You are Hinglaj, Pinglaj, a Gandharva woman and a Yaksha woman;
ਬਰਮਣੀ ਚਰਮਣੀ ਪਰਘਣੀ ਪਾਸਣੀ ॥
baramanee charamanee paraghanee paasanee |
“You are the destroyer of armours
ਖੜਗਣੀ ਗੜਗਣੀ ਸੈਥਣੀ ਸਾਪਣੀ ॥੬੫॥
kharraganee garraganee saithanee saapanee |65|
You are the sword-wielder and thundering goddess and you are the lance like a female serpent.65.
ਭੀਮੜਾ ਸਮਦੜਾ ਹਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਕਾਰਤਕੀ ॥
bheemarraa samadarraa hingulaa kaaratakee |
“You are renowned for your large body
ਸੁਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਅਛਿਦਾ ਅਧਿਰਾ ਮਾਰਤਕੀ ॥
suprabhaa achhidaa adhiraa maaratakee |
You are Hinglaj and the goddess Kartikeyi You are glorious and indestructible and the base of all deaths
ਗਿੰਗਲੀ ਹਿੰਗੁਲੀ ਠਿੰਗੁਲੀ ਪਿੰਗੁਲਾ ॥

“Your various names are Ginglaj, Hinglaj, Thinglaj, Pinglaj
ਚਿਕਣੀ ਚਰਕਟਾ ਚਰਪਟਾ ਚਾਵਡਾ ॥੬੬॥

You are Chamunda of tricky speed.66.
ਅਛਿਦਾ ਅਭਿਦਾ ਅਸਿਤਾ ਅਧਰੀ ॥

“O Goddess! You are invincible, indiscriminate, non-white and base of all
ਅਕਟਾ ਅਖੰਡਾ ਅਛਟਾ ਦੁਧਰੀ ॥
akattaa akhanddaa achhattaa dudharee |
You are unchopable and beyond all splendours
ਅੰਜਨੀ ਅੰਬਿਕਾ ਅਸਤ੍ਰਣੀ ਧਾਰਣੀ ॥
anjanee anbikaa asatranee dhaaranee |
“You are also Anjani, the mother of Hanuman you are Ambika, who holds the weapons
ਅਭਰੰ ਅਧਰਾ ਜਗਤਿ ਉਧਾਰਣੀ ॥੬੭॥
abharan adharaa jagat udhaaranee |67|
You are imperishable, support of all and the redeemer of the world.67.

You are serene like the sea and always remain absorbed
ਸੰਭਰੀ ਗੰਭਰੀ ਅੰਭਰੀ ਅਕਟਾ ॥
sanbharee ganbharee anbharee akattaa |
“You are alert, serene you are large and invincible like the sky
ਦੁਸਲਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਭਿਖਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਕਟਾ ਅਮਿਟਾ ॥੬੮॥
dusalaa drubhikhaa drukattaa amittaa |68|
You have enwrapped all the world within yourself and you yourself are ineffaceable and destroyer of all.68.

You are the Trikuti, Yogini, Chamunda and Manavi in practice
ਜੋਬਨਾ ਜੈਕਰੀ ਜੰਭਹਰੀ ਜਾਲਪਾ ॥
jobanaa jaikaree janbhaharee jaalapaa |
“You are youthful, the killer of the demon Jambh
ਤੋਤਲਾ ਤੁੰਦਲਾ ਦੰਤਲੀ ਕਾਲਿਕਾ ॥੬੯॥
totalaa tundalaa dantalee kaalikaa |69|
You are the goddess Kalika lisping, stuttering and stammering while being intoxicated.69.
ਭਰਮਣਾ ਨਿਭ੍ਰਮਾ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਭੈਹਰੀ ॥
bharamanaa nibhramaa bhaavanaa bhaiharee |
“You are the wanderer, fulfiller of the emotions beyond the illusions and the remover of fear
ਬਰ ਬੁਧਾ ਦਾਤ੍ਰਣੀ ਸਤ੍ਰਣੀ ਛੈਕਰੀ ॥
bar budhaa daatranee satranee chhaikaree |
You are the donor of boons and the destroyer of enemies
ਦ੍ਰੁਕਟਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਭਿਦਾ ਦੁਧਰਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਮਦੀ ॥
drukattaa drubhidaa dudharaa drumadee |
“You are indiscriminate, invincible and high like the tree
ਅਤ੍ਰੁਟਾ ਅਛੁਟਾ ਅਜਟਾ ਅਭਿਦੀ ॥੭੦॥
atruttaa achhuttaa ajattaa abhidee |70|
You are the wielder of arms, beyond all splendours, with lose matted locks and indistinguishable.70.
ਤੰਤਲਾ ਅੰਤਲਾ ਸੰਤਲਾ ਸਾਵਜਾ ॥
tantalaa antalaa santalaa saavajaa |
“You are expert in Tantras and Mantras and black (Kali) like a cloud
ਭੀਮੜਾ ਭੈਹਰੀ ਭੂਤਲਾ ਬਾਵਜਾ ॥

You have a large body You are the remover of fear and you are the emotion-manifestation of the whole world
ਡਾਕਣੀ ਸਾਕਣੀ ਝਾਕਣੀ ਕਾਕਿੜਾ ॥

“You are Dakini, Shakini and sweet in speech
ਕਿੰਕੜੀ ਕਾਲਿਕਾ ਜਾਲਪਾ ਜੈ ਮ੍ਰਿੜਾ ॥੭੧॥
kinkarree kaalikaa jaalapaa jai mrirraa |71|
O Goddess! You are Kalika having the sound of Kinkini Hail to Thee.71.
ਠਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਹਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਪਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਸਣੀ ॥
tthingulaa hingulaa pingulaa praasanee |
“You have a subtle form You are the adorable Hinglaj and Pinglaj
ਸਸਤ੍ਰਣੀ ਅਸਤ੍ਰਣੀ ਸੂਲਣੀ ਸਾਸਣੀ ॥
sasatranee asatranee soolanee saasanee |
You are the wielder of arms and weapons and the agoniser like the thorn
ਕੰਨਿਕਾ ਅੰਨਿਕਾ ਧੰਨਿਕਾ ਧਉਲਰੀ ॥
kanikaa anikaa dhanikaa dhaularee |
“O the Goddess of corn, pervading in all particles! You are the one to arise from the cloud and become and renowned Hail to thee.
ਰਕਤਿਕਾ ਸਕਤਿਕਾ ਭਕਤਕਾ ਜੈਕਰੀ ॥੭੨॥
rakatikaa sakatikaa bhakatakaa jaikaree |72|
You are the quality to activity, power-manifestation and sustainer of the saints, Hail to Thee.72.
ਝਿੰਗੜਾ ਪਿੰਗੜਾ ਜਿੰਗੜਾ ਜਾਲਪਾ ॥
jhingarraa pingarraa jingarraa jaalapaa |
“You are Goddess and the rules of prosody
ਜੋਗਣੀ ਭੋਗਣੀ ਰੋਗ ਹਰੀ ਕਾਲਿਕਾ ॥
joganee bhoganee rog haree kaalikaa |
You are also Yogni, Enjoyer and Kalika, the destroyer of ailments
ਚੰਚਲਾ ਚਾਵਡਾ ਚਾਚਰਾ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ ॥
chanchalaa chaavaddaa chaacharaa chitrataa |
“You are ever active in the form of Chamunda and you are charming like a portrait
ਤੰਤਰੀ ਭਿੰਭਰੀ ਛਤ੍ਰਣੀ ਛਿੰਛਲਾ ॥੭੩॥
tantaree bhinbharee chhatranee chhinchhalaa |73|
You are the mistress of the Tantas You are all pervading and have canopy over your head.73.
ਦੰਤੁਲਾ ਦਾਮਣੀ ਦ੍ਰੁਕਟਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਭ੍ਰਮਾ ॥
dantulaa daamanee drukattaa drubhramaa |
“You are the lightning of large teeth You are unstoppable and far away from all illusions
ਛੁਧਿਤਾ ਨਿੰਦ੍ਰਕਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਭਿਖਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਗਮਾ ॥
chhudhitaa nindrakaa nribhikhaa nrigamaa |
You are also the movement of all including hunger, sleep and garb
ਕਦ੍ਰਕਾ ਚੂੜਿਕਾ ਚਾਚਕਾ ਚਾਪਣੀ ॥
kadrakaa choorrikaa chaachakaa chaapanee |
“You are the bow-wielder and ornament-wearer woman
ਚਿਚ੍ਰੜੀ ਚਾਵੜਾ ਚਿੰਪਿਲਾ ਜਾਪਣੀ ॥੭੪॥
chichrarree chaavarraa chinpilaa jaapanee |74|
You are everywhere seated in various adorable forms.”74.

How can I describe the Gory of thy feet? Thy feet are auspicious and vice-less like lotus
ਮਨ ਮਧੁਕਰਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲਨ ਪਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਮਨਮਤ ਗੁੰਜਾਰੋ ॥
man madhukareh charan kamalan par hvai manamat gunjaaro |
My mind has become a bumble bee and is humming over the lotus-feet
ਮਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਸਪਤ ਸਪਿਤ ਪਿਤਰਨ ਕੁਲ ਚੌਦਹੂੰ ਕੁਲੀ ਉਧਾਰੋ ॥੭੫॥
maatrik sapat sapit pitaran kul chauadahoon kulee udhaaro |75|
This being will be redeemed alongwith the fourteen generations of parents and manes (if it meditates on Thy Lotus-Feet).175.

jatan karai maanukh ddahakaavai ohu antarajaamee jaanai |
People try to deceive others, but the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, knows everything.
ਪਾਪ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਮੂਕਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੈ ॥੧॥
paap kare kar mookar paavai bhekh karai nirabaanai |1|
They commit sins, and then deny them, while they pretend to be in Nirvaanaa. ||1||
ਜਾਨਤ ਦੂਰਿ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨੇਰਿ ॥
jaanat door tumeh prabh ner |
They believe that You are far away, but You, O God, are near at hand.
ਉਤ ਤਾਕੈ ਉਤ ਤੇ ਉਤ ਪੇਖੈ ਆਵੈ ਲੋਭੀ ਫੇਰਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aut taakai ut te ut pekhai aavai lobhee fer | rahaau |
Looking around, this way and that, the greedy people come and go. ||Pause||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਤੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨ ਭਰਮਾ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
jab lag tuttai naahee man bharamaa tab lag mukat na koee |
As long as the doubts of the mind are not removed, liberation is not found.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੰਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥੫॥੩੬॥
kahu naanak deaal suaamee sant bhagat jan soee |2|5|36|
Says Nanak, he alone is a Saint, a devotee, and a humble servant of the Lord, to whom the Lord and Master is merciful. ||2||5||36||

ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਓ ਹੈ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
naam gur deeo hai apunai jaa kai masatak karamaa |
My Guru gives the Naam, the Name of the Lord, to those who have such karma written on their foreheads.
ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੧॥
naam drirraavai naam japaavai taa kaa jug meh dharamaa |1|
He implants the Naam, and inspires us to chant the Naam; this is Dharma, true religion, in this world. ||1||
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਸੋਭ ॥
jan kau naam vaddaaee sobh |
The Naam is the glory and greatness of the Lord's humble servant.
ਨਾਮੋ ਗਤਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਪਤਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਮਾਨੈ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਹੋਗ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naamo gat naamo pat jan kee maanai jo jo hog |1| rahaau |
The Naam is his salvation, and the Naam is his honor; he accepts whatever comes to pass. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਪਾਲੈ ਸੋਈ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਹਾ ॥
naam dhan jis jan kai paalai soee pooraa saahaa |
That humble servant, who has the Naam as his wealth, is the perfect banker.
ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਧਾਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਲਾਹਾ ॥੨॥੬॥੩੭॥
naam biauhaaraa naanak aadhaaraa naam paraapat laahaa |2|6|37|
The Naam is his occupation, O Nanak, and his only support; the Naam is the profit he earns. ||2||6||37||

My eyes have been purified, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, and touching my forehead to the dust of His feet.
ਰਸਿ ਰਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਉ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਮੋਰੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਹੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੧॥
ras ras gun gaavau tthaakur ke morai hiradai basahu gopaal |1|
With joy and happiness, I sing the Glorious Praises of my Lord and Master; the Lord of the World abides within my heart. ||1||
ਤੁਮ ਤਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
tum tau raakhanahaar deaal |
You are my Merciful Protector, Lord.
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਘਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sundar sughar beant pitaa prabh hohu prabhoo kirapaal |1| rahaau |
O beautiful, wise, infinite Father God, be Merciful to me, God. ||1||Pause||
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰੂਪ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਅਨੂਪ ਰਸਾਲ ॥
mahaa anand mangal roop tumare bachan anoop rasaal |
O Lord of supreme ecstasy and blissful form, Your Word is so beautiful, so drenched with Nectar.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਚਰਣ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਂਧਿਓ ਪਾਲ ॥੨॥੭॥੩੮॥
hiradai charan sabad satigur ko naanak baandhio paal |2|7|38|
With the Lord's lotus feet enshrined in his heart, Nanak has tied the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru, to the hem of his robe. ||2||7||38||

In His own way, He provides us with our food; in His own way, He plays with us.
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਭੋਗ ਰਸ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
sarab sookh bhog ras devai man hee naal samaavai |1|
He blesses us with all comforts, enjoyments and delicacies, and he permeates our minds. ||1||
ਹਮਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
hamare pitaa gopaal deaal |
Our Father is the Lord of the World, the Merciful Lord.
ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਕਉ ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiau raakhai mahataaree baarik kau taise hee prabh paal |1| rahaau |
Just as the mother protects her children, God nurtures and cares for us. ||1||Pause||
ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਇਕ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
meet saajan sarab gun naaeik sadaa salaamat devaa |
You are my friend and companion, the Master of all excellences, O eternal and permanent Divine Lord.
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਤਤ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੨॥੮॥੩੯॥

Here, there and everywhere, You are pervading; please, bless Nanak to serve the Saints. ||2||8||39||

The Saints are kind and compassionate; they burn away their sexual desire, anger and corruption.
ਰਾਜੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਇਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਲੈ ਬਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

man tan raam naam hitakaare |
With my mind and body, I love the Lord's Name.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਹਿਤ ਭਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sookh sehaj aanand mangal sahit bhav nidh paar utaare | rahaau |
With peace, poise, pleasure and joy, He has carried me across the terrifying world-ocean. ||Pause||
ਧੰਨਿ ਸੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਧੰਨਿ ਓਇ ਭਵਨਾ ਜਾ ਮਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਬਸਾਰੇ ॥
dhan su thaan dhan oe bhavanaa jaa meh sant basaare |
Blessed is that place, and blessed is that house, in which the Saints dwell.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਹੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੯॥੪੦॥
jan naanak kee saradhaa poorahu tthaakur bhagat tere namasakaare |2|9|40|
Fulfill this desire of servant Nanak, O Lord Master, that he may bow in reverence to Your devotees. ||2||9||40||
